I disappeared for a while for various reasons (check tags). I’m gonna be ‘rebranding’ and turning this blog to be more based around my homeowner sona… but Ace will still be an existing character that you can still interact with, ask questions of, and roleplay with! :)

[Radio interference]

DE Foxtrot Romeo Tango! This is Fritz, looking for anyone who can help me with a job, over.

He looked towards the radio curiously, tilting his head slightly in confusion. Nonetheless, the words were understood, so he cautiously pressed a button and spoke out loud.

“Howdy, this is Ace. What seems to be th’ problem, Fritz?” he said, not very familiar with this technology, but trying anyway. “…Over,” he added, having forgot initially.

Fritz grins at the response, absolutely giddy someone's finally responded to him.

"Oh-ho, finally!" His voice crackles like static for a moment.

"...Ahem, sorry, got a little excited there, now where was I?"

He shifts his weight back in the garage, and begins pacing as he speaks, idly fiddling with a stray wire on his headset.

"From my intel, you're the reasonable down-to-earth type, am I right? Well, you seem like-minded. Let me give you the pitch;

I've been documenting a pattern.

New objects come around all the time, objects solve problems, and new problems are constantly being found. But recently, haven't you noticed that newer objects have been solving too many problems?"

He pauses for dramatic effect for a moment, and gets quiet.

"...Here- Imagine a human wants to play cards, your forte, yeah? They don't reach for you, they grab their phone or computer and boot up a digital version. And you're not the only one, I was one of the first to get replaced, this is going to happen to all of us if nobody does anything."

He sighs.

"What I'm saying is... I have a plan to stop it, and I need some recruits. Think you can help me? Over."

Ace listened to Fritz, understanding exactly the scenario he was depicting. He had noticed the homeowner playing more online gambling games rather than busting out their perfectly fine poker set. He'd been gathering dust inside the closet as of lately, and heard rumours of himself being moved to the attic soon.

Shiver.

He pressed the same button as before, and made his response.

"I hear ya, Fritz. The last thing I need is some digital replacement of my physical beauty. Oh, I'll help al-right!" he said, being swayed quite easily at the prospect of being left and forgotten; getting covered in other unremarkable objects in the attic. That wasn't him! He needed to shine as brightly as he once did.

"What's the plan, then? Over," he finished.

Someone stands before him, a woman with black-tipped, deep red hair, ruby red eyes and glossy red lipstick. She's in a short, red dress with a leather jacket and knee-high platform boots.

She's at least 6'0, with a spade-tipped tail flicking behind her, and a poker chip pinned to her jacket- it reads "Roulette- She/Her" in swirling handwriting.

"You seem like you'd be up for a bet."

He takes a moment to assess the being in front of him, taking note of her appearance. Alas, he tips his hat in greeting and extended a hand to the woman for a handshake.

“An’ you’ve got a good eye,” he remarked, pleased that she could tell he was a gambling man. “Name’s Ace, and yours is Roulette?”

She shakes his hand, firm, but not harsh. Her tail flicks and she nods.

"Sharp. I like that. Roulette, risk herself, at your service. Or I could be."

She sits crossing one leg over the other and he can see that the heels of her boots are a diamond and a heart.

"If you win, I can tip the luck of any bet in your favor. If you lose, I get one little thing of yours. No cheating or tippin' scales on either of our parts for this. If I catch you cheatin', the bet is off."

For a flicker, not even two seconds, she seems to look different. She seems genuine with her offer.

”Oh-ho, I like the sound of this,” he smiled, before continuing. “Cheating’s not in the cards for me, so don’t you worry about that!”

He folds his arms over his chest, leaning against a nearby wall.

“May I ask what exactly we’ll be betting on?” he spoke up once more, curious and intrigued.

She smiles. She seems happy to meet someone who just might figure out a way to outwit her.

"With these bets I tend to take a souvenir. One thing that means something to you, or something I just take a liking to. For some it's a hairclip, or a blanket, or a piece of clothing. Others have less to give so I have to take something different."

She seems less keen on dealing in souls, more likely to take jewelry or clothes.

"Consider me interested," Ace nodded, taking his seat down across from Roulette, a round table in between the two.

He picked up his deck of cards, showing them the right-side up just so she would know that these cards had no tricks to them, no way to cheat. Just a simple deck of playing cards. He shuffled them quickly and skillfully before placing down two cards for himself, and two for her.

"We're betting with real money, I presume. Unless you'd prefer poker chips? Wouldn't want you to lose all your pocket change to one little game," he asked beforehand, all confidently and whatnot.

Nonetheless, he placed a one hundred dollar note to the side, and took a look at his cards.
