28 People Die Each Day Due to Drunk Drivers
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reports that each day in the U.S., 28 people are killed by a drunk driver. The statistics that are reported by MADD and other agencies and organizations may not be startling, but, once a person is directly affected by a drunk driver, the numbers become personal and the senseless nature of these crimes becomes evident.
With 21 states now requiring the mandatory installation of ignition interlock devices for first-time DUI/DWI offenders, there is clearly a growing acknowledgement of the problem drunk driving creates for everyone. These devices continue to stop repeat drunk driving offenders from causing harm or death to loved ones, and the results are safer streets and less tragic headlines for us all.
