Good Magazine audience is a well educated, politically left, young, and most importantly urban-dwelling

People who will tend to care about cuts to public transit funding will most likely be users of public transit themselves and thus will also be familiar with the visual vocabulary of the public transit maps which the infographic borrows from.

The use of the visual vocabulary of mass public transit to depict funding cuts in that very same arena is also effective in its humor/irony (!)

Clarity of Image: 7/10

Thickness of rail lines does NOT correspond to the severity of the funding cuts or fare hikes but simply to number of system users / riders.

Breakout of final destination zones effectively segments the consequences of negative effects, such as job losses, service cuts, and fare increases

Choice of colors and its coordination with the Key at bottom right makes effective use of peripheral vision and color pattern identification

Clarity of Text: 8/10

Paragraph at top left sets the context of this infographic in simple, clear language.

The san-serif Helvetica typeface is in line with the visual vocabulary of mass transit maps and also effectively communicates the names of the 15 most popular public transportation systems in the United States

Use of Gestalts & Semiotics & Grids: 8/10

Effective use of high contrast colors and distinct size of lines in relation to each other to convey numerical (quant) information

Central location of map on the page corresponds to the semiotic rules of the protagonist at the relative center of screen (image)

Clear and effective use of grids to align the header, text paragraph, information key, and transit line names

Highly effective use of small elements to obscure a relatively larger object, i.e., face.

Clarity of Text: 6/10 $17.6 billion/year =  150,000 Hiroshima sized bombs  Or Rebuild Our Schools, Fully Fund Head Start, provide health care for kids.

This text which appears toward end of video is much less effective that the imagery used because it fails to connect on the same level as the quasi-tactile effect of bb's on glass.

The effect of the massive numbers are lost with the awkward text layout and formatting.

As the bb's fill up the screen, they trend toward the top right corner of screen or the new ideal margin, providing a satisfying conclusion to the effect.
