Empty Body

I feel like I have too much self pity.

Everyone is lonely, or has experienced loneliness.

Why do I feel like mine is worse than anyone else's?

As if I have a special, more debilitating kind that no one else understands.

It’s been so long since sweet songs have been sung in my ear.

And the gentle exhale of the word “love” has left my lips.

I don’t taste the kiss of my brown-haired ghost

I only taste stale smoke and sweat.

She is there calling out to me

But I can’t hear her.

I just want to be touched and held,

to feel a warm palm pressed against my chest

testing the inflation of my lungs

Crawl into bed with me

Make me feel whole again

My loneliness is slowly scraping out my insides

For when this is all over

and I carry my guts in my arms

leaking all over me

I hope there is someone who is willing to touch them and help me

So I can be human again.
