‣ ACTION GIRL
An Action Girl is a female badass who is tough and kicks butt. Damsel in Distress? Not her. She's featured in far more than the Designated Girl Fight. She faces dangerous foes and deadly obstacles, and she wins. She's a fairly common character in the Action Genre. For the longest time in many cultures, Double Standards in both fiction and real life meant that when it came to action and fighting, guys definitely outnumbered girls. Men Act, Women Are was the rule of thumb, which led to the Action Girl being a subversion of what was acceptable. As society has marched on, this view has faded in some media, leading to stories where Action Girls become the norm rather than the exception, such as stories set in a World of Badass, and especially a World of Action Girls.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Millicent Bulstrode, Gregory Goyle, Tracey Davis — talk shit get hit (they’re all on her hitlist) ii. Blaise Zabini, Daphne Greengrass — the Puddlemere Conspiracy and other things that Don’t Add Up. iii. Terry Boot, Michael Corner — drunk philosophers and other bad coping mechanisms. iv. Cormac McLaggen, Ronald Weasley — Keepers are never worth keeping.

‣ PASSIONATE SPORTS GIRL
The passionate sports girl can put the Jerk Jock in his place by beating him at his own sport, and also protects the Non-Action Guy from the Jerk Jock as well. She can vary from being a sweet and shy yet diligent player, to being a dark personality who just wants to play football. The specific sport she pursues is often dependent on personality; tomboys generally prefer soccer, basketball, swimming, martial arts, baseball and softball, whereas girly girls generally prefer tennis, ice skating, gymnastics, cheerleading and volleyball. You can tell that she is passionate because this girl lives for one sport at which she excels, or perhaps for any opportunity to show her strength, despite what anyone else thinks. In the first case, if it's a traditionally male sport, her desire to prove herself could lead to Sweet Polly Oliver as she attempts to get on an all boy team. If she plays a variety of sports then she's more likely to be the Girl Next Door. If it's a boys' team then it's You Go, Girl!.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Roger Davies, Percy Weasley — could stand to re-evaluate their priorities. ii. Draco Malfoy — money talks, but so do reputations. iii. Luna Lovegood — the kindness of strangers. iv. Justin Finch-Fletchley, Hermione Granger —displaced by the new regime.

‣ THE MILLSTONE
Things tend to go wrong in drama; this is how drama persists. And when something goes wrong, it's usually the fault of The Millstone. The Millstone is the character, usually The Ditz, who is specifically responsible for the failure of every plan that the heroes carry out. It's not just that the Millstone isn't helpful; it's that they manage to make things worse for their side than if they'd done nothing at all. It's because of them that Failure Is the Only Option. For some reason, they're usually given the linchpin of this week's plan... which they will then botch, forcing the heroes to try again next week. If the main characters could just get rid of the Millstone, they'd be home free... but then the show would be over; see Just Eat Gilligan. Can border on the character being The Scrappy depending how much they get away with week after week. Frequently, the villains have a Millstone on their side as well, which is how the heroes can stand their own against them. Odd if the same villains invoke You Have Failed Me to other people but not the Millstone.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Seamus Finnigan — a frequent firestarter. ii. Katie Bell, Ginny Weasley, Parvati Patil — started a petition to have him banned from the Gryffindor common room. iii. Ernie McMillan, Zacharias Smith — the squad. iv. Cho Chang — responsible for three of his worst memories.
CORMAC MCLAGGEN is portrayed by FACECLAIM and is OPEN.
Do you give prompts for the writing sample? If you do, could I please get some for Susan? Thanks!
Hi there!
We are pretty open about what the writing sample in our apps can be but some prompts for Susan could be:
Susan's aunt Amelia was one of Bellatrix's opponents during the election, tell us about how Susan felt when those election results came in.
How does she feel about the changes that are being made within the Ministry? As a well-respected Ministry family how is the Bones family taking these changes?
The Bones family notoriously lost a lot during Voldemort's war, tell us about the long-reaching effects of that loss and her feelings about people like the Lestranges achieving prominence within the Magical community again after everything they did.
Tell us about an important relationship in her life.
What was her Hogwarts experience like without the shadow of a second war hanging over her?
What was her life like, prior to Bellatrix running for Minister of Magic? How might that have changed now?

‣ UPPER-CLASS TWIT
The Ditz with a trust fund. The Upper-Class Twit is either an aristocrat or a relative of someone in the upper echelons of society, and is automatically provided with all of his living expenses. In other words, he was a Spoiled Brat as a child, and now he has no reason to contribute to society, which is just as well, since he doesn't have the skills to contribute anyway. More often than not, he leads a hedonistic lifestyle that embarrasses his family. Highly prone to Conspicuous Consumption. Embarrassing the family enough or doing something truly heinous as opposed to just assholish may get them cut off, but this is not exactly common. Instead, they will usually just be leashed to a trust fund and kept out of sight and away from any sort of family assets that they risk gaining control of, as it is simply easier to provide for them and clean up their messes in private than to unleash them on the world and risk them bringing shame to the family or drawing unnecessary attention from shady associates who want their money.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter, Lee Jordan — the resistance is calling. ii. Penelope Clearwater — break-room banter. iii. Oliver Wood — no guts, no glory. iv. Theodore Nott — a guide to ancient, debilitating curses.

