Today I had lunch with Sil, a girl from the finance team who's originally from Korea but has been living in Australia for around 4 years. We joined the company at different times, but we've become good friends. During lunch, she opened up to me about her recent struggles with her visa application. Her partner is the main applicant for a visa that requires meeting certain salary criteria, but unfortunately, his current salary doesn't meet the requirements. He's a welder, which is in high demand in the job market, but the average salary for that profession isn't high enough in our state.

To increase their chances of getting the visa, he wants to move to another state where the salary is higher. This means Sil might have to quit her job and move with him, but she's worried about finding another job in the new state because her current visa is expiring soon. She's also concerned that employers might not want to hire her if they think she won't be working for them for a long time due to her visa status.

Another option she's considering is applying for a student visa and pursuing a Master's degree, but the tuition fees for international students are very expensive. She's really not sure what to do, but she knows that her partner is planning to move soon, and they've decided that once he's settled, she'll join him and wait for the visa to be granted.

Sil feels torn between wanting to stay where she is and worrying about her career prospects, and wanting to be with her partner and support him. She knows that life can be difficult, but she's hopeful that good luck will come to those who are well-prepared. I wished her all the best and hoped that everything works out for her and her partner.

I've got a new colleague at office - Matt. He joined this company in January. Interestingly, he was born in Australia but has Vietnamese heritage. We bump into each other at the ground floor during lunch breaks, and we've started having lunch together.

During one of our recent lunches, Matt asked if we were going to the K-pop concert this weekend. We weren't, but to keep the conversation going, I asked him who his favorite member of Black Pink was - the popular Korean girl group. I wasn't surprised when he said Lisa, because she's my favorite too. But I was taken aback when he said he liked her because she looks more like a "White" girl. He said that only White girls are his type, which struck me as odd given that he has an Asian appearance.

When I probed a bit further, he told me that he's just not interested in other types. I asked him what specifically he liked about White girls - their appearance or mindset, for instance. He said both. Based on my observations, I noticed that he has a very western lifestyle, which might explain his preference for dating Western people.

It was an interesting conversation, and I enjoyed getting to know more about his preference.lol

I have a very good first impression to Singapore:)

I and W are on the way to KL, Malaysia. We need to transfer at Singapore. It was 2:30am in the morning. We found a 24-hour food court to have a bite. I chose a typical Singapore breakfast restaurant. The restaurant seems popular as there was a long queue for ordering, which is rare to see in the early morning. I had a feeling my choice was right.

There were around 4 ppl in the front of me. When there are only 2, the cashier said to the queue that they have to accept cash only due to the EFTPOS not working, any cash, such as SIN,USD,AUD etc, is fine. I only have Australian dollars. The food I wanted to order is Singapore$5.10. I had A$5 cash and 20 cents. When it was my turn to order, I showed the money to the cashier and asked if they accept it. They said they don’t accept coins but can accept the A$5 cash. Considering the currency rate, A$5 cash is less than S$5.10. I felt a bit sorry and told them I don’t have more cash, seems it was not enough. The cashier said it’s enough and I can order. I was a bit surprised that I actually paid less to get the food. When my food was ready, more surprisingly, they gave me an extra soft boiled egg for free! I thought that was not my food until the staff said ‘take it, take it. This is for you.’ I felt welcomed and appreciated a lot!

This sunscreen is tinted bb cream based. The color is not suitable for my skin tone, but I still used it up😂. Anyhow I will put foundation on the top of it. The texture is good, but I think the liquid one with no color is still my best option.

2W0 Warm Vanilla is similar to my skin tone. I should buy a brighter one given that the color will be gone due to long exposure to the oxygen. Coverage is just so-so. But it makes my skin hydrated for the whole day. I’ll give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Hand creams I used in the recent years. I like middle two. MOR is an Australian brand I think. The Fernanda hand cream is the one I bought in Loft Japan. L’occitane is always the best!

One of my favourite sunscreens. Neither greasy nor sticky. But this coloured one is not suitable to me. It can’t be used as light-weight foundation to my skin tone. Perhaps people who like to be tanned may love it. I’ll give it 7 out of 10. If it is transparent, 10 out of 10.
