being in an avengers tower that really wasn’t hers to spend the forseeable future around a bunch of people in hiding definitely hadn’t been on riri’s to-do list. but, one thing led to another and now she was in a big ass building hiding out with what is supposed to be earth’s best defenders. we’re supposed to defend the earth against the world’s threats, had i known we’d be protecting ourselves against the earth’s stupidity i might’ve re-thought about signing that damn avengers initiative contract with pepper, riri grumbled mentally, slipping out of her room without so much as a whisper of noise. she was starving and unable to sleep, which was one of the deadliest combinations known to man. she grabbed her nanite bracelet and shifted it into a laptop, settling onto the counter by the fridge with it after she rummaged through the pantries as quietly as possible, walking away with several bags of chips and granola bars to munch on. she placed the laptop into her lap and began to work on algorithms and equations to try and work through the once-ludicrous theory of multi dimensional existence and travel. she was so into her work that she didn’t see anybody approaching until the light was flicked on and she felt like running, only opting to give them a deer in headlights gaze from her now stupid looking perch on the counter. “uh... hi?” so much for smooth, riri.
it’s no surprise that t’challa opened his doors when the mutant registration act was put in place and mutants all around had to go into what felt like hiding. it disgusted him, really. the oppression mutants received on a daily schedule infuriated him. these people sought out equality for people of color and women but could not accept another who was different? he’d never be able to understand it, and he’s not sure he wants to. so when he’s past the doors of his headquarters based in new york, he lets out a heavy sigh. at least he, and others, could feel safe here for the time being. “it feels like it gets worse and worse every day.” t’challa remarks, gaze flickering to the tv for a moment. he’s offering the other person in the room a light smile. he hadn’t seen them in here before, perhaps they were new. “can i get you something to drink? eat?”
if riri were to look back on this moment in life, she’d honestly beat herself up. she was in the headquarters of the wakandan embassy, and was currently shoving mouthfuls of chips into her mouth like there was no tomorrow. given that she was still a little banged up after her stint with a few, no a lot more than a few, sentinels you’d think she’d take it easy. she was planted in front of the tv to absorb whatever passing information that could easily help her acclimate to the world that was clearly not her own. brown eyes lifted from the screen to the voice that came from her left, her mouth a bit preoccupied to fully respond. crap, he was talking to her, wasn’t he? “uhm,” she mumbled around her mouthful, actually beginning to blush under the caramel tan skin of her face, god she probably looked like some pig to the actual king of a powerhouse of a country. “i.. i already helped myself a little bit to the pantries, i’m just... yeah. thanks though. i just need to figure out what the hell is going on here.” riri continued after her mouth was finally clear, her eyes turning back to the tv. “can you... fill me in on what the heck is going on here? like, what’s with the dudes — sorry, sentinels — outside? what the hell did we do to get them to attack us on sight, and to not stop until we’re fully dead, for that matter?” she needed answers if she had absolutely any chance of fixing this issue, or even finding a way home.
oh god, oh god i’m screwed. i’m fucked! i’m shit outta luck! riri grunted, whirling through the air at a speed that almost made her dizzy. ‘hey, if you weren’t about to die at the hands of the killer wind up robots — ri, on your left! — i would’ve honestly guessed you were trying to imitate that white little rabbit from ‘alice in wonderland’ you know?’ TONY theorized in her ear, and if it weren’t for the current situation she was in, she would’ve egged him on and came up with more rhymes. but, now wasn’t exactly the time to start laying down sick words, it was time to hide from these sentinels again and find a fucking hideout. a blast from a replica repulsor hit her in the leg and she shouted, the heat actually felt through the armor. that definitely wasn’t good, oh god that meant that they were adapting to try and erase her out of existence. “sh-shit! what the fuck are these things made of? who the hell even allowed these things to be made?” riri cried out to nobody in particular, whirring low through nearby buildings to try and dodge the now flying beasts on her tail. she could hear their hands gearing up for another blast and she shouted for extra boost, but it was too late. it hit her square in the back, sending her careening to the right, crashing noisily into an alleyway with a dead end. “r-retract!” she gasped, practically crawling into a dumpster, covering herself in the absolutely foul stench of the bags as her vision begins to fade. by the time the sentinels whirred past she was successfully not in the suit and under the cover of god knows how many bags, the impact of the blast knocking all of her breath out of her. help, her mind broadcasted ever so weakly, eyes rolling into the back of her head as she blacked out.
ever since the rest of the titans had left for the past, and the new laws were put into place victor took it upon himself to guard the one place they all considered home; the tower. when he wasn’t trying to rekindle with his dad, he spent his days locked deep within the tower. it was the only place he could be without being considered some sort of threat. he can’t remember the last time he’d gone out and done something fun. so, just like any other day, victors sat at the security system he managed to keep with his own system. he has music on in the background, humming to it softly as he takes another drink of soda. it’s when the alarm starts blaring and his projector on his arm flashes to show someone entering into one of the entrances of the tower. within seconds he’s abandoned the soda can and turned the music off. it doesn’t take him long to get to the intruder, facing their back as they walk further into the building. it didn’t have power in certain parts which explained why the two were surrounded in darkness, his red eye being the only thing illuminating the space besides the outside. “didn’t anyone ever tell you snoopin’ in a strangers home is rude?” the male remarks, eyebrow furrowed. “i’m gonna need some identification or you to get the hell out.”
