“Oh shush it, I didn’t take that long, she said, biting into the Twizzlers, “I was just sending some e-mail,” Sutton let him know what she was doing before and get herself comfortable in his embrace on the couch, she just snuggled to him easily, “What? I’ve never heard of this movie,” she said to Isaac again after he told her the title of the movie they’re watching.

“Oh, you are in for a ride.” He promised. He loved this absurdist ways of this movie, so much. It was so odd and a little silly, the perfect combination of things for them. “It’s not going to make any sense, but you’ll enjoy it anyway. I can’t really describe it either. It’s... indescribable.”

Reese: With work, or a pretty young thing by the name of Marissa? Uh huh and you thought you could hide her from me. Muhahahaha.

Reese: Seriously though. Are you alright? Need anything?

Isaac: I really wasn't hiding her from you. Things are complicated there.

Isaac: Just a lot of sleep. Maybe a little alcohol. Lots of junk food.

Reese: You do have a point. You've always been the biggest pain in my ass, so this shouldn't phase me at all. ;)

Reese: You okay, man? Need a sandwich? Some ice cream? I promise I won't eat it on the way over.

Reese: Okay, correction. I promise I'll at least save you a spoonful.

Isaac: I've been better. I think I'm mostly just drained more than anything else. I've been nonstop for a while.

Reese: So...a little birdie told me that you were back in town...

Reese: And you didn't even tell YOUR BESTEST FRIEND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD?!

Reese: Rude AF. Isaac. Rude. As. Fuck.

Isaac: Sorry, though. I haven't even unpacked, I've been so drained.

“Oh yeah. But it always does.” Marissa muttered with a sigh. “There are just so many kids…” She shrugged her shoulders a little. “How are things with yours?” She asked. Marissa wasn’t sure about any of this. She didn’t know where she stood with Isaac, but she wasnt going to just out right out. She would figure it out. Sooner or later. She was sure.

“There are so many people in prison.” Isaac muttered with a sigh. He didn’t mind his job, really. It just had it’s ups and downs. Isaac glanced at her again, letting his eyes linger on her, really unsure of what he should be doing.

For the last couple of weeks after coming back from Aspen, Sutton’s life has been consisting of work, work, and some more work. Between all of her work in City Hall, the call to D.C about one of the case she used to work on when she was a fixer, then the appearance of her supposedly birth mother really rocked her boat. Or so to speak. Everything is piling up and she felt like she’s drowning and she almost take a rain check on the movie night with Isaac, but after everything she guessed she needed the night off and some time with her best friend. “Alright, I’m coming,” she said to him after finishing an email to the private investigator she asked to look into the woman who claimed to be her birth mother. After sending the email she went to the living room, grabbed a pack of Twizzlers and sat down, “So what are we watching?”

Isaac wrapped his arms around her when she sat down next to him, stealing one of her Twizzlers in the process. “Took you long enough. I thought I was just going to have to watch the whole movie without you.” Isaac said, pretending to be annoyed with her, even giving her a fake eye roll. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen this movie twenty times already, and knew it inside and out. “John Dies at the End,” He offered when she asked.

She smiled at him over her shoulder as he spoke. SHe was definitely glad to hear that. Honestly, Marissa wondered if it was actually true, but she wasn’t going to complain. As kind of a reflex, Marissa couldn’t help but curl up against him as he sat down next to her. Man, she really was smitten. “You did?” She asked. Even that slightly surprised her. She laughed a little as he spoke. “I know how that can be.. Work has been crazy for me since we got back. But you can always come to me if you want some time off..” 

Marissa just kind of molded into his side, and Isaac had to use this better judgement on returning the touchy gesture. He settled with letting his arm rest around her shoulders. “So work’s been keeping you busy too, then?” Isaac asked, trying to keep the small talk going while he tried to figure out exactly what it was he was trying to do with the whole situation he had found himself in.

She nodded her head as Isaac spoke. Well, at least he was there. She hadn’t realised how much she had actually missed seeing him, but seeing him now showed that to her. She had just missed talking to him. Honestly, she hadn’t realised that she had missed him as much as she had. “You think?” She asked with a raise of an eyebrow before she smiled at him. “Well hey- it’s good to see your face.” She reached up to kiss his cheek before she moved to the couch and settled down. Marissa smiled over to him. Yeah, she was definitely smitten and she was glad that he was here. 

Isaac let out a small, slightly awkward laugh at her question. “I don’t mean it like that. I’m glad to see you.” Isaac admitted as she leaned up to plant a kiss on his cheek. A half smile ghosted over his lips. He moved to sit on the couch next to her, still not really sure what to do. He couldn’t pinpoint what compelled him to see her, but all he knew is that he wanted to be around her for a bit. He missed her, and some pull that she had over him wouldn’t allow him to ignore that fact. “I’ve missed seeing you. I feel like all I’ve been doing is working. I haven’t seen much of anyone lately.

Isaac had purposely been drowning himself in work and exercise. Anything to keep his mind off his personal life, seeing as it was a bit of a shit show at the moment. It was his only defense when it came to stuff like that. However, when it came to Sutton, he would always make some kind of time for some sort of fun. Especially because she worked too hard, too. That’s how he got talked into a movie night, not that he needed much convincing. The movie was in, opening credits playing, a bowl of popcorn, a bag of Twizzlers, wine, soda, and water on the table, and the couch was surrounded by blankets and a couple of pillows. “Sutt, get your butt over here before the movie starts. The remote is too far away for me to pause it.” Isaac called. @suttonfitzgerald

Marissa hadn’t really been doing much of anything recently. She had just wanted to be on her own for a while. She had been busy with work and trying to keep up with everything that was going on… but then she heard the knock at the door and whilst she definitely didn’t mind the company, she wasn’t really expecting anyone… least of all who it actually was. “Isaac… Hey.” Marissa smile as she stepped aside to let him in. She hadn’t seen him in a while and, whilst she hadn’t really been avoiding him, she hadn’t exactly been seeking him out either. It was just awkward and she didn’t know what to say to him anymore. Every time she was in front of him, she wanted to tell him what it was that went on in her head, but she didn’t know how to do that. She couldn’t do that. Because that would mean losing him and she never wanted that. That sounded like the worst idea in the world to her. What she failed to notice was she was losing him now regardless. Or, at least, she was losing the friendship that they had built. “Come in. Do you want something to drink or anything?”

Isaac felt like he was being driven up a wall more and more everyday. He had isolated himself, drowning himself in work like he always did when he started to feel this way. He thought of simple hookups, but every time he walked into the bar, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything in fear of feeling like he was betraying her in some way. But, Isaac needed to be able to clear his cloudy head for some amount of time, and the easiest way to do that was to see her. She was barely two doors over, and he hadn’t talked to her in so long. So he showed up at her door with no plan in mind beyond just being there. “Hi, no don’t worry. I just-- uh, wanted to see you, I think.” Isaac said, not really explaining himself all that well.

I figured the flask could mean that no-one else will steal your drink… since it’s all personalised and everything that would be pretty hard, right? Isaac wasn’t sure about attending the party. He thought he was going out of his mind. His head was swimming, and he wasn’t sure that going to a party was exactly what he needed to be doing, but he went anyway. Marissa approached him, and he offered a half a smile. “Hey. A drink maybe. Do you want anything?” He asked.
