What an honor and a privilege to be deemed Teacher of the Year for the second year in a row!

I share this award with countless other teachers who work tirelessly and selflessly, day in and day out, many times unseen and unrecognized.

As this school year comes to a close, I can’t help but think of Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia, who died while doing this very job I call my own. I ponder what must have gone through their minds in those last moments. Moments I am forced to prepare and brace myself for at any given moment. This profession of educating our future leaders and citizens of the world is not for the faint of heart. It is a career that calls us to put our lives on the line to protect your children.

2020 will be one to remember. Now we’re in different districts in new positions with their own challenges. We even decided to continue our higher ed in the midst of the pandemic.
