"Brazilian hand games and American hand games!!!! Realizing that the art of hand games comes from Africa! I never thought about it before. It was just embedded in our childhood."
"The collective consciousness is real"
"My goodness. We played this in Nigeria too."
There's a documentary with @jamilawoods called "Black Girls Play" about the history of handclap games in the US and their importance in the Black community. And a book before it called The Games Black Girls Play, by Kyra D. Gaunt.
This morning I asked the Lord for a promise from his Word, hungry to hear from him to my heart personally. His Word is for us, and I don’t want to have so much pride that I do not ask him to show me what he has in his Word for me to meditate on. He brought me to Psalm 107, verse 35 specifically: “He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.” This perfectly correlates with what I read earlier in Isaiah. Other verses, above, also spoke to me.
Beloved, what promise is the Lord putting on your heart and mind? Is it to hush the waves, for a fruitful yield, to satisfy longings? Pray, confessing your sin (we don’t approach without repentance, “If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” Psalm 66:18), and ask for him to show you promises in his Word. We don’t demand from God (who are we to do this!), but we do ask and receive as children with a parent who longs to give them good-for-them gifts. Partake! His Word is for us. For his glory. May the Lord personally speak to you as you pray, confess, ask, and study.
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. 2 Peter 1:4
Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) This drunken noodles recipe is my answer to a fast dinner, with thick rice noodles, chicken, basil, and Chinese broccoli in a glossy savory sauce with just enough sweetness and heat. I stir fry everything in one pan and have it ready to serve in 15 minutes.
