Not that I remember, but memories can be deceiving sometimes. At least, in my experience.
I think you’d remember living in a bubble. It’s a bit hard to miss.
hannahxbennet:
When he stood to his full height Hannah tried to look unimpressed by the way he towered above her and the fact the outfit clung to him in a way which showed he was quite in shape. There was no reason for her to act this way but she didn’t want to give the man the impression she wanted to look him over. However she considered enquiring how he’d feel about modeling for her at some point because there was something quite alluring about him. “Is your partner as inked as you?” she asked after she started the walk and going at a pace so he’d catch up to her.
“I think it was when I was in elementary school. We were given disposable cameras and told to take pictures of our daily lives to show to the class. I had fun setting up the shots and making sure it was taken at the right time. What made it harder was we didn’t have the option to erase what was taken. Once it was snapped it stuck and we only had the one camera with a 15 picture limit.” Hannah smiled throughout this and looked at him when she asked, “What got you into tattoos? You’re clearly a fan.”
“Not quite,” he said honestly. “Connor is a bit more subdued in his tattoos.” Not by much, truthfully, but he had more free canvas than Ronan did currently. “He’s still got a lot on him, but it’s not as overt.” Ronan’s ink was far more noticeable. Connor had his arms done and his chest, but it was easily covered with shirts. Ronan’s ink wasn’t coverable without a considerable amount of work. He could do it... with most anyway. His hands were the ones that were hardest. Gloves could work but he wouldn’t be able to do anything if he walked around with gloves on all the time.
A soft smile spread across his lips when she was telling him about her first foray into taking pictures. He knew nothing about this woman... had he even caught her name? He didn’t think so. But just that little glimpse was adorable and a thing of beauty. “I bet that was a site to see,” he said honestly. “A little kid staging life to get the perfect shot... Finding the beauty in the way life framed itself. That’s... That’s how I got into tattooing. Well, sorta. I used to draw on everything,” he told her. “It used to drive my dad nuts. Everything from myself to random bits of paper were used for doodles and sometimes all out pictures. When I was in High School, my friends used to let me draw on them, too. I always had a sharpy marker on me.” He still did, honestly. There was one in his back pocket as they spoke. It was a pretty easy transition when I dropped out.”
evewithan-n:
“Yeah… Donovan and Niamh Reed, the ginger twins of Havenoaks. Though he’s not of Havenoaks these days. Probably never will be again. I think he likes his New York life better.” Can’t say I blame him, she thought. Their little hometown had seen better days. “I bet he’s not missing that tail too much… There’s always new tail, even in a place as tiny as this.”
“New York is a one of a kind place,” Ronan said with a nod. “It’s easy to fall in love with.” He likely wouldn’t have left had his buddy not gotten himself tangled up in a relationship and pulled the shop's location from him. “I don’t think my buddy is having a hard time finding hookups. He never does.”
ez-berry:
“Oh, I’m absolutely trying to blame an inanimate object for my shortcomings. Better than confronting the truth.” Ezra was joking, but he did like the idea that the fire could’ve started through no fault of his own. “It was the dish towels in the kitchen with the gas stove… and that’s how you win Clue.”
“It’s also how you burn the house down,” Ronan laughed. “You’re a chef? I’ll be to avoid your restaurant.” It was a joke, Ronan was actually kind of wondering what food the guy cooked. He might even be willing to check out the restaurant the guy ran... so long as flaming dish towel wasn’t on the menu.
troublemaker-below:
“Hmmm… I’ll consider it.” Somehow, he trusted the man not to write anything too terrible on him. There was something devilish about him, but that wasn’t the same as being properly evil, was it? Perhaps it was how handsome he was, while his personality seemed almost kind, something that came as a surprise to Eduardo. It wasn’t that he expected anything in particular out of the guy, but he sort of expected all people to be unkind. It was what he’d seem in most.
“Seems like a good way to use what you do for good… Create beauty where…” He tried to think of a good way to finish that sentence. It wasn’t that people who’d been through such things weren’t beautiful, but that they felt like they weren’t. “You create a way for beautiful people who don’t feel that way to feel beautiful again… So they can see in themselves what the rest of us see in them.”
