oh yes it's that time of year again
WHY DO SIX OF CROWS FANS HATE MATTHIAS SO MUCH?? YOU PEOPLE NEED TO DIE! HE WOULD NOT LISTEN TO ANDREW TATE PODCASTS!!! (Saw a whisper on Pinterest that claimed that)
A sexually repressed religious teenager who believes in proper courtship and no sex before marriage is not even remotely ideologically similar to manosphere podcast bros who view all women as bitches and hoes.
I love how everyone treats adhd as a moral failing even people who otherwise have reasonable stances
idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I dont think we should have got Matthias' pov in Six of Crows. HEAR ME OUT. it would have made not having Wylan's pov less jarring– obviously Wylan's would have spoiled the ending, but him being the only member of the group not included made it feel obvious? I think not getting to know what Matthias is thinking would have made it more interesting too!! as the reader we wouldnt know if the Crows can trust him, how he feels about Nina, etc. plus, Wylan and Matthias are both kind of the outsiders of the group in the beginning? idk but im dying on this hill
I get what you're saying, but I disagree. Matthias undergoes a full character arc in that book, and he's the only one who does. If we don't see his perspective, then his character arc doesn't really work. Also, this part is subjective, but I think that Matthias' internal conflict is vastly more interesting than not knowing if we can trust him would be. Not to mention how much impact his death in Crooked Kingdom would lose if we never really got to see his arc in book one.
I've got a weird and morbid question for the KotLC fandom: Which characters do you want to die, and who do you think should kill them? Add the specific method if you're in a graphic violence kinda mood.
When I originally created this post I was mostly thinking of antagonists dying and which protagonists should kill them but everyone in the reblogs so far has interpreted it the other way around, which I find kind of interesting.
Reblogging my own post again two years later because I must share my own hot take. I think Keefe shouldn't be the one to kill his mom. I think it should be an adult. And there should be consequences (either a partial or complete mind break) to show that children shouldn't be expected to do dangerous and traumatic things in self defense when there are adults there to protect them. One of the things that separates KotLC from other middle-grade fiction is how the adult characters (obviously not all of them) actually care about the kids and try to keep them out of danger whenever possible. I think that from a story/thematic standpoint, an adult killing Gisela would be better than Keefe doing it. I would specifically like either Forkle or Grady to kill her.
My autistic bestie suggested that I might be autistic (I have diagnosed ADHD) so I'm looking into AuDHD, and a lot of it is very relatable, but there's this voice in the back of my head going, "You're just a Gemini! You have two distinct and contradictory personalities you switch between depending on the situation because you were born in early June!"
I'm watching TSITP, and it's aesthetically the straightest thing I've ever seen in my life despite having several queer characters, but I cannot deny that I'm entertained.
I hate when people are like, "To avoid decision fatigue, wear the same outfit every day like a cartoon character," as if that wouldn't just create a new mental health problem. Personally, I minimize decision fatigue by always using the same bathroom stall. Decisions are a way of exerting control over your life. Avoiding making decisions that actually enrich your life because of "decision fatigue" is not helpful to anyone.
I'm rereading Sea of Monsters and I don't think Rick Riordan knows what lava is.

I've started annotating, but I'll probably change most of those during my full re-read.
@comicaurora I love physical media, and I'm so glad this comic I've read for years is actually taking up space in my house now.

Do you ever get so stressed about a thing you have to do that the stress itself makes you unable to do the thing?
This blog is a safe space.

Hell yeah!
I'm sick of modern AUs. These universities and coffee shops are getting old. I want genre AUs. Put the high fantasy characters in a Sci-fi setting and vice-versa. Put them in a Western. Put them in a magical girl anime.
When I say, "Let Nina be fat" that goes both ways. Let Inej be flat chested.
