So uh yeah hi im Pluto, I draw and sometimes I actually post my art here, I write headcanons occasionally, loads of reblogs, and admittedly there are many posts about me being sad gay and lonely.

I feel like people tend to forget or not realize that the act of Kirishima going to save Bakugou was not a selfless one. Noble, sure, but regarding Kirishima's character it was self-serving when it came to intentions. This isn't a bash on Kirishima, rather just an observation of his character (I'm literally his number one fan I could never hate on him lmao)

Both in the manga and the anime, when in retort to Iida's remark about them going to save Bakugou, rather than talk of Bakugou's wellbeing, Kirishima's centers his response around how he felt when Bakugou was kidnapped.

He talks about it being his pride as a man to go and save him, and how he felt helpless sitting around while Bakugou got kidnapped. Despite being reasonable for his character, this is objectively selfish. He's not considering how them trying to rescue Bakugou might further put Bakugou in danger, he's acting on emotion, on his guilt.

While I do love looking at things through a shipping lense, this was less about him caring about Bakugou and more so about him needing to do something to cope with the guilt he felt. That's not to say he doesn't care about Bakugou of course!! But in that moment, it was more so about how he felt.

I think a part of Kirishima's character is how he hates the feeling of being helpless in a situation and needs to have control over something. This often results in him charging headfirst into situations, without necessarily thinking them through. And yes, he mostly rushes in for defense which his quirk is a defensive quirk so he is usually able to handle himself, but my point still stands.

(You can see in his expression here that he didn't have much of a game plan lmao)

This does all stem from the experience he had back in middle school, when he failed to help some girls against a villain despite it being within his power to do so.

So him going to save Bakugou I think was more him trying to regain control or take initiative in a situation he felt helpless in.