Listening to the list Ronan gave, Eduardo tried to place faces or names to the descriptions and came up short. Attractive blondes were a dime a dozen in this town, though Eduardo hadn’t ever really been interested. They weren’t quite his type… Something about being far too sunny, in appearance and personality. “Does the cop thing appeal to you? I’ve known a lot of badge bunnies in my time, but you don’t strike me as that type.”
“Ronan… ‘little seal.’ Family name?”
The half smile that split Ronan’s lips was soft but pleasing just as his eyes lit up. He liked the way this man described what he did as a tattoo artist. It was an unconventional way of looking at it, but it was absolutely the right way of looking at it. Ronan wasn’t making people beautiful because of his art, he was making his art beautiful because of the people. The people that walked into his shop didn’t need the ink to be beautiful or exist, but the ink, in all its delicate lines, needed the people. “That’s exactly what I do,” he said with a nod.
At the question about the badge, he shook his head. “Naw, I don’t care one bit about the badge, it just caught my attention because my pops is a cop back in Chicago. The guy was good looking regardless. There are a few others running around this place that are good looking as well. Petit Blonde with green eyes. Always wears a camera around her neck.” Ronan had very much liked the look of her, perhaps more so than any of the others he’d found himself running into.
“I think its just a cultural name. Donavon is my last name. My Dad’s name is Sean. The whole family is deep in the Celtic roots,” he told the guy. “My gran was Shannon. You can’t escape the Irish and Scottish blood in my family.”
princeton-michael:
Luck?
Perhaps that’s it. You sure you weren’t raised in a bubble?
evewithan-n:
“I’m sure I will… Gotta go check up on Donovan eventually.” Her brother was enjoying living out there, far away from anyone in the family who might “check up” on him, but Niamh wasn’t going to judge or rat him out, especially now that their parents were barely speaking to her. “Ooh… so did he like the place or did he like the tail enough to stick with it for awhile?”
Ronan’s eyebrows shot up and he chuckled. “Your brother’s name is Donovan?” He asked unable to ignore the humor in the fact that her brother had the same first name as he had last. Ronan shrugged at her question. “The tail is gone but he’s still here so I’m guessing it was the place.”
ez-berry:
It’s a thing, I swear. Completely not my fault. I’m not that clumsy, not me.
A smirk spread across Ronan’s lips. “I’m not sure if I know you well enough to by that. It sounds like you might be trying to blame an inanimate object for your shortcomings,” he teased.
sweet-chloe:
Chloe’s blue eyes rounded when he stuck his tongue out, surprised he did it and while she looked in awe he mentioned pulling his shirt up and the girl’s face went through three different shades of red before she looked down and laughed. It came across a giggle and she tried to reel herself in. “No,” she said as she shook her head, eye back on him when she tried her best not to imagine him without a shirt on. “That’s okay. Don’t want people to think I’m going around asking guys to take their shirts off for me. I can only imagine the gossip that’ll come from it.”
Her blush was exactly the reaction Ronan was looking for and he felt exeedingly pleased with himself for causing it. He was not a shy man, walking around with his shirt off wasn’t a big deal, but for some it certainly could be considered indecent. He shrugged. “If the town is so determined to gossip, they’ll find something no matter what. The thing I’ve found about gossip is that a very small margin of it is true.” He looked down at her chicken nuggets, the pile of fast food death staring back at the both of them. “I’m Ronan.”
matthew-davidson:
“That’s how I look at it but most of the emergencies we get called in aren’t the type that need the siren. The last fire I responded to wasn’t even in this city. I’m certain you heard about all the wildfires that torched large chunks of land and homes. I volunteered because the departments there were drained from how brutal it all was.” Matt went serious while he spoke, something he didn’t do often and he caught himself and tried to steer away from that particular conversation. Which was good timing because a compliment went his way and Matt tend to eat those up like candy.
“I do keep myself in great shape. The uniform hides most of this though.” He needed to stop with the flirting. It was something innocent he did but he didn’t want to give the guy the false impression he was single. “When were the last batch of fliers done? You could always get a head start and have them ready to go.”
“Okay, Ronan with two n’s. I’m Matt with two t’s.” He grinned and laughed at his own bad joke. “How long you’ve been here? I walk this way most of the time and I remember the name of the shop changed. Guessing that’s when you rolled in?”
