Eve and Emory had spent some time socializing with Emory’s coworkers at her office party, and though all was going well, there had been slight awkwardness at times in Emory introducing her. After all, they hadn’t quite given each other official titles –– but they weren’t just friends anymore, were they? They’d gone out on a picnic date and nearly ended up in bed together afterward, for Christ’s sake. But they hadn’t gotten around to actually asking each other about titles, and so Emory had simply called her her ‘date’ and left it at that ( though Eve imagined instead how it would be if she referred to her as her ‘girlfriend’, and that sent thrilled chills all up her spine ).
At some point, Emory had pulled Eve off to the side and suggested sneaking away for a moment, to get some fresh air, and Eve was more than happy to accept. Emory’s coworkers were all nice people, but conversation had begun to become somewhat dull. No offense to lawyers, but sometimes they could drone on and on about policies and cases and things that generally didn’t hold Eve’s interest. When everyone else was distracted, they slipped away to the elevators and made their way up to the roof. Eve was surprised to find it was a rather nice setting when they made it up –– indeed there was a pool, as well as boxed plants all around and general lounge spaces for socializing and perhaps small events.
“It’s gorgeous up here,” Eve remarked, a slightly chilly wind blowing against her curled hair as she gazed around. “And the view is fantastic. Do you come up here a lot?” She turned to her date, smiling as she looked over her features. She was so beautiful. Eve was suddenly so very glad she’d abandoned that gala to come with her to this party, even if there was some bland conversation and she didn’t know anybody –– it was so worth it to be near her.
After picking Evelyn up from the event she had attended, there was only one thing that was still missing to make the evening perfect: Emory desperately wanted to make things between them official. She didn’t want to keep living in uncertainty. She wanted Evelyn to know that she was all in, that she wanted to be with her through the good times and the bad times as her girlfriend and her partner in crime. So far, the moment hadn’t presented itself yet. Knowing she would have to talk to her soon, the lawyer waited for the conversation to lead there naturally.
At some point, Emory had realized that it was definitely not going to happen while they were around her coworkers. And so she had suggested getting some fresh air, knowing the venue had a rooftop pool — lawyers and their fancy parties. Emory’s fingers were gently wrapped around Evelyn’s, the gesture intimate yet already so familiar. There wasn’t a doubt in Emory’s mind that they had a special connection; one even Emory hadn’t felt quite like this before. No one except for the gallerist had ever been able to make her heartbeat pick up in speed so rapidly, no one had ever caused such warmth to spread in her chest with just a smile; no one but Evelyn.
Emory closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before looking over at the other brunette. “Not as often as I’d like,” she admitted, slowly closing some of the distance between their bodies, her hands innocently resting on Evelyn’s waist. “I’m so glad you’re here with me,” she said with a warm smile, before pressing a gentle, lingering kiss to her lips. Pulling her own bottom lip between her teeth when the kiss ended, she looked into the gallerist’s eyes with a smile. She had to admit, she was nervous. She knew this was it, the moment she could use to get some clarity. Gently she wrapped her fingers around Evelyn’s hand once more, guiding it upwards above her heart, letting her feel just how quickly it was beating. “I realize this is incredibly cheesy but — I’ve never had this before.”

Christian tried not to think it odd how Rhona disregarded eye contact while she talked about her job. That bothered her but who was she to call the woman out on it? A virtual stranger. So, she sipped her water and thought carefully about the question. If she waited and things worked out - which they seemed like they would - the two of them would likely go home together. That thought didn’t bother her, in fact it warmed her. Deciding that she would wait, Christian ran a hand through her hair and licked her lips. “I’ll be here.” She supplied confidently, knowing she would wait until Rhona got off. “Assuming something doesn’t take me away.” Like a breaking case or a call from work; she could never make promises.
A small smirk tugged at the corners of her lips when the other woman said she would be there. “Good.” At least she wouldn’t have to spend the rest of the evening by herself. While she liked alone time, tonight wasn’t necessarily a night she wanted to spend by herself, simply because she already spent so much time by herself.
It was about fifteen minutes later that Rhona was finally done and had cleaned everything she needed, letting her colleague take the wheel. Having gotten her leather jacket and carrying it over one arm, she walked over to the woman waiting for her at the bar, leaning one arm onto the counter as she stopped right next to her. “So, Chris,...” she started. “What are your plans for the rest of the night?”
chriswinnick.
Unable to look away from the woman’s dark eyes, Chris just about hated how easily it was for the woman to catch and hold her attention. She didn’t feel as if she was in control here and that got to her - she was almost always in control and something about the woman was disconcerting. It wasn’t her fault exactly; Christian could just usually get a good vibe from people. It didn’t make her want to run - quite the opposite. In fact, her curiosity was piqued even though she had several warnings going off in her head right now and about a hundred different cases from work in her minds eye telling her just how this could go south very quickly. But she could take care of herself - usually. The scar along her rib cage was doubtful, she reminded herself.
She’d been playing it careful but her silence wasn’t due to carefulness this time around; she just didn’t know what to say. “Why bar tending?” A tactic to stall for time, to come up with an answer, Christian forced herself to settle back into her chair and relax. “Not that there’s anything wrong with bar tending - I’m just curious.”
Why bartending? It was a simple question, yet the answer to it was everything but simple. Rhona used bartending as a side job, a cover of sorts; at least that was what it was at the moment. She couldn’t say that, however. Because then the next question would be Well, what do you do normally? and that was a question the hitwoman couldn’t answer unless she a) wanted the woman to run away screaming and b) wanted her to call the police on her.
And so, a simple shrug left her. “I like the connection to the people,” she lied smoothly, the truth so easily hidden. Lying was part of her job, it was part of her everyday routine, it came naturally to her. “Who knows, maybe I’ll do something else at some point,” she said with a shrug. A short pause, then she looked straight into the woman’s eyes. “I’m done here in 15 minutes. Think you’ll still be around then?”

