hi hello!! this is a dreams in the witch house sideblog for @wyrmalien, because i wanted a place to post thoughts, gather ideas/inspiration, and eventually log the process of a costume design project that i’ll be undertaking for my theatre minor :-)

Keziah Mason is so tragically beautiful; I’m not sure how else to describe her. She’s a mathematician, she’s a scientist, she’s a scholar, she’s bold, she’s defeated, she’s wicked, she’s human, she’s alien, she’s nothing, she’s everything, but at the end of the day, she’s just a girl. Yet, she’ll be immortalized as a witch because that’s all she is and ever will be.
keziah mason. woman in stem. put on trial for witchcraft but geometry-ed so well that she unlocked interdimensional travel and got away. spent the rest of eternity travelling the universe with occasional detours back to Earth. fucked up rat man familiar. tried to get a maths student into her deal but he was just chicken to go along with it. hangs out with the Elder Things on the casual when most other humans see an Elder Thing and run away screaming. she got away with all of it. there were also the killings too but god forbid women do anything.

the funny thing about all the god awful dreams in the witch house film adaptations is that it's not even a HARD story to get right. sure the original sucks but that's for execution reasons not concept reasons. we could have had a dozen perfectly fine witch house films by now. not amazing ones but perfectly serviceable cosmic horror films about mathematics. unfortunately everyone who has tried to adapt it to film has done it has taken absolutely nothing from the original concept and has made it far more stupid than anyone thought possible
