‘Spring in Town’ by Grant Wood, 1941 (oil on wood)
James McLoughlin, Irish, has been traditionally trained in classical sculpture, which still informs his artistic style. Sculpting stone, wood and bronze, he does privilege traditional techniques and skills, above the more modern sculptural methods. His artistic process is both a dialogue and a commission to create on behalf of a client, which not only motivates his work, but is his élan vital and artistic impetus.
