Hey there :) I'm disabled. I deal with HS and several bladder and bowel issues along with chronic pain. I have a SCI as well. I wear diapers and use mobility aids.

There needs to be a seperate incontinence tag for kink and for people with disabilities that make them incontinent. I am not offendes by what other people are into, i just am trying to find people that relate to my issues and may have advice on how to cope, but the tags are filled with kink stuff.

Actually incontinent tag also has kink which i assume means they are ppl with such a condition that also have tht kink which i understand, i just wish there was a tag of just what im looking for bcs its hard to find the advice im needing

Disabled people should be allowed to travel in comfort just like everyone else. Idc if their wheelchair "takes up space" or if them using the airport transport service makes you jealous. Idc if you get mad bc they got to be seated first even though you paid a lot for your seat. I don't care if you think they are some TikTok influencer pretending to be disabled. I literally don't give a fuck. That person has a right to be there just as much as you do. Mind your own fucking business.

Incontinence isn't gross. It's still just peeing and pooping. We all do it. And it's not more gross and unsanitary just because a disabled person needs to use different tools and strategies than most people

im tired of hearing people mock those who struggle with bladder/bowl control, for people who can't tell when they need to go until it's too late or at all, for people who have uncontrollable voidings and leaking, for people who need to wear incontinence products around the clock, for people who need them influctuating amounts and need different kinds of products, for those who bedwet, for those who can't afford incontinence products so their clothes get dirty- to everyone with bowel and bladder issues.

we are human. we are still people. we are not gross, we are disabled. we are struggling with a disability. if you make cutesy posts about canes and wheelchairs, you need to include people who wear diapers, people who need plastic pants, plastic bedsheets and absorbent bed pads. you need to include people who can't tell when they need to go. people who need/use catheters. people who have colostomy bags. people with stained and dirty clothing. people who have to change their incontinence products in public.

you need to include autistic and ADHD and ND and disabled people who feel unsafe without diapers. you need to include people with spinal injuries and ehlers danlos syndrome and muscular control disorders with need incontinence products and feel safe with them. you need to include people who like their diapers and not just tragic stories where it's never discussed or doesn't negatively impact their life and livelihood.

please include all disabilities in your disability positivity posts, and please be kind and treat all disabled people with respect and humility, including those of us with symptoms you may find "gross".

maybe part of the reason i crave intimacy so much is that chronic pain would probably be slightly more bearable if i at least had someone to cuddle through it

instead i'm lying in the dark with a migraine and nausea clutching my pillow almost in tears begging for it to stop

offering you all the gentlest reminder that it's okay to have negative feelings about your disability. it's okay to not like your condition. it's okay to be upset with the abilities that it has taken from you. having negative feelings doesn't make you a "bad" disabled person, and it doesn't make ypu pitiful. you don't have to be positive all the time.

An adult in a diaper isn't less of an adult. An adult who needs the help of a caregiver isn't less of an adult. An adult who can't speak isn't less of an adult. An adult who can't work or study isn't less of an adult. An adult who can't live independently isn't less of an adult. Adulthood is about your amount of years spent alive, not about your skills and abilities

i think a lot of people who have never cared for a baby and have no conscious memory of using diapers or any other incontinence product don't realize that people really aren't supposed to be sitting in soiled pads/diapers for extended periods of time. like the point of the pad/diaper is to prevent the soiling of clothes and whatever else we might be sitting on, and to give us enough time to get somewhere where we can change.

if you sit in a wet/soiled diaper (or underwear) for longer than 2-3 hours, it starts to get really painful and irritate the skin. this can lead to painful rashes, which can get infected. this is especially serious because many people who use incontinence products are also immunocompromised, and infections from sitting or walking around in a wet diaper can become extremely dangerous very quickly.

this is why we need to amend the ADA's guidelines for accessible bathroom requirements to include adult changing tables. i'm very lucky in that i'm mobile enough to change myself in a stall, but many people who deal with incontinence are not, and need full assistance with changing. being stuck outside in a soiled product is painful and dangerous, and significantly disabled people deserve better.
