I wrote a fic for the first time in months! Life has been so crazy, but I want to get back into the habit of writing, so here's something very silly.

Just a harmless, platonic bet between friends. Best friends. Buck and Eddie were in the gym, killing time during the dwindling hours of their shift. It was a throwaway comment, really. In one moment, Eddie is contemplating adding more weight to his squat press; in the next, Buck is challenging him. He wanted to see who could add the most weight. The loser has to do 100 push-ups while saying the other’s name.  It was a dumb bet in hindsight, a dumb, testosterone-fueled bet, and now Eddie is trapped, towering over his best friend in clingy, sweat-soaked workout clothes that hide none of his hard-earned muscles as said best friend pants his name over and over and over.   Or, Buck loses a bet, and Eddie loses his mind.

Eddie can’t see him like this. That would be it. The cherry on top of this fucked up sundae, Buck will die of embarrassment if Eddie sees him cowering in a supply closet with a raging hard-on. And if he doesn’t die on the spot, he’ll eventually have to walk off a very, very high roof to spare himself the humiliation of living with this memory.

“Can I come in, bud?”

“Um, well, Eddie,” it comes out like a gasp, and Buck clenches his eyes shut, trying to will himself to a different location. Maybe home, or the desert, or the bottom of the ocean. Anything will do, really. “I’d–I’d really rather you didn’t.”

Eddie’s sigh is barely audible through the closed door, but Buck picks up on the drumming of his fingers against the solid wood. The sound is a comfort, even if Buck would rather be scrubbing his tongue with bleach than talking to Eddie right now.

“I need to check you out, Buck. We don’t know how much you took.”

Buck huffs, head falling back, thumping against the door. “Enough. I took enough.”

 Or, Buck eats Viagra-laced muffins, and Eddie helps him out.

Hello everyone!! I’m alive! Maybe not well but definitely alive!!

I put a bunch of my WIPs on the back burner this month bc of some personal reasons but I finally got the urge to write again so here’s a snippet of a fic I just finished today! (Buck accidentally eats muffins laced with viagra and has a very very bad time)

Buck being the one thing Eddie ever chose for himself is so earth shattering to me and I need everyone to stop saying it

During my masters program I worked on a translation of a poem called Sir Amadace which is essentially about a knight who helps a man out of debt and is then rewarded for his generosity. HOWEVER! My translation applied a queer lens and I paid more attention to the homoerotic nature of Sir Amadace and the White Knight. And let me tell you Buddie parallels are everywhere. I had to actively fight not to make it about Buddie when I was working on it. But I’ve since graduated and now I can!!!

FIRST! Sir Amadace was a traveler, he was ashamed of his past, and essentially looking for a place/family of his own (Cough. Cough. Buck). The man Sir Amadace helps actually starts the story as a corpse, guarded by his wife. He is unable to rest peacefully because of the burdens and shame he accumulated during his life. (Sounds familiar? Maybe like a certain someone who carries around mountains of catholic guilt?) He’s Eddie. you get it.

SECOND! Despite not having a lot of money or “earthly possessions” and despite not even knowing this dead man, Sir Amadace tracks down all the merchants this man owes and pays off his debts with the last remaining income he had. It was an extremely generous act of devotion for a man he had technically just met (if you can call staring at his dead body meeting) and very similar to how Buck immediately stepped in to a caregiver role with Eddie and Chris.

THIRD! The next time we see the dead man in this poem Sir Amadace is at rock bottom. He’s isolated himself in the forest and is taking active measures to never see another soul ever again. The dead man returns at this moment as a figure referred to as the White Knight (although the fact that they’re the same person isn’t actually revealed until the end of the poem) He’s stronger, healthier, and strangely enchanting. Sir Amadace feels drawn to him. He trusts the man immediately, there’s no doubt in his mind that this strange man is vital asset to his life. And when the White Knight presents Sir Amadace with an opportunity to find a family and regain his riches, Amadace doesn’t hesitate to accept, forever tying their fates together. It’s a scene that’s echoed in Buddie’s “you can have my back any day.” “Or well, you could have mine”

FOURTH! Sir Amadace wins a jousting tournament after the White Knight suggested he sign up. The prize is a family of his own as well as a place to call home. It’s a very sweet ending for Sir Amadace. But wait! He’s still thinking about his White Knight! Things don’t feel quite right without him. Amadace doesn’t feel whole until the White Knight returns and asks him what he loves above all else. Sir Amadace responds that he loves his family most of all. The White Knight asks “and me?” Sir Amadace is frozen, paralyzed because as much as he loves his family and his new home. He wouldn’t be here without the White Knight, and if he really thinks about it, he doesn’t want to be here without him. So Amadace offers to give it up. Let his dream slip through his fingers just to be with the White Knight. But the White Knight is not cruel, he isn’t a malignant figure, he would never hurt Amadace, so he offers to join Amadace here in his new home with his new family. It’s a pretty direct parallel of Eddie’s Texas arc and the reconfiguring of station 118 at the end of s8.

Hopefully, like Sir Amadace and the White Knight, Buck and Eddie will also live happily ever after in s9.
