“not supporting the ‘gay lifestyle’” is homophobia. “disagreeing with gay people” based on their identities is homophobia. saying “homosexuality is a sin but i love my neighbor” is homophobia. you don’t get to hide behind a shield of “i don’t think it’s right, but i still support them” because, shocker, you’re still perpetuating homophobia. just because you don’t yell at gay couples holding hands or throw slurs at them doesn’t mean you’re not homophobic. yours is a sinister, quieter, violent-in-a-different-way homophobia that continues to hurt sga youth. you hide behind a shield of false righteousness because you think you’ve got a free pass by saying “they’re sinners but i’ll forgive them anyway because i’m a good christian” but you’re part of the people that drive gay kids to suicide. you may think you’re “not as bad” but you contribute to the problem, you make it worse, and you don’t listen to the people of the group you claim to support when they tell you that you’re not doing what you should. instead of getting offended and claiming you didn’t do anything wrong when someone calls you out on your homophobia maybe use what little goddamn brain cells you have to think about it and maybe, just maybe, change your behavior
