A menstrual pad, also known as a sanitary pad, sanitary towel, sanitary napkin or feminine napkin is an absorbent item worn by women in their underwear when menstruating, bleeding after giving birth, recovering from gynecologic surgery, experiencing a miscarriage or abortion, or in any other situation where it is necessary to absorb a flow of blood from the vagina. It is very personal and intimate. It is NOT something that can be shown to the world or to others as these pads are somehow considered as 'sacred' and confidential.
When I was a young boy, I used to see people buying and selling these items in a well-organised and secretive transactions. Back then, the person selling these items knew his or her role in the society and the reason why it was important to keep the whole transaction confidential. The item would be wrapped in old newspapers or other paper-materials. The person buying it would carry it undisclosed. It was a scene that everyone else treated with much respect.
Now it is like a joke. Like a national news. Neither the sellers nor the buyers have the courtesy to keep these items UNDISCLOSED.
Some things remain beautiful when they are HIDDEN.