Ronan nodded as the man spoke. He’d seen them on the news, though he hadn’t been living around the area at the time. He’s seen on the news something about the firefighters saving a historic lodge at one of the waterfalls around. Oregon was about as far away from New York as you could get, but the falls in the area were something that Ronan had found himself drawn to. He’d found his way to the Gorge and up to Multnomah falls a few times. Come to think of it... “Were you part of the crew that saves that Lodge at Multnomah Falls? I saw a bit of it on the news and read a couple articles when I got to town just reading up on the history of things.”
He thought it was pretty cool that this guy was out there helping when it was needed. There was no argument from anyone that firefighting was a worthy and dangerous profession. The men and women behind those suits and those trucks were heroes. “I imagine you have to keep yourself in top shape. That gear is heavy and you’re running around. Fat and flabby isn’t an option.” The guy was handsome as well, but Ronan had already told him that.
He chuckled at the question about the fliers. He’d been joking.. mostly. “Before I got here. My partner created the first batch. Perhaps I’ll see about finding a photographer and setting up session for the new batch.” He wasn’t at egotistical but showcasing the talents of artists on his body and making people see tattoos as beautiful was something he wanted to do. “About two weeks, Matt,” he extended the sound of the ta at the end of his name to emphasize the two t’s and grinned happily. “That’s exactly when we rolled in.”
hannahxbennet:
She was the first, or so he said. Hannah decided to toss him a bone and eased up. Slightly. “Do you have time to walk to the gym? It’s not far from here and I prefer to show people instead of direct them.” Hannah looked down at her camera and turned it off, removing the lens and stashing it securing in the bag which hung next to her hip. “I’m Hannah Bennet.” she said as soon as she zipped it, offering her hand to shake. “I’m a freelance photographer and journalist. Are you the owner of this studio?” she pointed to the place behind him with her eyes, not needing to actually physically point. She had a tendency to come across as all business at times but she did have a softness to her which showed while she spoke; smiling kindly at the man.
Ronan did in fact have time to walk, it was part of why he’d asked her if she knew where it was. If she had given him directions and gone on her way he at least could have followed them. He stood up from the ground where he’d been sitting and used his hands to dust off his backside and straighten out his clothing. “Yeah,” he said with a nod. “I got time.” He took her hand when she offered it and delicately but firmly gave it a shake. It was a strange contrast, her smooth unmarred skin next to his rough, ink-stained skin.
“Ronan. I am indeed... well, part owner” Ink Therapy wasn’t just his, though there were days when he felt like the only one running it. “Been a tattoo artist for years. How’d you get into photography?” He asked as they started walking. It was a subject, one of the few in school, which had actually held his attention because it was one he didn’t know much about. All the other subjects in school Ronan could probably have schooled the actual teachers on.
msalidilaurentis:
“I hope you find it too.” Alison mused. Before walking away, she thought to herself that she somewhat had a connection with someone who worked at a gym. “Actually… Have you met Victor Martinez yet? He’s a personal trainer at the gym nearby.” She mused.
“Thanks,” he said with a nod and went back to lounging on the side of the building, enjoying the square patch of sun that was warming his face. His eyes opened, delicate blue-green irises glancing over at the blonde who hadn’t moved on like he’d expected. “I don’t think I have.” He’d never heard the name before. “He works at the gym?”
hannahxbennet:
There was something about his comment which caused Hannah to look away from him, concealing an eye rolls as she let the camera dangle from her neck before she crossed her arms. Great. He was one of those guys, the type who probably catcall women or say things to make them feel uncomfortable. She thought she left that behind when she moved. But he carried on and she decided to try not to let that momentary blip affect her judgement since this was still considered a first impression. “Ah. Well you’re the first I’ve come across who uses this method. How has it gone for you?” Her arms remained crossed but she decided to humor him with that question, a ghost of a smile graced her lips a couple seconds later.