okay, it seems that today was most definitely not riri’s day. simply investigating a minor dimensional tear — she’s not saying major, because if she does, she’ll fucking freak out — turned into her being chewed up and spat out in the middle of a new york that seemed hell bent on eradicating anything and everything not human and normal, herself included. she’d narrowly escaped the death robots, she learned were sentinels, and strolled through the streets hoping to put up a front that wouldn’t cause any suspicion. there had to be heroes in this dimension, if those sentinels were constantly prowling, that meant that they hadn’t all died out yet and riri needed a team of sorts to even consider taking down those tin cans and restoring good to the world. and a quick google search had her heading straight for something called titan tower. it was risky, who the hell says this wasn’t a trap, and used her suit to short circuit the power to gain entrance, only to be greeted with alarms. ‘damn kid, i thought you were smarter than that. any building filled with supposed heroes is going to be booby trapped and strapped with alarms up the ass, duh.’ TONY quipped in her ear, talking smugly over the groan that filled the helmet on her part. she stayed in the suit just in case anything came charging at her, and continued her trek into the building to, hopefully, disable the alarms. it would be a damn lie if that deep voice that filtered through the suit from behind didn’t scare her, if her jerky spin was anything to go by. the suit gave her vision to see a human-android hybrid staring right at her, even in the dark, much to her demise. she retracted the face plate the moment he asked for information, and in hindsight she realized that probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do. “shit. um, i’m riri... also known as ironheart, though it seems this dimension doesn’t have another me, which i’m terrified to honestly find out what happened to my good sis, god i’m rambling. don’t shoot, i’m not here to break in and steal your shit — even if i did the breaking in part already — i’m friendly and it’s gonna sound fuckin’ crazy, but i’m not from this dimension. and... and i need some help figuring out what the hell’s going on here. from one hero to another. if you’re even a hero. the whole lurking in the dark thing is kind of... not working on the hero side of your image.” her jaw audibly snapped tight to shut herself up, her brown eyes wide and entirely focused on him. if he didn’t kill her it seemed like her mouth would always try and get the job done.
living in hiding wasn’t nearly as easy as riri had originally thought. it was fucking depressing was what it was. she had to live in a shitty, albeit free, abandoned warehouse, siphoning electricity from the corner shop next door, and sleeping on the floor in her suit wasn’t exactly a king bed at the four seasons. she needed to start finding people who could help her establish a name, with convincing papers, to start making some cash to get her own place. at least, until she found a way back to her regular life of living. this place wasn’t home and every time she opened her eyes, she was reminded exactly why. riri had missed her home with the avengers, both old and new members, she missed her mother, she missed her city, where she could suit up and blast off, where people didn’t try and shoot her down the moment she took to the skies. she was in the corner store for a little five finger discount when a familiar face caught her off guard, making her do a harsh double take. was that? it can’t be, she hadn’t seen a lick of anything in this reality about her — yet here she was, blending in perfectly with her surroundings. she stopped at the end of the aisle she was in, brown eyes staring directly at her face to try and gauge a reaction of any sort from the other. “nat!” she hissed, half hidden behind a stand holding racks of different type of plantain chips, one she discreetly stuffed into her long sleeve shirt.
y’all know what time it is! if not it’s like... 1:25pm est, which is also starter call time! please like this if you’d like the gen z smart ass known as riri williams [ aka IRONHEART ] interacting with your character! if you have more than one please specify which character you’d like to interact with her via reply or messages. i will also be replying to a few starters i saw in the start tag as well in a lil while. smell ya later!
let it be known that riri was a quick thinker, because having a speedily processing brain just proves that you don’t gotta be smart, you just gotta be fast. had she not been fast enough to realize that these giant humanoid robots were only after her and nobody else, everyone that was seemingly normal kept to their routine, simply side stepping any falling rubble or avoiding the suddenly charred sidewalk as if it was a regular occurrence, she might as well have dug out her own damn grave right then and there. these things were after her, and she suspected it was because she came crashing through a damn dimensional rip — or whatever it was —completely decked out in armor. riri fought them off as valiantly as she could, but, shit it was like they were fuckin’ roaches, one fell for ten to pop up and hound her ass. it didn’t take long for her to realize that the best strategy was to retreat and not to engage, so after a particularly hard blast that had her bones rattling within her body she commanded TONY to engage the stealth nanites and flashed into a nearby alleyway. she wasn’t even sure if it had worked or not, she was too busy retracting the armor as fast as it could possibly go, when a similarly crouching figure caught her attention within her peripheral. fuck, she wasn’t alone. “hey,” she began, shooting the person a simple nod whilst the armor melted away into a simple cuff on her hand, revealing a skintight flight suit consisting of a tank top and leggings, and a pair of majorly beat up converse. “i doubt that this’ll even work, but don’t scream. those things are a bitch to get away fro — “ the thundering steps of the sentinel caught her attention and she froze, fear written all over her bruised face as it scanned the alleyway with a blue beam before continuing to lumber on. “s-shit. are those... are they normal around here?” riri breathed, shooting the stranger an exasperated expression that was filled with a pinch of fear. just a pinch though... she wasn’t scared. she was terrified, honestly.
