Most non-Minnesotans have no idea what this means, but to put it plainly: we're raised with not just the expectation but essentially -programming- to assist others who get stuck during the winter. We'll help people we'd otherwise punch on sight if they're stuck in the snow and ice, for zero reward.

This is the level of rage we're at with ICE. I'm not joking to say it's almost physically painful to not help someone stuck like that, and it's worth it because the people stuck are ICE.

The only way we have to express how mad we are above this is channeling the First Minnesota all over again.

The First Minnesota, for those of you who don't know the reference, is the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment from the American Civil War.

They were all volunteers, and participated in the First Battle of Bull Run (first major battle of the war), Antietam (the bloodiest battle of the war), and Gettysburg (the turning point of the war, also extremely bloody).

The 1st Minnesota had 82% casualty on the 2nd day of Gettysburg, lost 5 flag-bearers one after the other, and was left with 47 men fit to fight.

The 3rd day of Gettyburg, the 1st Minnesota fought the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment and seized their colors (captured their battle flag).

Minnesota still has the colors, despite requests from Virginia to give it back. In 2000, when Virginia again asked for it back, then-governor Jesse Ventura (yes, the pro-wrestler) said "Why? I mean, we won". Minnesota won that flag and is going to keep it.

And ICE has been sent to fuck with Minneapolis.

Minneapolis is not fucking around.
