suggested, thank you!
I give up on adding quotes for now so the purple text is details. In this, the reader is in the hospital and their breathing after surgery hasn’t been great.

Hi sweetheart, you’re breathing isn’t looking so good. You need to be put on a ventilator alright.
you give her a disappointed expression
I know honey, it may be a little uncomfortable but you will be more comfortable than you are now. Right now you’re struggling, we don’t want that right. Okay so we’re going to put you to sleep and then intubate you. You’re just going to take a little nap for us okay.
The bed was pushed down and two nurses were there.
Ok i’m going to give you a little bit of oxygen and once that looks good you’re going to sleep.
She said as she took off your oxygen mask and replaced it with a puffy one and started pumping oxygen to you. Your lungs filled with the fresh air, your heart rate spiking from being anxious.
Okay, Kayleigh here is going to send you on a nap ok. Your oxygen looks better now honey just keep relaxing for me you’re doing good.
You started to feel drowsy and went to sleep quickly.
Good, there you go.
The tube was slipped in your throat and you were connected to the ventilator. Your bed was moved back up for support.
You woke up about an hour later. The ventilator hissed softly and you got used to it pretty quickly.

You had been in a pretty terrible car accident. You were unconscious and a bystander had called an ambulance. You were on your way home from work and a car had completely hit the driver side of your car. Your car was completely demolished and it was very difficult to get you out of the car. You had been taken to the hospital and things weren’t looking great.
You had broken multiple ribs which had punctured your left lung. Your neck was fractured and your left arm was broken as well. Thankfully, your leg was just really bruised but so was the rest of your body from the impact.
Your boyfriend had been called as he’s your emergency contact. He had been waiting for you at home as he was preparing a bath for you as you described work being rough earlier when you texted him.
You woke up hazy and confused as you were being rushed into the emergency room. There were people pushing you on the stretcher and you felt an oxygen mask on your face. You were in unbelievable amounts of pain but you didn’t really care.
“She’s going to get some x-rays and then she will likely need surgery. No crash that awful ever ends in any good” you heard someone say.
You were zoning in and out while you got scans done. Than a doctor came in to tell you that you needed to have surgery.
You started crying as all you wanted right now was your boyfriend. You really didn’t know what was going on but you know you wanted him with you.
You woke up in a bright white room. You felt really numb from all of the medication you were on. They gave you some time to adjust before asking you if they could bring in your boyfriend and telling you what happened.
No no please don’t, he’s going to leave me if he sees me like this.
Sweetheart he’s not going to. He loves you very much and is worried about you, he’s been waiting hours to see you.
He’s going to be upset.
He’s been worried about you dear. You have to have surgery soon, you should talk to him before going.
You finally agreed on letting him in but you felt too embarrassed to face him.
He walked into the room and went right to you. Right as you saw him, you started crying. You didn’t want to give him more reasons to make his live stressful.
Sweetheart, don’t cry honey I’m right here. I love you, i’m not leaving your side okay honey.
You were taken into the operating room which was full of people running around. You were already being given oxygen through a nasal cannula. The table was cold and there were various drapes being put in you.
Alright sweetheart, you are going to take a nap for us okay. Take big deep breaths for us, no gas yet just oxygen. Good, there you go.
Okay, you might get a funny taste and smell now. I want you to take big deep breaths again. You will go to sleep soon sweetheart. We’ll see you soon. Good job, beautiful.
They intubated you and taped your eyes shut.
Your surgery went on to last 6 hours. They operated on your lungs and your arm which was crushed from the accident. You were all bandaged up before being taken to the room again. Your arm was also in a cast and in a sling.
You remained on the ventilator after surgery as you were taken into the ICU.
Your boyfriend came over to watch you as he carefully rubbed your shoulders and hand waiting for you to wake up.
When you woke up, hours later, you did a big no no. You got anxious and tried to pull on the ventilator. You began to gag and started to panic.
Sweetheart hey hey, no stop honey.
