I finally got to see GOTG2 yesterday and it was fucking excellent Marvel just keep on churning out slices of fucking solid gold
Also last week was my birthday and I'm really old now
Bill Mantlo co-created Rocket Raccoon, and thanks to a new deal with Marvel, will move out of the nursing home he lives in and into a new house.
Bill Mantlo is a legendary creator known for his work on “Cloak and Dagger”, “The Incredible Hulk” and “ROM: Spaceknight,” but thanks to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, he’s best known for being a co-creator of the foul-mouthed space rodent, Rocket Raccoon.
Mantlo has also been living in a nursing home since he was injured in a hit-and-run accident twenty-five years ago. Now, thanks to a new deal struck with Marvel Comics, he has been able to move out and into a home all of his own, as reported by his brother Mike Mantlo in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter.

In 1992, Bill Mantlo was hit by a car while rollerblading and was diagnosed with a closed head traumatic brain injury which left him with permanent brain damage. According to his brother, “Bill has never recovered the cognitive skills that were stolen from him.” Several years ago, before the release of the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, there was a fan campaign to raise money for Bill’s treatment along with awareness for his role in creating one of the biggest breakout stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The campaign was championed by many industry professionals, particularly writer Greg Pak, and Mantlo received an early viewing of the film at his nursing home, giving it a big thumbs up.
According to Mike Mantlo, “Marvel negotiated and agreed to a very nice compensation package for the rights to use Bill’s characters,” indicating the deal may also include Cloak and Dagger, who debut their own television show on Freeform later this year. Right now, thanks to the new arrangement with Marvel, Mike is preparing to move Bill out of the nursing home and into a brand new house next door to him and his wife. Marvel has also arranged for Bill to receive a viewing of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” on Saturday, May 6.
Mike Mantlo also urges fans of Bill’s to go to his website or the Bill Mantlo Support Fund Facebook page to find more ways with which they can help out the legendary creator.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” opens in the US and Canada on May 5. The movie stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Glenn Close as Irani Rael and Kurt Russell as Ego.
New FOB on the same day as Gorillaz and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, all two days after my birthday I can't handle how cool my birthday is this year
we got recognised at our local dog friendly cafe for our supportive messages on social media so we're basically internet famous now
there are several feelings you could describe as the best in the world but for me it's when my dog gets excited to see me like idk man his life revolves around us and this lil dude was born a stray in a different country and had no one and he'd gone into a family and been brought back again and we'd lost my previous dog a few months before and my family had been torn apart by it and when we first met at the rescue he was so timid and I cried my eyes out having to put him into his kennel even though we had reserved him but we needed our home check before we got him and I thought about that lil dude thinking he'd been abandoned again and then when he finally arrived he was so unsure and scared and slowly he started to show his personality (personality type: cheeky asshole) and heal my family as he started to realise he was staying with us and now that lil asshole gets excited to see me and I swear he fucking rolls his eyes at me when I pick him up and tell him he's a good boy and I remember a time when I never saw his tail wag and now it goes all the time and it warms my fucking heart because he's confident and he knows I got his back he's my sweetheart so what I'm saying is if you're ever in the privileged position to welcome a dog into your home plz go adopt a doggo that thought they'd have no one and go give them everything because they have SO fucking much to give
Don’t be a pussy
THIS IS FROM HIS MOST RECENT SPECIAL ON NETFLIX IT’S SO FUNNY AND WOKE 17/10 RECOMMEND

reasons you should adopt black cats 1. they’re adopted less bc of superstition 2. the fuzzy one look like soot motes 3. people think you’re a witch and leave you alone 4. Every picture you take of them looks like a void with glowing eyes which is inadvertently hilarious

The LUSH Charity Pot that supports an organization that straight-up lies about successful conservation efforts to push their agenda.
I am pretty damn angry at LUSH this morning, because one of the organizations they are currently running a Charity Pot for - CompassionWorks International - has spent the day purposefully slandering and lambasting all conservation efforts done by any and every zoo. In fact, their webpage declares that they exist to do battle against “the circus, the rodeo, marine mammal confinement, zoos, horse racing, trophy hunting, factory farming and other industries that put dollars ahead of lives.” I commend LUSH’s commitment to moving away from animal testing, but what the support of this wholly unprofessional non-profit dedicated to misleading the public in support of an anti-science, anti-conservation agenda - loses the company my support, and I hope, yours.
Yesterday, April the giraffe gave birth. While the rest of us were learning from a close-up view of a natural process we’d never get to see otherwise, CompassionWorks International posted this:
Needless to say, zoo staff around the world were pretty upset by this misrepresentation of the ethos of good, modern zoos, and tried to contact their page to do education about how AZA-accredited zoos are the leaders in conservation projects around the world. Rather than engaging in a dialogue with them - as is the appropriate response from an organization whose actual agenda is to educate the public - CompassionWorks International deleted all the comments they disagreed with, reveling in the ‘battle’ with evil zookeepers, and then blocking anyone who dared to try to do any education on or related to their page. Here are just a sample of their posts about it:
LUSH, this is not what I want my money to support - and I have been an avid supporter of your company. CompassionWorks International has proved themselves to not be an organization that legitimately campaigns for the betterment of animals - they’re exploiting and perpetuating misinformation and using shock value to prop-up an agenda. They have taunted, blasphemed, and blocked people in the last 24 hours who have spent their entire lives working to support endangered species and they have deleted posts talking about successful conservation projects they were unable to refute. CompassionWorks International is blatantly lying when they say that good zoos do not contribute to conservation; a small samples of species zoos have brought back from the brink of extinction and re-established in the wild contains black-footed ferrets, Cayman blue iguanas, Araban oryx, Attwater’s prarie chickens, whooping cranes, red wolves, and golden lion tamarins).
LUSH, your support of this company and their online behavior is appalling. I expect better of a company that is actually dedicated to improving animal welfare. I expect you, at the very least, to actually vet the ethos of the organizations my money goes to support when I buy your products - much less, I actually expected you to support organizations involved in active efforts to improve welfare, not run radical animal rights campaigns that dupe the public with twisted rhetoric and tear-jerking photos.
Followers, I don’t usually use this blog to be a political platform, but I’m appalled and pissed off, and this falls under the realm for this blog of being a critical consumer of organizations and companies involved in animal advocacy. If you disagree with LUSH’s support of this non-profit, like I do, you can email them at [email protected], tweet at them at @lushcosmetics, or tag them on tumblr at @lushcosmetics.
I suggest you tag @lushcosmetics in your reblog so that they notice, and include a note about your favorite successful conservation project that zoos have supported.
Tweeted them and had this answer :
Confirmation that Lush is still actively supporting CWI, even without a current Charity Pot label dedicated to the organization.
If you have feelings about Lush’s continued support of an organization that is attempting to gaslight the public by denying the existence of successful conservation and reinroduction projects, it is best to comment on their Facebook page or tweet at them at @lushcosmetics
2017 is here, so it’s time to remind everybody that Thor is the biggest, sweetest idiot in the whole nine realms and Kid Loki is dead and nobody knows cuz nobody loved him, nobody mourned him, nobody missed him except me. I’m still crying over his death.
