So Thanksgiving is going to be different this year for me and my family. No big family gathering. No pastachina. No pie. There will be pajamas during the parade. Meatballs aplenty. Cinnamon rolls like always, though this year they will be homemade. And homemade bread because of course Iām baking. My pre-ferment is ready to go for the boule and tomorrow there will be some Honey Whole Wheat Bread made too because even though Aunt Annie canāt be with her tiny people, her tiny people can have bread. Am I sad? Sure. I love and miss my family. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because itās a day about food, football and family. Yes, I know it has a terrible origin story but itās a great opportunity to remove the āpilgrims were amazingā myth too. This holiday isnāt about showering each other with gifts. Itās about loving each other and spending time together with our favorite food. This year my family is loving each other from afar, there is likely to be a family Zoom at some point. We are all happy to do this so we can keep the at risk members of our family safe. We know the heartbreaking consequences that a large family gathering could have. āHi, Grandma.ā š We keep crystals in the windows of our house and when the light catches them the room fills with rainbows. We do this because my grandma used to put crystals in my windows to make the rainbows appear. š When we walked into the house after running errands we were greeted to a first floor filled with rainbows.