He went over and pulled your arm away from it. The ventilator had alerted the nurses who came in to help.
Honey you can’t pull it, it’s helping you.
She had to add a soft restraint to your free arm so it wouldn’t happen again. You were frustrated and started to cry.
Don’t cry honey, it’s okay. We just don’t want you to hurt yourself again, it’s scary.
He wiped your tears and you had become too exhausted that you went back to sleep.

Night time in the ICU and Faye remains stable on life support. Tubes and wires are all over her
EKG wires criss cross her chest as she is hooked up to breathing and feeding tubes
Sunny is tubed and bagged. Electrodes are all over her chest
a short fantasy
Imagine being sent in to a special clinic, not really knowing what was wrong but knowing your partner was concerned for you.
the doctor asked a few questions before having you sit in a gynecologist chair. It seemed normal but you noticed your pelvis was tilted more then usual, it left all three of your holes exposed.
"I just need you to remove your undergarments before we continue with this." the doctor who was showing you to the exam room said. you did as instructed and soon you were laying with the unnecessarily high fan blowing at your vulva and clitoris.
"we'll start with endoscopies of the bladder and uterus, to check for abnormalities."
you bit back a cry as upu felt a cold tube go through your urethra, youcleched around it and felt the doctor push down with the ultrasound. you regretted how full your bladder was as you felt a squirt come out.
"you may need to be cathetered for this visit if your muscles are that weak." the doctor said, unhelpfully.
the machine inserted into your vaginal canal and with the weirdest pain you'd felt pushed in. the ultrasound pressed more directly on your rock hard bladder and more leaked out.
"I was going to let you be for one accident but two shows a problem with your bladder. possibly inflamation or weak muscles" he added.
a long intimidatingly thick tube was pulled from a nearby cabinet and lubed up. you felt an awful burn and then a pinch as the bladder sphincter was pushed past. the catheter wasn't clamped though. rather it was connected to an IV.
"to test your capacity" he said apologetically and before you know you saw the doctor squeeze the bag and felt fluid rushing into your bladder. you hadn't known you could feel this full and just as you thought the discomfort couldnt get worse the doctor called one of his nurses over to continue the ultrasound.
"you'll need to keep this in for at least a day. your bladder is too used to just releasing which can't be healthy for it."
the doctor pushed more liquid into your bladder and you saw stars. there was still almost half of the bag full.
"please...ugh"
more water was pushed in as soon as you uttered the word please. a third of the bottle seemed left. you squirmed around as you heard the doctor count to three and you felt the worst pressure you'd ever felt in your bladder as the doctor squeased the last of the bag in all at once.
"stand"
you stood, struggling to move without your bladder hurting.
"we have more procedures but for now its time for exercises."
Slumber Princess
(first time writing something like this :D, sorry if it SUCKS but it’s an idea I wanted to explore :) )
You had a surgery scheduled for this morning and you were dreading it. Thankfully you have an amazing boyfriend who would be there for you throughout the way. You were going to be getting two tumors removed from your breasts.
You were scheduled for a 9 am surgery, which meant you needed to be up by 6 to leave and check in by 7. You had woken up at 5:30 just to find that your boyfriend was already up and double checking you’d have everything packed. He was so perfect.
You got into your most comfortable sweat set and your boyfriend drove you to the hospital which wasn’t far. You started to get fidgety and he noticed your shallow breathing.
“You’re going to be okay sweetheart. I’m so proud of you, you’re so brave” he said as he went to kiss your hand.
Once you checked in, you were able to go to your room and change. Your boyfriend helped you get into a light blue gown and put your hair into a surgical cap.
A nurse came in and took some vitals. Your oxygen was low so you were put on a cannula. The doctor came in to answer some last minute questions and details of the surgery.
Time passed and it was time. They wheel your bed to the operating room and place you on the cold table . Your boyfriend was allowed to come in to the operating room for support. Your arms are laid out to your side and they are gently restrained which makes you nervous.
