today's caribbean medical school weather report 🌦️

is the same* as every other caribbean medical school weather report: sunny most of the day with a high in the mid-80s, some clouds throughout the day, and a chance of rain randomly when you least expect it and no clouds are visible in the sky

it sounds great but honestly most of the people saying "oooh i wish I could spend months in the caribbean it sounds perfect!" would not last a week this time of year without their pumpkin spice latte or first sighting of the colors of the leaves turning or first snowfall which a lot of the students from the usa also really miss. other things that are not a thing in the caribbean are malls and driving on the right side of the road and reliable electricity and water.

also omg don't get injured. just don't.

*this does not apply to hurricane season, which is mostly nothing special but sometimes Extra Spicy Weather with lots of wind and rain and devastation

Anxiety spiraling after criticism from attendings/senior residents

As a neurotic over-achiever who has literally been in school my entire adult life, fumbling around as a new intern doing 90% of things wrong is not my favorite 🥲

we all have to start somewhere and i bet two months in you're doing great!

as long as you can find coffee and the bathroom (STRONGLY CORRELATED) you'll do great

the secret is that nobody knows what they're doing, the longer they do it the better they get at

a.) convincing themselves that they're right and fooling everyone else, or

b.) not caring about being right and just doing the best they can as a human for their patients

One underrated thing about going to med school in the caribbean is that they have different brands and products than the USA, often things you can't get back home.

One example about which I will not shut up, is Ting. It's amazing. It's grapefruit (and pink grapefruit) soda but it's completely underrated. If I could buy it back home in the states I would 100%.

Today in Caribbean medical school I was the only one willing to remove a lizard from a classroom. People wanted to kill it with a textbook but it's 2022 so nobody has hardcopy textbooks anymore.

Someone threw a water bottle at it.

I picked it up and put it outside so it could roam free.
