Psst.
On the whole "are masks constitutional" debate:
I'm pretty sure both sides are wrong. It is fully possible I'm remembering things wrong but I'm pretty sure it boils down to this:
Being forced to wear a mask does not violate the letter of the law.
It possibly violates the spirit of the law, but that argument does hinge on whether you judge the freedom of the people or the life of the people as being more important.
Seeing as how, traditionally, when it comes to constitutional law both the letter and the spirit of the law are equally important, both sides are wrong.
It is neither fully protected nor condemned by the constitution.
(The following rant is not intended for people with LEGITIMATE health concerns that make wearing a mask a serious health issue.)
But honestly, if you are so against wearing a mask that you feel the need to claim it violates the law set forth by the constitution, then you are part of the problem. You are part of the reason we are still dealing with the damn virus.
My right to throw a punch ends where your nose begins.
Your right to go without a mask ends when it endangers another person.
How the fuck can we claim America is the greatest nation when you fucktards don't give a flying fuck about your fellow citizens?
You are not protecting your rights and freedoms by protesting the masks.
You are being a spoiled, selfish child with no regard for the life of anyone else. Right now, we live in a world where a single cough or sneeze can literally end someone's life and we have no way of knowing exactly who is safe and who is infected.
Is being able to see your pretty face really worth more than the life of another human being?
If not wearing a mask is really more important to you than not killing someone else, then you need to take a long hard look at yourself because basic human compassion should not be this damn hard for anyone to understand.
Can someone please tell me why people are up in arms over having to wear a mask?
Do they just not understand basic science?
Or do they seriously believe that doing what they want is more important than the literal life of another human being?
On the anti-lockdown protests-
I have the right to throw a punch. Would you let me even if that punch would connect with your nose?
I'm guessing not.
My right to throw a punch ends where your nose begins.
Your right to go about your normal life ends when it endangers others.
If you can lead your normal life with 100% certainty that there will not even be a chance of passing the virus to anyone else, then go for it, but know you will be responsible if you're wrong and get someone else infected.
These lockdowns are not about limiting your freedom.
They are about saving as many people as possible so we still have a population to enjoy those freedoms when this is all over.
"I wish weed was never invented."
There is one major problem with this phrase.
The definition of the word "invention" gives the word the connotation of being man-made.
Weed was not man made.
Weed is not, and never has been, an invention. It is a plant. If anyone invented it, it was mother earth.
If you intend to make an agrument against weed, please do not use words that you cannot both define and give the proper connotation to. It kills your argument before you ever get a chance to defend it.
I shouldn’t think of things ever because then I make bad jokes. Like this thing I said today in geometry class. How do you kill evil triangles? With a hypote-noose.
Fish has a new blog now. I wonder how long it will take her to see this mess reposted.
"Weed was made illegal for a reason. We should keep it that way."
Well... The first part of this argument isn't wrong, but it relies on people not bothering to find out what that reason was.
Time for a history lesson. (I aplogize in advance- I am really good with the big ideas and how things tie together, but I am absolute shit at remembering relevent dates and names. Hence why I nearly failed regular history, but aced A.P. history.)
Marijuana was made illegal when the Prohibition ended. Why? The office responsible for the Prohibition was looking for a new job to do before it got shut down. There was also the issue of anti-war protests and immigration. They couldn't make it illegal to be against the war or to be an immigrant, so they found a different way to deal with all these issues.
They started a propaganda campaign to get the people associate weed with hippies and Mexican immigrants. They then started throwing out false claims about marijuana causing madness and violent tendencies. This all culminated in the demonization and outlawing of marijuana. They couldn't make it illegal to be a hippie or an immigrant, but they could use marijuana to turn the majority of people against them, and it worked. It also provided a convenient excuse to arrest these people.
Eventually, at least one aid of the administration that outlawed marijuana came forward and admitted that the admistration knew they were lying about the effects of marijuana.
So basically, it was outlawed on the basis of racism and limiting freedom of speech. Do we really want to keep a law like that in place?
For a society that puts so much focus on being politically correct, it's ridiculous that marijuana is still illegal. The sad thing is that the statistics strongly indicate that this out-dated law is still promoting racism. Even though all races smoke marijuana at around the same rates, people of color are still nearly 4x as likely to get arrested for it.