✕ — WASN’T THAT RIRI WILLIAMS WANDERING THE STREETS OF NEW YORK? CIVILIANS KNOW THEM AS IRON HEART AND SEE THEM AS A HERO. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THE NINETEEN YEAR OLD STANDS WITH THE AVENGERS AND ARE RUMOURED TO BE PRETTY STUBBORN & A QUICK-THINKER.
“uh... shit, i have no idea how to start this or... how to even, word it? i guess?” riri lifted the helmet onto the nearest dumpster, sliding her hand underneath the cool metal to activate the recording feature. smudged in dirt, a shadow of a growing bruise under her right eye, blood beading across the cut on her lower lip coming into the view of the camera — all in all, she looked like pure shit. “i guess what i want to say first is... if they find me, i love you, mom. more than anything. i know i said i’d be by your side till the end, and, and i’m sorry i’m kinda breakin’ this promise, but the world... it needs me. i can’t be by your side till the end if the end is near and i have the ability to find a way to stop it. for whoever finds this, please know, my name’s riri williams, i’m from earth — or what i thought was earth — and it’s clear to me that i’m no longer within my own dimension or universe or reality, whatever the hell you wanna call it. shit i’m ramblin’, lemme start over. i’m riri williams, an mit drop out, and i am the superhero ironheart. yeah yeah, like ironman, but in my opinion totally better? if this dimension even has one. i don’t know where i am, but it appears that i will need to fight. for as long as i can, to protect those who need it. if i don’t die and this message is useless, i’ll keep it in the archives, but if not... then it’s up to you to continue fighting for me. for all of us heros that can’t go any further. you’re countin’ on us, but we’re also countin’ on you. keep your chin up — and i know you’ll make us all proud. i — “ she was blasted in the chest with an electric pulse that radiated off screen, crashing into the brick wall. brown eyes blown wide she raced for her helmet, the camera catching a close up of her face. “shit, no time for sentimental crap, i gotta go. peace!” and with that, the feed was cut short, filling the screen with nothing but BLANK SPACE.
— zoo wee mama that was a bit of an... extensive and wordy intro into my character, apologies! my name’s e, i’m 20, living on the east coast of the us of a, and i pen the marvel original character, riri williams!
she’s the unofficial prodigy of tony stark before his demise, and was able to break into various places on campus during her brief stint at mit to create her own iron man suit.
she uses that suit to fight crime for a while, but unfortunately the suit is damaged whilst she’s in mexico during a mission, and catches the attention of THE tony stark who, graciously, decides to endorse her on her journey to become a superhero.
FINALLY given the resources she needs, she’s able to create her own suit, titled ‘rescue’ [the black, fuchsia and gold version suit] and uses it interchangeably with her original replica of the tony stark suit she’d made.
she carries an ai version of TONY within her laptop and her suit, sort of like her own personal JARVIS, yet it’s almost as if he’s really there, snarky quips and obscure ramblings and all!
she’s somehow dragged onto an earth that isn’t hers through the various time jumps carried out by other heroes, into a world where even the slightest blink of a hero is caught onto by these fuckin’ senteniels who seem hellbent on trying to scuff up her brand new suit.
she’s scared, yet that doesn’t stop her from mouthin’ off and making terrible vine references in the midst of battles.
as for me, i’m a college student majoring in psychology [maybe thinkin’ about adding english to it too, but i don’t know yet!!!] who also works part time. i absolutely love roleplaying and i haven’t really been using tumblr for roleplaying, i normally use discord, but i really like the theme of this roleplay so i decided to give it a shot! i fell in love with riri the moment i saw her and since nobody seems to really know who she is, i figured this is a great opportunity to bring her out to the world — in a sense! as for the blog i actually make my own icons and edits, so stuff that isn’t reblogged or stated in the tags as someone else’s stuff, is all me!!! even the header of this post is mine, as crappy as it is, so icons may take a lil while to churn up sometimes, but i made myself a lil pack for now that should hold me over. if you don’t use icons/gifs for your posts that’s totally fine too, i won’t use them if you won’t, so don’t feel pressured into it.
honestly that’s about it! i’ll be responding to starters in a few and eventually post some of my own. i hope to make a shitton of friends and memories here with you all!!!!!!!