The little sounds coming from Sasha had Yara biting her bottom lip. She sounded breathless and sexy all at once. The reaction of her body didn’t go unnoticed, and Yara figured that she clearly was heading down a right path. Not pulling back from her position, she repeated the soft kiss again on her neck before responding. “Yes Sasha?” Yara spoke near her ear letting the warmth of her breath rush against the skin there. Again she pressed kisses to the other’s neck, drifting along the curve, then back up to her ear once more.
She didn’t even know what she had wanted to say. There were no words on the redhead’s mind currently, all she could focus on were those soft lips against her ear. She shivered when Yara’s breath hit its shell and pearly white teeth dug into her bottom lip. There was one thing that was becoming crystal clear: If Yara went on with this path, Sasha would not be able to resist her. Not like this. One of Sasha’s hands came to rest on Yara’s knee behind her and she sighed once those lips traveled back upwards to her ear, her head tilting slightly to the side to give Yara more access.

Sasha became pliable under her touch and Yara was thoroughly enjoying it. The encouragement was all she needed to really focus her attention on having the other woman relax. With her hands settled on the redhead’s shoulders, with circular motions she slowly worked on the tension she felt there. Inwardly Yara’s heartbeat was racing, while she tried to actually focus on giving her a proper massage, the feel on her skin beneath her fingers had her mind wandering. From the edge, she moved her caresses toward Sasha’s neck and then back out again. Giving into one of her urges that wouldn’t let her mind rest, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to the curve of Sasha’s neck.
A soft sigh left her when Yara started working her shoulders and goosebumps rose up on her skin with each touch that came from the woman’s hands. God, this felt good. She must have been more tense than she originally thought, but Yara’s fingers worked wonders on her muscles and she loved it. Even her neck the goosebumps wouldn’t stay away from when Yara’s touch wandered. Completely unexpectedly she felt the woman’s gentle lips against her neck and she gasped softly, feeling a shiver running down her spine. “Yara...” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

“It would be my pleasure to.” Not needing another invitation, Yara moved across the jacuzzi so she was no longer sitting opposite the other, but at her side. Her thigh purposely brushed against Sasha’s as she sat down. Yara ran her palm along Sasha’s arm; from her shoulder down to her hand. Underneath the water, she held onto to her hand and then used the pads of her thumbs to rub small circles into the back of Sasha’s hand. After a moment or two, she guided Sasha’s hand to rest on her thigh so she could move her talented touch upwards. At Sasha’s shoulder, Yara paused because she needed a better angle. “Turn a little,” she gestured in the direction that would allow Sasha’s back to face her.
Sasha’s nervousness was rising with every second, and she had to focus on her breathing to try and keep it under control when Yara was next to her and her thigh brushed against her own, while Yara’s thumbs gently started massaging her hand. She looked into the woman’s eyes, then let her own fall closed, just focusing on those gentle hands on her skin. Just as Yara requested, she turned slightly to the side to give her more access to her back. It was hard not to completely melt under the woman’s touch, but she didn’t want to give Yara that kind of satisfaction yet.

The hand at Olivia’s side comfortably came to rest at her lower back. In the moments that passed between kisses, she used the opportunity of the other woman’s closed eyes to admire her softened features. The pad of her thumb lightly brushed along the side of her face she still framed gently. Leaning in again Mireya brushed their noses together then pressed another round of soft kisses to Olivia’s lips. At the corner of her lip, Mireya trailed light kisses to Olivia’s jawline, then along the curve of her neck. Her progress led to Olivia’s ear, where she lingered to whisper; “Can I stay with you tonight?” Mireya pulled back just enough so she could read her expression and hear her response clearly. “Not in a sexual way or anything...not that I’m opposed to that, but, I mean...I...” her cheeks warmed, as she continued to ramble. Thankfully her skin was already flushed from their kisses so it should go undetected. Honestly, Mireya is trying her best not to put any pressure on Olivia. They had made great strides this evening, and the last thing she wanted was for them to take several steps back, due to her overwhelming need to be physically close to Olivia. “I like being close to you like this.”
No one had ever treated her like this. No one had ever touched Olivia so gently or looked at her with so much care in their eyes. It was slightly overwhelming but Olivia at this point also couldn't help herself any longer. She was tired of fighting it. Everything about this felt so right, it felt just like it was meant to be this way. With Mireya asking whether she could stay the night, Olivia's eyes fluttered open, looking at the other. Just as she was about to respond Mireya kept talking and Olivia felt a light laugh bubbling up in her throat. "Not opposed, huh?" she asked teasingly, then brought her own hand up to brush gently over Mireya's cheek. "Please stay," she whispered. This was not something she ever did. She didn't like anyone staying with her for an entire night after she'd slept with them. But Mireya and her hadn't slept together yet and even if it wasn't going to happen tonight, Olivia was completely content with just being close to her. That in itself was a strange concept to her.