Ronan snorted. “No idea, you’re the first one I’ve tried it on,” he said honestly. “I’m guessing not so well.” She really was pretty but Ronan hadn’t been looking to woo anyone when he asked about the gym. “I really just wanted to know where the gym was located. I’m new around these parts and don’t know where shit is.” One of these days he would make time to explore but when his days were booked solid with tattoos, his energy was null. He ran in the park in the mornings but he needed the weights now.
matthew-davidson:
“We try not to blare that thing at night but sometimes we get a new guy and they get ahead of themselves.” he shook his head and sighed. “So you do both tattoos and piercings in there? You’re a great spoke person for your own place. You’re attractive, too. Can see that working in favor with attracting people into the shop.” Matt said honestly, smiling at the guy. “Is that Roman or Ronan?” he asked, enunciating the m and the n in the names to make sure he got them right. “Welcome to the city. Been here a few years. It’s not bad. The town’s been growing since I got here. There’s word a Starbucks might open. That’s when you know you made it big.” Matt’s laugher started up halfway through the sentence. There were people who were opposed one coming here but it was bound to happen.
Ronan shrugged. “It’s not a big deal. If that thing is blaring, someone obviously has bigger problems than me. Who am I to complain about being woken up when someone’s whole like if burning down?” His father was a cop, he understood first responders far better than most people.
“Both are done here, yeah. I only do tattoos though, I have others that do piercings.” A smile spilt his lips, making him look all the more handsome. “Well, thank you. You certainly live up to the fireman hype.” The man was very attractive, Ronan wasn’t ashamed to admit that. “Perhaps you’re right. I should model for the flyers for the shop next time. Maybe it’ll bring in more revenue.”
“Two,” he held up his fingers, the skull on his palm poking through the open spot, “Ns. Ronan.” he said. He had been called Roman a few times in his life. “It’s Irish.”
sweet-chloe:
Chloe’s stare needed to stop. It took some will power for her to pry her eyes from his neck, curious if it hurt like hell to get a tattoo there. And as soon as her eyes were back on his face there was a glint of something in his mouth. At first she thought it was his teeth but it was too bright. “Do you-” she started and she felt like such an inquisitive child asking a stranger about the way they chose to treat their body. It was fascinating. Different. “Do you have a ring in your tongue? I’ve heard of people who get those and there were a couple people in school who had them but I never actually got a chance to see it up close.” Did she basically asked this person she doesn’t know to show her his tongue ring?
Ronan cocked a brow at the woman before letting out a bark of a laugh. “Yeah, he said smoothly. He stuck his tongue out and wiggled it around a bit so that she could see the piercing. “I got a couple different piercings on me. Would you like me to lift my shirt? I have my nipples pierced too.” He was only half kidding. If she asked him to, he’d do it. Ronan was many things. Shy wasn’t one of them.
collinhgreyson:
“They weren’t like alive or anything right? Because that’d be really horrible if they were.” He stated, even though the mental image of this big tattoo’d guy running after a pig who was running him in circles in a pen began making it’s way into his mind. Shaking the thought off, Collin looked at the other male, scratching at the stubble on his cheek. “That’s a long fucking time to be holding something like that. How’d the person take it?” Collin had never gotten a tattoo before, so he didn’t know what a needle to the skin perpetually would feel like.
Ronan’s lips pinched together at the question. He was really hoping the guy was joking about the pigs being alive. Ronan was a vegetarian, he would never do that to a live animal that had no say. At least human’s had the ability to make choices for themselves. “Yeah, it can get tiring.” It wasn’t the longest session he’d had, but it was a decent stretch. “Which is why I’m out in the cold and relaxing. I’ve got a four-hour session at 5 so I’m taking advantage of the downtime.”
laurcndersn:
The brunette offered him a wide grin as soon as he said he was alright with going on a little walk. It wasn’t too cold out, and they wouldn’t be gone long enough for either of them to get too cold, so she wasn’t all that worried. “So,” She paused, and placed her hands in her pockets. “What possessed you to come to this little ol’ place? I mean, I highly doubt Havenoaks is one of the biggest names on a map to begin a business in.”
“Truthfully... A friend convinced me to set up shop.” Ronan had taken his share of the business in New York and decided to travel. He wanted to learn more about tattooing techniques. He’d honestly considered heading back to Hawaii and learning more about the tribal tattooing. It helped that there was a handsome native whose bed would be welcoming, but instead, he’d changed his trajectory and ended up in this dreary little town. He still might jet off to Hawaii. Amos was an enticing creature and not easy to get out of your system.
