Rereading these memories
God I had such a great time with you all. Thank you for helping me through a dark time in my life. Wherever you all are now, I wish you all the luck in the world. I really do.

Just another general update - I actually am a journalist now, wahoo!
Writing for a living is always something I wanted to do. I want to thank everyone who wrote with me when I wasn’t writing for money - it kept me sane and focused to keep up with it as a hobby.
As always, feel free to drop me a line and stay in touch. x
I need to come up with a headcanon about how these two are clearly related.
.ooc Just a general update
Just in case any chaps are around who want to know what happened -
I've been accepted into a journalism training scheme. Starts in September. I'm terrified, but the chance of making a career out of writing is too good to pass. I hope all you guys are doing well, and feel free to drop me a message or an email at any point if you want to catch up...
William Kircher (Bifur)
On Sunday I had the joy and the privilege to meet Mr. Kircher in London (Bifur). He’s such an animated chap, really full of energy and magnetism. It’s hard to explain, but I get the impression nobody can speak to him without ending up with a great big smile on their face. He really enjoys talking to fans and speaking of his adventures on set. Me and Jambo got the chance to listen to him in a group talk, then have a little chat with him afterwards. I told him about this blog and he seemed to really like the idea we're carrying on their stories outside of the books/films.
If anyone else gets the chance to meet a dwarf (or Martin Freeman), ask to see their Arkenstone ring. William showed me his, and even though I was too star-struck to do more than grin stupidly, it was awesome.

There were many privileges to having a birthday so close to Durin's day - the bright, party atmosphere, the warm, hearty autumnal foods, the abundance of soupy ales and exotic wines... but with everyone bustling around and busying themselves with visiting relatives and dropping in on old friends, even arranging a celebratory drink was hard work. Over the years, Bofur had simply taken to announcing his special day's plans on a small notice nailed to the wall of his local tavern (with permission from the kindly barkeep, of course). Nails gripped between his teeth, Bofur hammered this year's plans into their usual space, runes bleeding with wet ink across the cheap parchment.
"Bofur's birthday. All welcome to celebrate my 75th year on the last day of Autumn. My house from noon, or the bar from sunset. Hope to be seein' you all! Nori, you owe me at least three pints of Dragonspit. Regards, Bofur."
I owe you guys an apology.
Due to a number of factors, I haven’t been RPing as Bofur nearly as much as I once was, and as a result I’ve let a lot of good threads go stale. I’ll try to fix that as soon as I can.
The issues all appeared at once. First, my primary method of accessing the internet in my leisure time, my laptop, broke. Due to the fact I have no room for a desktop in my current setup, and have no incentive to buy a new laptop when I’m hoping to move to a larger place soon, I’ve been relying on a tablet (and an elderly computer with no internet access for word processing). It’s taking me a while to get used to.
Secondly, the nature of my work has changed considerably. Where I used to be guided by others, and thus had a lot of time to be writing when my tasks were done, I’m now working unsupervised a lot more. This means I decide what needs doing.
Lastly, my original writing has generated some interest. Obviously I have to give that precedence over RP.
I want to thank you all for bearing with me, and apologise again for the huge delay I’m causing. Just wanted to reassure you I’m not dead, and I’m still very much interested in our threads. I'm just struggling for time!