They added what felt like endless monitors and inserted and IV. They continued to setup around you and then the anesthesiologist began the induction.
He placed a clear puffy anesthesia mask on you and held it in place while he strapped it onto you.
“Just breathe in and out for me, relax, think about a nice place. You won’t feel sleepy just yet so don’t worry” he said as he finished strapping the mask on. Your boyfriend caressed your cheek.
“I love you sweetheart” your boyfriend said
“I love you more” you said nearly audible under all of the loud machines.
A couple minutes pass and it was time to be put to sleep.
“Ok we will be doing an inhaled induction today. Take big deep breaths for me dear” the anesthesiologist instructed.
You squeezed your boyfriends hand and tried taking deep breaths but you were too afraid. Eventually you were able to and soon enough you were out.
Your boyfriend kissed your forehead and they placed a breathing tube for you and taped your eyes.
The surgery went well but there were two complications, one with blood loss and one with your breathing. Instead of waking you up, they decided to keep you on a ventilator until you were strong enough to breathe on your own. Your boyfriend came into your room and watched you closely as they also began a blood transfusion. You woke up in a very bright room with your boyfriend right beside you. You felt exhausted and numb, so much so that you didn’t even notice your boyfriend from all the medication.
“Hey beautiful there you are honey” your boyfriend said as he rubbed your shoulder. You wanted to talk but you couldn’t. Panic set in the minute you realized you couldn’t talk. Your eyes widened and tears started coming instantly. Monitors getting louder due to your distress.
“Sweetheart you’re okay, you have a tube in your throat helping you breathe, it’s keeping you safe” he said calmly almost trying to convince you he wasn’t upset too. You were so tired, if felt like you hadn’t been out for the last four hours. He noticed you trying to fight off your tiredness.
“It’s okay to sleep princess, you’ve had a long day” he said softly while he held your hand. Soon enough, you drifted to sleep again.

Patient Partner
You had undergone surgery and were now in your recovery room. You were laying upright on the hospital bed wearing a soft green gown, a bouffant cap, covered in monitors, and were hooked to a ventilator and cannula. The monitors beeped softly as you continued to sleep. They said you would be out for a bit more and hoped you would wake up within the next hour.
Your surgery went alright but unfortunately not the best. You had some complications with blood loss and oxygen levels which is why you were on extra support.
When you woke up you were hazy and very much high on medication. The nurses spoke softly to you. Your vitals weren’t improving much so they wanted you to sleep longer which ended up happening as you were so tired.
Once you woke up some of the medicine had worn off which made you be in more pain and caused confusion in your train of thought. You went up try to talk but you couldn’t. You went to try to pull it but the nurse rushed to move your hand.
“Don’t pull it honey, it’s going to do some breathing for you okay?” she said as she gave you a warm blanket.
“Hey sweetheart, let me go get your fiancé alright” the nurse said.
Not too long after your fiancé walked in with flowers. He looked worried sick.
“Hey beautiful, how are you feeling?” he said as he held your hand.
You were given a notepad and pen to use to communicate.
who are you?
His heart broke, you were still hazy from the anesthetic but he wasn’t expecting it.
“Sweetheart I’m your fiancé”
how long have we known each other?
“Its been 6 years honey. We are getting married next year in July”
The surgeon came in and said they needed to keep you in longer as your vitals weren’t looking good.
You felt terrible for having no recollection and then you were hit with bad news. You let go of his hand and went to cover your eyes as tears started to well up.
“Hey, hey, sweetheart please it’s going to be alright. I need you to relax love” he said as he lightly pulled your hands from your face. You had tears streaming down your face and some monitors started to get louder signaling your distress. You were shaking and your eyebrows were furrowed signaling pain.
He called a nurse over. You were given a light sedative to help you calm down.
“You’re going to take a nap okay? It’s not safe for you to be so anxious right now” the nurse said and then looked at your vitals. Oxygen was still low.
“I’m going to give you this tube that will help you breathe better okay dear” she said as she put a cannula on you.
