A Lesson in Devotion from Dayalu Baba's Lotus Pond
Dayalu Baba would grow hundreds of lotuses in his ashram pond to offer to his deities. Because of the lotuses the pond was not very good for bathing in, as it was full of mud and overgrowth of aquatic weeds and water grasses.
In the initial days when we came to the ashram the pond was empty and very nice to bath in. In fact they used to use this water for cooking in the early years before they had a tube well.
Seeing how the pond was no longer usable to bathe in, I asked Dayalu Baba if he would prefer I clear out the pond and make steps for a bathing ghat, with clear water. I said I would fill the bottom of the pond with fine sand so it would remain clean and clear.
He replied, "That would be nice, but if we do that, then we cannot have lotuses to offer to our deities. Which will be better for the ashram?" He thought for a moment and then said, "I think we should keep the lotuses to offer to the deities. Lotuses need mud to grow well, so we will let the mud remain in the pond even if it is not good for bathing. It is more important for us to have lotuses to offer to the Lord."

How are the mange infected street puppies today? 1.5 years later.
Last year in January we took in some street puppies who along with their mother were infected with mange. After treating them, it wasn't possible to release them back in the street as other gangs of dogs did not accept them. As a result they continue to live with us, and here is how they look 1.5 years later.

An update on Shambhu the street bull who showed up at our temple injured with a torn ear around 5 days ago. We have since been treating the wound for the last five days, and here is a video showing how he is now.
Today Shambhu the street bull showed up at our temple with a torn ear. About twenty Bajrang Dal devotees were following him from the market to treat him, but he wouldn't cooperate and wanted to come straight to our temple. Any time Shambhu gets hurt he wants to first come to our temple, where he feels safe.
Once inside we washed the blood away and put some antiseptic spray on the wound, then gave some food for Shambhu to eat.

Charanamrita and the Mahā Mantra for a Departing Egret
This is the second egret bird that has been killed by dogs in our area this month. These birds have been coming for years to eat the insects off of our bulls, but now it has become very dangerous for them. We were able to pull him out of the mouth of the dogs, but his wounds were very severe, so we gave him charanmrita and put him in a peaceful area to hear maha mantra as he left his body. By evening he had passed away.
