The vampire sensed the girl’s thought with a slightly arched brow. It appeared this girl had noticed something amiss about him. His demeanour. It should not surprised him, giving what he had just witnessed. What surprised him more was this one was curious. She did not seem wearied or nervous at the scent she felt on him. Aside from the hunters, this was the first mortal who displayed such a trait.
Perhaps he should talk to her.
What was the worst going to happened, she killing him? Wasn’t that what he was hoping for? So what was he worrying about?
I thought I least you should say hi, or thank you. I kind of helped you frightening the man off, after all.
He projected the words into the girl’s head, waiting for her response. Anything could happened. She could turned around and kill him.
Exactly what he wanted, yeah?”
“I thought I least you should say hi, or thank you. I kind of helped you frightening the man off, after all.”
She hears a voice in her head, speaking to her. It makes her pause in her steps again, turning slightly so the man is in the corner of her eye, but otherwise not moving. Her first instinct is to keep moving, to not let him anywhere near her. Creatures of the night will steal your light and life.
At least that’s what her elders told her. Teagan herself is no fool, and engaging with anyone like this will not end well for either of them. Yet here she is, still allowing this supernatural being to speak to her, and listening instead of just warning him not to touch her.
Her eyes cast downwards for a moment, before she projects a thought back.
“Thank you. You didn’t have to do that, however. I am more than capable of protecting myself.”
Her fingertips brush the silver amulet representing the goddess Cerridwen and she closes her eyes as if in silent prayer, before turning back towards the man, crossing her arms across her chest.
“What is it you want of me?”
She asks him aloud.
