"What happened?" Shawn asked, looking back and forth between his best friend Cory and his half-brother, Jack. "Is [Y/N] in there?"

"Yeah, but she locked the door," Jack complained, jiggling the door knob. "[Y/N] doesn't want to talk to anyone right now."

"Why not?"

"She said something about you not loving her by the way she dresses?"

Shawn rolled his eyes. He pushed past Cory and Jack and knocked on the door. He pleaded for you to let him in. You had to admit, Shawn's voice was something you always gave in to regardless of what the command was.

You sulked your way to your bedroom door and unlocked it. Shawn stepped into your bedroom and closed the door behind him before Cory and Jack could peek into the conversation.

"[Y/N], what is this about me not loving you for the way you dress?" Shawn questioned, walking up to you, but you were backing away. He stopped and just stared at you in bewilderment. "I love the way that you dress [Y/N]. What's wrong?"

"Shawn, I don't dress like all the other girls do," You explained, lowering your gaze from him. "I'm afraid that I dress too boyish for you."

"[Y/N], I couldn't care less about how you dress," Shawn proposed, shaking his head. "I love you [Y/N], not the attire you wear."

"I guess that's true."

"Now, come here so I can show you how much I love you," Shawn invited, opening his arms wide. "Never forget that I love [Y/N]. I always will."

It was only supposed to be something small. Shawn never intended his little crush on [Y/N] to explode into something enormous. The problem was, [Y/N] was Cory's little sister. Well, only by a few months. Cory still was extremely overprotective over her, and Shawn knew that Cory wouldn't be happy if he ever found out what he thought of his little sister.

On the other hand, you were head over heels over for Shawn. You were much too shy to say anything. Shawn would always be over at your house. Your heart would race whenever you saw him, and it would break whenever he left. At times, you felt like Shawn felt the same. You've caught him staring at you across the dinner table before.

It was clear for the Matthews family to perceive the feelings that you two had for each other, all except Cory. He was completely oblivious to the fact that you liked Shawn and Shawn liked you. It wasn't until tonight's dinner where Shawn just randomly blurted his feelings.

"I can't hold it in any longer [Y/N]," Shawn commented, dropping his utensils on the table. You were taken aback by his random outburst. "I thought it was just a little boy crush, but [Y/N], every time I see you, I want to ask you on a date. I like you [Y/N]. I just do. I can't help it."

The table fell silent. You slowly rotated your head to look at Cory who seemed to be living in his own little world. It was as if he didn't want to accept the fact that his best friend liked his little sister.

"Shawn I—"

"When were you going to tell me this Shawn?" Cory interrupted, finally speaking. Shawn looked at him. "[Y/N] is my little sister—"

"I'm only a few months younger than you are Cor," You interjected with an eye roll. "I'm not even that much younger. But you need to know that I feel the same way about Shawn, Cory. I like him too."

"Nope," Cory replied, frantically shaking his head. "There is no way I'm letting my best friend date my little sister. You're too young [Y/N]!"

"Stop being overprotective Cory! It's not like Shawn's intentions are bad," You defended, crossing your arms. Shawn nodded in agreement. "Just let us give it a shot together, please."

Cory heard the genuine beg in your voice. He sighed in defeat, before nodding his head. You smiled.

"Thanks Cory."

"I really shouldn't be jealous Cor!" Shawn exclaimed in frustration, turning to step onto the platform where the green couch was. "I trust Y/N with my whole heart, so why do I feel this way when I see her talking to another guy?"

"It's only natural Shawn," Cory reassured, sitting down the same time as Shawn. "Y/N is a good lookin' girl—"

"Watch your words bud."

"Shawn, you know I'd never steal your girl," Cory promised, shaking his head. Shawn narrowed his eyes at Cory, but believed him afterwards. "Anyways, it's normal to get jealous here and there, but in the end, know that Y/N isn't going to dump you for some other guy."

"I know that she would never do that," Shawn agreed, nodding his head. He looked Cory straight in the eyes. "But I love her so much Cory, and I know I say that all the time, I just wish she knew how much I loved her. The way she makes me feel is something I've never experienced before. I want her and only her. Nobody else."

"I don't know why you're tellin' me this Shawn, but I can see that you love her," Cory acknowledged with a smile. "It's true love with the both of you. I've never seen you this happy, and I'm glad Y/N is the reason why you are. My only advice would be to tell her what you just told me, because I'm not Y/N."

"There's another thing I want to talk to Y/N about too Cory," Shawn added, grinning from ear to ear. "I want to ask Y/N to officially be my girlfriend. I just love her so much, I want her to be my girlfriend and potentially my...You know what."

"Well, that last stage will have to wait until we're older," Cory joked, patting his buddy on the shoulder. "But I'm with you all the way with your decision."

Shawn smiled, unaware of the fact that the entire conversation was overheard by you from the kitchen. Cory's mother had opened it to let some air in, but to your luck, you were able to hear what Shawn had to say about you. You loved Shawn so much, and you knew Shawn loved you just as much.
