Even  if  he  was  relieved  that  Cú  no  longer  played  along  with  that  strange  prank  it  didn't  mean  that  he  was  ready  to  be  inappropriate  in  his  work  space.  Sharing  a  kiss  or  two  hardly  counted  as  that  but  he  knew  Cú  well  enough  by  that  point  to  know  that  giving  him  a  fraction  would  result  in  him  taking  a  mile  and  so  he  hummed  into  those  small  kisses.  ❛  No,  no.  ❜  He  protested  between  them  and  once  one  of  them  lingered  for  too  long  he  playfully  wiggled  out  of  his  grasp  and  shoved  the  small  plate  of  salmon  into  his  hands  instead,  along  with  the  chopsticks  he  held.

❛  You  either  whisk  me  away  or  wait  to  the  end  of  my  shift.  I  can't  get  distracted  while  at  work.  ❜  He  mused  and  returned  back  to  his  station  as  he  spoke.

it   was   something   of   a   shame   that   he   couldn't   coax   him   into   getting   a   little   more   carried   away,   but   he   hadn't   expected   to   get   all   that   far   with   it   in   the   first   place.   it   had   him   huff   ever   so   faintly,   expectedly   displeased   that   archer   had   such   an   easy   time   refusing   his   attention   when   cú   himself   often   seemed   a   victim   of   his   own   wanting   heart.   ❛    i   liked   it   better   when   you   were   struggling   to   hold   back,   ❜   he   half   grumbled,   the   plate   and   utensils   accepted   along   the   way,   if   begrudgingly,   before   he   turned   instead   to   sit   himself   down   by   the   nearest   table   to   at   least   eat   what   remained   of   that   experimental   food   of   his,   wistfully   watching   him   from   a   distance   as   he   did.

Cú  had  always  been  a  mischievous  man,  someone  whose  teasing  could  and  did  often  get  past  what  Shirou  was  expecting  but  he  still  couldn't  deny  that  seeing  him  drop  that  strange  act  of  theirs  was  relieving.  That  his  arm  tightened  around  him  and  that  he  pulled  his  chin  closer  meant,  at  least  to  him,  that  things  were  going  back  to  normal  and  because  of  that,  he  smiled  a  brighter  smile  at  him  and  gratefully  stole  a  brief  kiss  from  his  lips.

❛  And  just  abandon  my  station?  That  doesn't  seem  fair.  ❜  He  mused  against  his  lips  and  nuzzled  his  nose  against  his  cheeks.  ❛  Unless  you  plan  on  whisking  me  away,  I'm  afraid  my  hands  are  tied.  ❜

he   could   tell   that   shirou   seemed   more   at   ease   like   that,   without   any   attention   drawn   to   the   clearly   odd   circumstances   at   play.   looking   into   what   was   causing   this   strange   change   could   wait   a   little   longer,   especially   when   there   seemed   to   be   affection   to   be   had.   besides,   unnerving   him   by   continuing   to   point   out   that   something   was   off   would   benefit   neither   of   them,   and   that   bright   smile   of   his   certainly   caught   his   attention   instead.

❛    who   said   anything   about   going   anywhere   ?   ❜   he   mused   in   turn,   leaning   ever   closer   and   stealing   another   few   kisses,   noticeably   not   affording   the   archer   any   chance   to   protest,   and   slowly   shifting   his   hand   to   cup   his   jaw   instead   as   those   kisses   lingered   more   and   more.

He  refused  to  go  along  with  the  whole  farce  of  people  not  knowing  him  or  thinking  him  strange.  If  people  were  going  to  play  strange  pranks  on  him  then  he  wasn't  going  to  give  them  the  satisfaction  of  looking  annoyed  or  even  showing  frustration.  Especially  if  that  person  was  Cú;  part  of  the  charm  was  not  letting  him  frustrate  him  too  much  after  all  and  Shirou  was  all  too  fond  of  his  smiling  face  to  risk  making  him  pout  by  being  too  frustrated.

Instead,  when  he  wrapped  his  arm  around  his  side,  he  leaned  into  him  and  took  another  piece  of  the  salmon  he  prepared,  dipping  it  into  the  sauce  a  little  more  before  offering  him  the  bite  again.  Except  this  time  he  quickly  moved  the  chopsticks  away  before  he  could  snatch  it  and  ate  the  bite  himself.  ❛  Stop  acting  so  weird  if  you  want  more  of  it.  Come  on,  that  serious  face  doesn't  even  suit  you.  ❜

it   was   worth   worrying   over   it,   he   thought,   but   it   seemed   that   archer   remained   oblivious   to   the   fact   that   something   was   off   at   all.   it   didn't   seem   to   cause   any   harm,   at   least   ;   his   cooking   tasted   the   same,   he   offered   him   affection   still   and   seemed   to   recall   everything   about   chaldea,   as   far   as   he   could   tell.   that   it   might   be   a   spell   at   work   was   likely   enough,   but   if   it   were   to   be   one   that   was   going   to   simply   fade   again,   as   most   would,   there   was   not   really   any   reason   for   him   to   make   a   big   fuss   right   away.

besides,   if   he   was   feeling   less   grumpy   in   the   wake   of   it   then   he   might   as   well   try   to   capitalise   on   that.   he   already   leaned   in   for   that   second   bite   just   to   be   denied   another   taste,   and   promptly   pursed   his   lips   in   protest.   his   arm   tightened   around   archer's   middle,   free   hand   lifted   to   grasp   his   chin   and   tilt   his   head   towards   himself   properly.   ❛    pay   more   attention   to   me,   then.   ❜

whatever   was   going   on   was   certainly   weird.   his   lover   suddenly   sporting   different   hair   and   a   different   shade   altogether   was   one   thing,   but   that   he   neither   seemed   aware   of   it   nor   acted   quite   as   aloof   as   usual   certainly   sparked   some   measure   of   concern.   he   was   glad,   at   least,   that   it   seemed   that   he   recalled   who   his   lover   was,   and   when   he   smiled   and   offered   him   a   taste   of   that   typically   delicious   cooking   of   his,   he   was   a   little   more   reassured   that   he   knew   their   dynamic,   too. 

he   shifted   closer,   though   his   expression   didn't   change   much,   remaining   somewhat   neutral   and   thoroughly   curious,   moved   to   his   side   and   draped   an   arm   around   him   when   he   leaned   in   to   snatch   the   piece   of   fish   right   from   his   chopsticks.   a   moment   of   idle   chewing   followed,   before   his   head   turned,   a   soft   hum   sounded   and   he   pressed   a   kiss   to   the   corner   of   his   lips   before   even   swallowing   that   bite.   ❛    mh   …   that's   some   good   stuff.   ❜
