Old Feelings
Summary: It’s been 2 year since Y/N & Shawn broke up, but one faithful day may just bring them back together.
A/N: An old draft I never got to publish but here it is. Will I continue it? The world may mever know. Angst on angst on angst
Another day, another 24 hours flying by without thinking about him, and living your best life.
At least that’s what you continued to tell yourself 3 times a day for the past 2 years. You’ve heard breakups were hard but never knew just how difficult it could be, when that person impacted your life tremendously.
The day Shawn Mendes entered your life, it changed for the better. You saw the world differently in the most bright, positive way. He brought indescribable feelings upon you, and you wanted more. Until December 12th, 2017 happened.
The day you realized, you couldn’t keep up with Shawn. He was becoming more and more successful, following his dreams, gaining the attention and adoration from people across the globe. How selfish would it have been for a small town girl like you to hold him back from his new life? It only took one note, and one voicemail to end it all, but it was going to take centuries to forget it all.
Occasionally you’d see his posts from social media and notice his smile just a little bit smaller than before. It tore your heart, but news from tabloids about his new famous girlfriend hurt even more. Yet, you couldn’t feel sad about it, after all this was good news…for him. He’s happy living his best life just like you should be.
Then March 1st, 2019 happened. That faithful day, you decided it was the perfect day to grab a celebratory green tea latte after a crazy week of work.
“Hi, what can I get you honey?”, the barista cheerfully asked.
“I’ll get a –” you were interrupted by a long lost familiar voice that called out your name.
“Y/N?”, his calm voice asked in disbelief.
“Oh.. hey.” you quietly responded, looking back at the barista. “Umm, can I get an iced green tea latte?”
“Sure thing, sweetie.” the barista wrote up your order and went on her way to create your drink. It only takes 5 minutes for your drink to be made, but what was supposed to feel like 5 felt like an eternity of awkwardness.
The boy you left 2 years ago had just re-entered your life, and was standing next to you. What were you supposed to say, if anything at all?
“Y/N…Please…” he finally spoke out.
You shook your head. “Don’t.. just don’t”, looking at him with pleading eyes. You were doing so well getting over him, he couldn’t ruin that for you.
“Im not the one who left. I just…God I just..I just think we should talk.” he looked into your eyes trying to find some answer. A hint to why you left when he was all in from the beginning. “Please? You at least owe me that.”
You should have said no. That would be the smart thing to do. Say no, walk away, and forget him all over again. But what came out of your mouth was far more stupid, dangerous, and possibly more deadly. “Okay. Let’s talk.”