She left the room and you had passed out. Your fiancé had rubbed your shoulders and talked to your doctors about how to care for you when you got home.
—————————-
Three days later you were extubated from the ventilator.
“It’s a big day honey, we’re going to take you off the ventilator. It’s going to be a little uncomfortable but you’ll be alright. Ready?” the nurse said.
It was a hard watch for your fiancé but he was so relieved you were showing progress. They put you on an oxygen mask which felt so much better. You were finally able to talk but your voice was raspy from the ventilator and your throat burned.
“There you go gorgeous, you did so good” your fiancé said as he squeezed your hand.
“I love you” you barely got out as you haven’t been able to speak since you went into surgery.

eeek let me know if you have any suggestions!
sleepyhead
hope you enjoy :D i’d like to do more of these but I don’t really have more ideas :( this one is similar to my last one but a little more drama I think LOL
chat and colored text are the details, reader is patient and written from anesthesiologist perspective! not totally accurate ofc <3
we are starting at the operating room again ;)
————————————————————————————
you were wheeled into the brightly lit and cold operating room. you were having open heart surgery so you were nervous to say the least. you were wearing a light green hospital gown and you were placed onto the cold metal operating table. you had a nasal cannula on you and a nurse put your hair into a surgical cap.
Hi sweetheart, I’m Dr. Solei and I will be your anesthesiologist today. We’re just going to finish setting up for you here alright. Do you have any questions or concerns for me?
you shook your head no
Okay, then I will tell you what’s going to happen from me today. I’m going to give you some oxygen and then once that looks good i’m going to send you on a nap and then I will make sure you are asleep during your surgery.
while explaining, the nurses secure your arms down to the side with some restraints and add an iv. there are also more monitors added around you.
I’m going to start you on some oxygen, I just want you to breathe normally.
she went to place a small blue rubber mask over your mouth and nose but you ended up moving your head to the side. she tried to gently move your head back into place to try again but you moved from the mask again. your heart rate raising from anxiety. you
It’s going to be alright sweetheart, we’re going to try this again in a minute okay? I’ll give you a little bit of medicine to relax. Don’t fight me on it next time love. It’s just oxygen, nothing to be scared of.
you had started crying and your vitals had gotten worse. it wasn’t safe for you to be put to sleep like this. she gently wiped your tears.
You’re going to be okay honey, there is a great team here to support you. You’re partner is going to be waiting for you when you wake up, you need to be strong for them too. Just focus on your breathing for now.
She injected a little medicine into your iv and you didn’t know what it was but your anxiety went down and your heartbeat did to. she also put a purple foam block under your head for support.
There you go, do you feel better?
you nodded
Okay wonderful. Just breathe for me alright, it’s just oxygen.
she placed the mask on you and this time you didn’t fight it. this time she secured the mask onto you with some straps.
Good job, keep breathing honey you’re doing great.
you did some breathing for about five minutes which felt like forever. she stroked your forehead and rubbed your shoulder while you did some breathing.
Alright love, I want you to think of a nice place to go to and just relax for me. You are going to take a little nap for me and we will see you when you wake up but for now take a little vacation.
she injected the medication into your iv and you fell asleep quickly. your eyes rolled back and the room went black.
Great job love, see not so bad.
she pumped some oxygen for you and then intubated you. your eyes were taped down and so was the tube in your throat.
your surgery went on to last six hours and had some minor complications with your breathing and blood loss.
you woke up on a ventilator with a cannula in an icu room.
Hi darling, happy to see you’re awake. You’re going to be on this tube for a couple more hours. A nurse will be checking your vitals for you okay.
your partner was able to come in to see you. they had gotten you some flowers and a stuffed animal. you hated not being able to talk to them.
you stayed in the hospital for about a week to be monitored.

side note: I am open to rp similar to this! just nothing sexual. If you’re interested message me, I might suck bc i’ve never tried but feel free to dm me your idea :) i’ll respond if im interested but no hard feelings if I don’t!
