Folx, I'm happy to say that I'm re-launching my webseries #WeLiveHeritage to create a common ground for the critical conversations that we're not having, exposing our people to the conscious content that we've been longing for and bolstering a true platform for Latinx/@/a/o people with respect to our African, Indigenous, and European roots. We're more than tacos, we're more than tapdancin' gimmicks and the caricatures they stereotype us as... but you wouldn't know that by looking online today. As Donald Trump takes us further into darkness & disarray, we as leaders seek to illuminate the truth, liberate the oppressed & the oppressors, and help bridge the gap across all cultures to unite people behind humanity. Our community has been waiting for a product to champion; we've been searching for the true representation of who we are, what we can become, and how we will bring people together; here it is. This social justice, 7-format pilot series will engage communities with potent yet respectful dialogue on all of the woke shit that our minds need to be elevated. You gotta question yourself sometimes; this isn't about having doubts, its about growing, evolving, and realizing your true potential. Who wants to live life with barriers on their mind or a cap on their potential? Or maybe you have no cap on your potential whatsoever; maybe you're powerful beyond human belief? But how do you come to this realization and continually break barriers with every opportunity? Are you around people who want to push you there, daily? If you have children, particularly a father, you have the responsibility to grow WITH your kids. And in some cases, you're going to have unlearn what society has taught you.

To any & all of my brothers and sisters who may identify as White: just want to let you know that if any of your family members or country people from Germany, Ireland, Scandinavia, etc, wanted to immigrate to the U.S. for ANY reason, I’d welcome them to live next door to me with open arms. They could speak any language they wanted, practice any religion (or not) that fit their life, and gather/assemble as they wish. I wouldn’t treat them badly or put them down because they may or may not immediately understand the social & cultural norms of the U.S., but rather seek to teach them, empower them, and also learn about them and their home countries. I wouldn’t treat them differently if they didn’t have any money, clean clothes, or food; I’d probably give them a spare shirt and a few dollars, if I had it on hand. I’d go to bat for them, too, if I saw someone mistreat them or try to take advantage of them. The bottom line is, I’d welcome these travelers with grace, love, and acceptance because other human beings who inhabit the planet earth deserve some of that. It’s honestly just the right thing to do. Human beings deserve a little bit of respect and diversity of any kind is a good thing (we should celebrate it! If there’s anything that’ll make the U.S. great, it’ll be its diversity). But part of the problem is we have a President in charge who is trying to turn us all against each other. It’s hard for some of us to not feel outraged at innocent children whom we feel/have a connection with to be locked in cages like wild animals in this “land of the free.” Do us a favor and help us, as many of us would help you if the vicious roles of racism were reversed. Not pointing any fingers, but now isn't the time to be silent; silence implies consent. Be a good person and do the right thing. Let us know you care. Don’t side with hate. Have those difficult conversations, confront bias, and help free these kids seeking a better life WITH their parents. No child deserves the terror of being separated from their parents because #FamiliesBelongTogether. Your family, my family, all of our families. I know this may be difficult, but we have to change and grow somehow. Let’s start here. Peace and love to you.

Tomorrow, as the country plans to observe the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice while at war, let’s not forget what #DonaldTrump really thinks of these brave men and women. #JohnMcCain, who strapped it on for his country & answered the call to serve, could have easily died as a prisoner in the Vietnam war. McCain’s plane was shot down by a missile in North Vietnam and his arms & leg were fractured by the ejection from the aircraft. He landed in a lake and nearly drowned from his parachute. The North Vietnamese pulled him in from the lake and crushed his shoulder with the butt of a rifle. They then took him to the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” and tortured him for almost six years, two of which were spent in solitary confinement. McCain was beaten and bound daily but still declined a reparation until all American hostages were set free. McCain, nearly dying in captivity from dysentery, today suffers from lifelong physical disabilities—he can’t lift his arms above his head. Trump, in 2015, openly said McCain was no hero and he prefers soldiers who weren’t captured. Trump, offering no apology, has continued to attack McCain and individuals inside of administration said McCain doesn’t matter because he’s dying of cancer. Without delving into what these soldiers might be doing in other countries and what they may be fighting for, let’s be honest about what really is: Donald Trump continues to make a mockery of these sacrifices, the American flag, and the United States, daily. Yet his supporters are completely silent to it all. #ThisIsAmerica. #TrumpsAmerica. #MemorialDay. #BoneSpurs. #WhereAreTheChildren. #ClaudiaPatriciaGomezGonzales. #NFL.
