So guys on Instagram I asked you if you would like to see how I take notes with my laptop. The apps I use are :
It’s a Microsoft application in which I do and organize practically everything school/blog related. I do have also an agenda though.
First thing you can create are the notebooks, you can organize them for subjects, courses, year basically anything you want..As you can see guys I have 4 Notebooks:
After that, you can organize the section inside of the notebooks
ToDo’s (it’s general but I didn’t know where to put it heheh)
Livestream is a particular section since there is only a table where I register when I record/live stream. I have a color code relative to the hours I do that and once is on YouTube and the other for Instagram.
As for the college/university notebooks the things are a bit different...
in the image below you can see how my Bioinformatic course is organized:
the section have been subcategorized for a first and second semester
after that, I wrote the course title and added the pages.
as the first page, I have the curve of forgetting and underneath all the chapters with the notes and this goes for all the subject
Emergency Medicine is organized differently as I have a different type of course and all of them are annual and not divided into semesters.
As you can see I have no main section whith the subsection, I just have all the courses names. I have, though, the main page with a table where chapters are written with my 3 goals ( R-W-R) and then subpages where the actual notes are, as you can see in the images down below.
You can really organize everything easily
You can access everywhere form the web, tablets and phones
You can add tables, references, pdfs, files and recording.
Love how I don’t have a fixed format and I can add and move things around on the page.
Difficult to format for a print version
Limited in the colors for the tabs and notebooks
this is the second app I use for my study sessions on my laptop, I love how I can store a lot of books in it and how I can type notes, flashcards and do mind maps just in one app! Unfortunately, it’s a Purchase app!
This is how the main page looks like, on the left, you can see the categories of the books you upload with the + sign on the up right side.
Once you enter a notebook this is how it’s formatted the app:
Attention: not all PDFs can be highlighted with the text options because they are scanned books so the the option you need to use is the squiggly line :D
You can choose three types of highlighting:
As you can see I used all the three depending really on the type of things I need. You can also draw on them (things I don’t really do ) and undermine freehand.
the two bars on the sides are:
left: outline of the highlighted things
right: notes and comments done with the bubble icons on the bottom right.
on top of the book you have four options, visualize just the pdf/book, the pdf with the outline/mindmap bar, just the mind map, or just the flashcards.
this is another book where I did the flashcards, as you can see it’s a great way to revise because you create them extracting peace of info from the text and it shows you where the correct answer is, the colour of the flashcard (green for me are definitions and keywords) and the tag, these are #Q&A#.
I love how I can annotate, create mind maps, flashcards and outlines all in one app
the user-friendly type of the app
how I can store so many textbooks and categorize them
App in purchase as well as the pro version that is expensive
the fact that only in the pro version I can open two PDFs simultaneously
the possibility to attach the app only to Evernote and only in the Pro Version ( or in the in-purchase app option)
Hope you guys find it informative.
I do use also Word/Pages for the notes I need to print out or I just copy and paste everything and rearrange it into a printable version.
