The exhibition is coming to a close, as we are now walking through the final days. However it will live on in these limited edition exhibition catalogues!
Pick yours up for $5 on the final weekend of the exhibition! M16 Artspace is open from 12-5pm Wednesday - Sunday. 21 Blaxland Cresent, Griffith ACT.
Sneak preview of my favourite works from the show! Be sure to come and check this piece out in person at M16 tomorrow night for our opening.

Install! Install! Install!
Progress shots of Ellen, Yasmin and Jem installing sections of their work. Getting everything perfect for the opening this Thursday night.
Many of my drawings are presented in the format of scaled up microscope slides - as I zoom in on the intricate patterns and textures that I find within the urban environment.

Detail of Bougainville Street, Manuka (footpath study), copic marker on stonehenge paper.
My drawings are made up of hundreds, probably thousands, of tiny dots. The repetition in this technique becomes for me a meditative process.

Announcement!
We are delighted to announce, that David Sequeira is opening In Translation!
David is currently the Executive Director at M16 Artspace, has graced the halls of Parliament House and the National Gallery of Australia. He loves all things colour and pattern and will make this opening, one not to be missed. So see you all there on Thursday the 11th of September at 6pm!
Philip Hunter, Small Plain 4, 2003, Etching, 23.5 x 17.7 (plate size) *Represented by Olsen Irwin Gallery, 63 Jersey Road Woohllahra NSW Sydney. Hunter is one of the main Artists who sparked my interest in the Australian Landscape. It is his broad range of marks, materials and technique that makes his artworks so powerful to the viewer. This image above is one of his smaller works, yet still contains the same impact, detail and originality. It was these aspects that truly influenced my artworks for the In Translation Exhibition.
Kelly Hayes- This particular painting is influenced by the tropical flowers/plants found in the Green House at National Botanic Gardens. This is one of my final paintings for the show. I enjoy the detail and texture seen in these shots.
New notebook. New pen. aka - catalogue writing time.

Kelly Hayes- This week has been tough and this exhibition has given me something to focus on. Thank you Ellen for organising this exhibition and I'm excited to see my artworks come alive on the computer screen. Getting ready for the catalogue! Start saving that pocket money!! :)
Work in progress, copic marker on stonehenge paper.
Through my drawing technique, I magnify the intricate patterns that I find within urban surfaces, transforming the textures into surfaces made up of thousands of tiny dots – a meditative process that is a way to investigate our experience of the world around us.