‣ STEPFORD SNARKER
The fraternal twin of the Stepford Smiler. The Stepford Snarker has intense feelings of sadness, anger, numbness, loneliness, or other negative emotions, but, for whatever reason, wants to hide these feelings from the people around them. Whereas the Stepford Smiler hides these feelings by acting sweet and happy, the Snarker hides them by being snide and sarcastic. They often put on an outward appearance of being very jaded and bitter (though some may maintain a brighter disposition when in a better mood, snarking only when upset), and make sarcastic comments about everything and everybody, but those that are able to break their shell find that they're actually deeply hurt. If they're able to heal, they'll not necessarily stop being sarcastic — it may just be a part of their personality — but they'll hopefully find a way to express their feelings to their loved ones, rather than solely hiding them with their quips.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Astoria Greengrass, Pansy Parkinson, Anastasia Dolohov — a trifecta of terror. ii. Mandy Brocklehurst — his career nightmare. iii. Romilda Vane — a constant pest. iv. George Weasley —his most embarrassing memory.

‣ JERK WITH A HEART OF GOLD
A person you would expect to be a big Jerkass has some redeeming qualities behind their tough demeanor. Occasionally, they'll try to make it a Hidden Heart of Gold. In a romance series, a female character filling this role is usually a Tsundere instead (occasionally she's both). A male version is usually Troubled, but Cute, and his heart of gold should never outweigh his inner jerk because All Girls Want Bad Boys, though it can if Single Woman Seeks Good Man. If his jerkishness threatens to overshadow his good qualities, he's likely to attract a Love Martyr.
‣ CONNECTIONS

‣ TO BE LAWFUL OR GOOD
The classic debate, named for the Dilemma which often confronts Lawful Good Dungeons & Dragons characters (particularly Paladins), for a dilemma which may face any character who is defined in part by their struggle to remain good while upholding the stability of the system they live in. For whatever reason, this character has encountered a situation where doing the right thing involves breaking a law, personal code, or a binding rule that makes the character The Fettered. The character must then decide to either break the law and move towards Chaotic/Neutral Good, or put the law of the land first and become more Lawful Neutral.
‣ CONNECTIONS

‣ JERK JOCK
Just as the Alpha Bitch has a Girl Posse, the Jerk Jock has the Cool Crowd, a crowd of hangers-on who bow to his every whim and help him victimize whomever he decides to pick on. And he inevitably decides that Our Heroes are his favorite targets. One of the Jerk Jock's favorite targets is the Non-Action Guy, who is either not good at sports, or is simply not interested in sports, because he's more "artistically cultured" than other boys. The Jerk Jock loves to pick on the Non-Action Guy because of his apparent "lack of masculinity", and because the Jerk Jock sees artistic activities as "feminine" or "unmasculine". Often, a Lovable Jock (Passionate Sports Girl if female) will protect the Non-Action Guy from the Jerk Jock. Like the Alpha Bitch, the Jerk Jock is surprisingly popular despite his repellent personality, especially with the school's staff and most adults, and can get away with most anything. Chances are he's extremely necessary for a high school/college to compete against rivals lest they be wiped out into obscurity. Or, in the similar vein to the Alpha Bitch: politics and cold hard cash.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Seamus Finnigan — a shameful family secret, a disgrace to the Flint name. ii. Michael Corner — too smart for his own good. iii. Alicia Spinnet — turnabout is fair play. iv. Lee Jordan — a mouthpiece for dangerous ideas.

‣ BIG MAN ON CAMPUS
Guys want to be him, gals want to be with him. Maybe Even the Guys Want Him. The Big Man on Campus is the most popular guy in the High School. He is handsome, charming, a superb athlete and usually pretty smart and an A student. Most importantly, he is a subversion of Popular Is Evil. Unlike his peers the Alpha Bitch (who is usually his girlfriend until he realizes how awful she is) and the Jerk Jock (usually his friend until he realizes how awful he is) the Big Man on Campus never bullies anyone: he rules through charisma and general awesomeness rather than fear and manipulation. But like the Lovable Jock (with whom he is often close, if not one and the same), woe to anyone who trifles with him. He'll probably grow up to become The Ace.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Draco Malfoy — a series of unfortunate events. ii. Marcus Belby — a disappointing protegée. iii. Marcus Flint — the nemesis. iv. Daphne Greengrass — utterly enchanting.

‣ NOT IN THIS FOR YOUR REVOLUTION
A character is on a quest that could potentially decide the fate of the universe... but they don't care about that at all or any of this good/evil stuff, they're only on this quest for a personal reason: revenge, money, repaying a life debt to someone, and so on. It's a common motive for an Anti-Hero, Punch-Clock Hero, Nominal Hero or the Dragon with an Agenda. Not the same as It's Personal, where a character who is already in it out of duty or righteousness or whatever is given an additional personal motivation. There will often be a moment where the character has an opportunity to leave with what they came for while the rest of their group continues the quest alone. They will either choose to stay for the sake of their comrades or the mission, or actually decide to leave. The latter typically leads to them returning later to reveal that they have grown a heart, often in the form of a conveniently timed last minute rescue.
‣ CONNECTIONS
i. Astoria Greengrass — a friend in high places. ii. Percy Weasley — all the charm of a glumbumble. iii. Oliver Wood — a golden ticket to status. iv. Ernie MacMillan — all the pedigree with none of the appeal.
ROMILDA VANE is portrayed by FACECLAIM and is OPEN.