Warg Attack
Rinnah stiffened slightly as Bofur picked her up, but relaxed just as quickly. Once the two of them were settled, she leaned into him, with her ear over his heart. The steady beating helped to soothe her further, while the arm around her shoulders made her feel safer. Her eyes flicked towards the window as the lightning flashed, but she only flinched slightly at the thunder. At that moment, she was completely focused on Bofur’s singing. Something about it seemed so familiar. The inability to place it lasted only for a minute, especially after the dwarf had nuzzled her, and started up again. Rinnah tucked her head under his chin and spoke softly, “I thought I knew tha’ tune. M’ da used to sing wit it when I was afraid o’ blizzards. O’ course, th’ words were dif’rent.” She looked up at him, flinching even less as the next rumble passed through. “We never ‘ad storms like these wit all th’ thunder, ‘n m’ da wasn’ there t’ help,” her voice lowered, “No one really was.” Then her brows came together in thought, and she looked Bofur in the eyes. “I don’…,” she paused before starting over, “Why weren’ ye mad? When I woke ye up, I mean.” Rinnah had a look of utter confusion on her face, and a hint of fear.
“Mad?” Bofur returned the look of confusion as he gazed down at her. “Why would I be cross with ya? You woke me up, sure, but you didn’t do tha’ to upset me, did ya? You wanted to feel safe, an’ that’s understandable!” He gave her a kind smile, and instinctively hugged her closer as thunder rolled overhead. “I can’t imagine someone being cross with ya for tha’!” He sighed as he wondered what it was that had made his guest so frightened of the electrical storm outside. The wind continued to howl, slamming a wave of rain against the little house with a crash, and the tree above them groaned as its old branches were tugged and stressed. “This is a bad one.” The dwarf admitted as he listened to the chaos outside. “Never heard one so bad. But we’re safe. Me, Bifur and Bombur built this house with our own hands, an’ I trust us to have built it strong enough.”
initforthecraic started following you
“Can I buy ya an ale or anything? Wine, or…” Even though Dis was working as a barmaid, Bofur knew to treat a lady of noble birth well. Times were hard for all of the dwarven race - he’d even heard that Thorin had been working as a smith in mannish towns to get by! “I wondered if you knew…” he eyed his food and nibbled cautiously on a piece of bread. “I came here to ask after King Thorin. Is it true? Is he really lookin’ to reclaim Erebor?”
Dis eyes suddenly went cold and the smile on her face vanished “Yes, indeed he is” she said while pouring herself a glass of wine. “Why are you asking? Do you want to join him as well?”
Bofur noticed the sudden change in her expression, and turned away as he busied himself with knocking the ash from the end of his pipe. "Aye." He said, glancing back at Dis, trying to keep any emotion from creeping into his voice. "I understood tha' the more dwarves he could recruit, the better. An' me and my brother an' my cousin want to offer our services... If that pleases King Thorin."
Camillas’ heart dropped when she heard that no one had seen the Gray Wizard. The dragon looked at the two dwarves and gave them a forced smile, though fear was showing in her eyes “There is no reason to be sorry, my friends…you have tried, and that is all I could ever ask for…” She gently nuzzled the both of them with her snout “I have no other plans but to go to Isenguard…as much as I hate the thought of returning” she paused “I am well aware that I may not be returning…and even if I was…I want you to take as much gold from my horde as you want… I wish I could give you more, but gold is all I have to offer….that and my undying loyalty”
“Isenguard, then.” Bofur patted her snout. “Though… You’re not going alone. We’ll learn where Gandalf is hiding. Hear me out!” He tried to stop any protest before she had a chance. “If Saruman sees you returning, he’ll kill ya. Two very lightly armed dwarves, though? He’s got no reason to kill us, he’s got no need to go to war with our kind. We’ll tell ‘im we told all our people we were going to meet the kind, good wizard – that way, he can’t really kill us without coming up with a pretty good reason. An’ it’s sorta true – Bombur knows our plan. If anything happens to us, he’ll be able to tell any dwarf or elf who’ll listen that Saruman the White killed his family.” Bofur smiled proudly. “So, either we get the information we need about where Gandalf resides… or we die, and the dwarvish peoples wreak their terrible revenge on Isenguard.” Bifur nodded in agreement, patting Camillas clumsily. “So it’s settled.”
“What? No…No…I will not let you two walk into danger like that! He will know something is amiss…he always knows!” Camillas shook her head “I can’t just….” looking between the two dwarves, she knew she wouldn’t be able to convince them to go back home. “Save me from the stubbornness of dwarves” she muttered “Fine…but give me your word that you will run if anything seems….off”
With that, the group was off once again, heading towards the one place of the dragon’s nightmares…Isenguard. It didn’t take all that long to reach the tower, landing among the forest that surrounds it “Now…promise to call for me if you need me!”
"Aye, we'll be careful!" Bofur nodded, accepting the foot-up from his cousin to slide back onto the dragon's back. "Well, as careful as you can be in front of a powerful, cruel and malicious old wizard, that is!"
In the air, Bifur and Bofur discussed their plans in Khuzdul, with Bofur offering the occasional translation to Camillas when he felt she required his input. They would approach without trying to hide themselves (after all, they don't want to be placed under suspicion). Once Saruman had caught them, as he inevitably would, they would claim to be searching for their old friend Gandalf to invite him to the celebration of Durin’s Day in Erebor. They would make sure Saruman thought the dwarves had told many of their kind where they were going, so if they did not return, they would know where to look.
After they landed, Bofur hopped down and stretched out his legs and back before offering a hand to Bifur. “I promise, Camillas.” He smiled, turning to the black tower looming over the trees to the East,
Update #2
... My new tablet still hasn't shipped, despite the estimated shipping date having come and gone. The fact that this week is a bank holiday in the UK is only going to make it worse. I'll see if I can get some replies rolling this weekend while I have access to a working computer so Bofur doesn't pack his bags and leave me!
Update
I have a new computer on the way, probably due to arrive early next week. Bofur will be able to return properly then. Thanks for putting up with these technical difficulties in the mean time!
Disaster
So, my laptop has died. That was my primary method of accessing tumblr, and so as a result all of my threads, drabbles, asks etc may face a delay of several days while I source a replacement. NSFW stuff and drabbles will face the longest delays, as I cannot usually complete those on my work PC during breaks.
I'm really, really sorry. I can't access tumblr on my phone (a Blackberry), and have had to borrow a friend's PC to get this message up. I'll be back as soon as possible!!
"Must I?" Thorin lamented, then arched one brow at the other dwarf. "What about the balcony? I heard the view is... arousing."
“Hmm, yes, but whose view, eh? Don’t forget tha’ we might be able to see for miles… but folk for miles might be able t’ see us-!” Bofur stopped mid-sentence and peered at Thorin suspiciously. “But maybe that’s what you have in mind, eh?” A cheeky grin spread over his face.
