Eating a grain like corn is usually not a top food choice anyways, but whoa! on Monsanto's GMO corn. According to a side-by-side comparison with non-GMO corn, Monsanto's corn has very little nutritional value and it's filled with toxins. Formaldehyde? Non-GMO corn, on the other hand, provides a lot of valuable nutrients. I found it interesting that Monsanto, in 2011, asked the EPA to raise the upper limits of acceptable toxic Glyphosate content for corn to 13 from 6 - more than double - coincidence? Or did Monsanto run the same tests on their franken corn and see the high Glyphosate levels and THEN requested the EPA to raise the limits? Which, of course, the EPA went along with.
The FDA went along with Monsanto saying that "there is no difference between GMO corn and non-GMO corn" yet clearly there is a huge difference. Monsanto GMO corn is significantly inferior on every level. Based on this very telling report, shouldn't the FDA require an immediate recall of GMO corn and an investigation into all of Monsanto's GMO crops and foods?
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated. I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man. I feel that spiritual progress does demand at some stage that we should cease to kill our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily wants. I do not regard flesh-food as necessary for us at any stage and under any clime in which it is possible for human beings ordinarily to live. I hold flesh-food to be unsuited to our species.

This MyLux bag is so cute and unique - love the buttons. It comes in black - like that one too. It's hard to decide which one to get.
Why Can We Eat Lots of Nuts Without Getting Fat?
Interesting article explaining why nuts are such good snacks and how eating whole nuts locks in some of the fats so it doesn't get absorbed by the digestive system as opposed to nut butters where most or all of the fat is released as available energy.

GUNAS Rockstar Vegan Purse Red Patent
Absolutely LOVE the RED, and the buckles and the chain and the design. :) This is the best color of the three (there's also White/Gold, Black/Gold).
Environmental Footprint of Vegetarian Diets 30% Lower, say Researchers
"If the evidence that plant-based diets are better for human health is compelling, the evidence that they are better for the planet is indisputable, delegates at the 6th International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition were told." "According to recent estimates, 80% of greenhouse gas emissions of all food production arises from livestock, claimed Samuel Soret, PhD, Professor of Environmental Health and Geoinformatics Sciences at Loma Linda University School of Public Health."

WATCH OUT FOR THIS CARCINOGEN IN PEANUTS/PEANUT BUTTER
Important points to know about peanuts:
They are loaded with omega-6 fats that distort the omega 3:6 ratio
They are frequently contaminated with a carcinogenic mold called aflatoxin
Peanuts are one of the most pesticide-contaminated crops
Fortunately, there are some relatively safe ways to reduce these negative effects. First, you can obtain Arrowhead Mills organic peanut butter. These peanuts are grown in New Mexico, and aflatoxin has not been reported to be a problem in that state due to the dry conditions. The organic version of the peanut butter is also pesticide free. THE DARK SIDE OF SOY
The vast majority of soy at your local market is not a health food (the exception is fermented soy). Even worse than regular soy is GMO soy that is contaminated with a large amount of pesticide residues as the reason it is GMO is so they can spray the potent toxic herbicide Roundup on them to improve crop production by killing the weeds.
Unlike the Asian culture, where people eat small amounts of whole non-GMO soybean products, western food processors separate the soybean into two golden commodities—protein and oil. And there is nothing natural or safe about these products.
Dr. Kaayla Daniel, author of The Whole Soy Story, points out thousands of studies linking soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, immune-system breakdown, thyroid dysfunction, cognitive decline, reproductive disorders and infertility—even cancer and heart disease.
