Someone tonight asked the question, of what the definition of love is to me,and it's as plain as this:

Love isn't about kissing, hugging,fucking or anything in the sense. It's about caring and being cared for. Listening and to be listened to.being able to be to be your true self and being comfortable to express what you keep locked away and hidden and being your true self with. It's speaking with honesty from your heart with nothing to hide and no doubt or speculation. That's what love really is in my opinion, I could be wrong though

it was friday night in your apartment the smell of vanilla swirling in the air from the lit candles. you were tucked in your blanket, anxiously clicking the remote but all you can think of was james how he hasn’t texted you back since wednesday you knew he was busy with everything goin on… but couldn’t he just check in with you? you chuckled to yourself how selfish you seemed he’s an idol now what did you expect.

an hour passed by until you heard a knock at your door it startled you a bit because who the hell is knocking on someone’s door at 1 am but you get up anyway heading to the door before opening it you check the little peep hole and there he was…

james standing in the rain mumbling to himself like he was rehearsing lines you stepped back you didn’t know what to do but something in you wanted to know why did he just leave like that interrupting your thoughts he knocked again and you could hear his voice outside “y/n I know your probably mad at me but please let me explain” you sighed to yourself opening the door bracing your self and there he was his hair wet rain dripping down on his face and in his hand he was holding a bouquet of flowers you smiled softly but no you couldn’t give in not yet you spoke up “should I be cruel and just let you stand out here or?” you said hint of playfulness but firm he shook his head like a little puppy and god was it the cutest thing ever.

you step aside just enough for him to come in, but you don’t say anything. he hesitates before stepping in as if he hasn’t done it a million times which makes your eyes roll he comes in slowly as the door shuts behind him. rainwater dripping from the ends of his hair onto the wooden floor. his hoodie clinged to him a bit soaked still holding the bouquet of flowers, you looked at him god he was gorgeous what were these people feeding kpop idols but you cleared your throat catching his attention.

“well?” you say crossing your arms. “you said you wanted to explain” he runs a hand down his face, exhaling shakily. “I didn’t leave because I don’t care” he starts. “I left because I care too much” you look at him with a confused expression “that doesn’t even make sense.”

“I know, I know” his voice cracks just slightly. “the company’s been watching everything. the comments, the rumors… they started asking questions about you. about us.” your chest tightens of course this would happen… people eventually find out you just thought you could of prepared better for this day. “I thought if I pulled away for a little, it would protect you. protect us. but then wedensday happened and I didn’t know how to fix it without making it worse” he let out a sigh coming after.

theres a long pause… the rain outside filling the silence.

you speak up waking closer to him a small smile on your face “I don’t care about the rumors, I care about you shutting me out” he steps closer as well not too close but just enough where you can see the sincere look on his face “I was scared” he says, “im still scared, but I rather go against everyone else then go against you.”

you stood there looking at him, vision blurring slightly eyes slowly filling with tears. that tight feeling in your throat made it hard to breathe but you swallowed it down anyway. “james… you don’t have to worry about protecting me” a soft chuckle escaping your lips. he looked at you and gave a small nod, but his jaw clenched. “I know but I feel like if I don’t… you’ll leave” you shook your head stepping closer, taking his hand in yours tracing soft circles on the back of his hand.

“why would i?” you asked gently. “do you really think i care about what other people say about a relationship they know nothing about ?” his eyes dropping to your intertwined hands before lifting back up to yours. “you’re right…” he breathed. his gaze shifted to the flowers still clutched in his hand he extended them toward you, a little shy now.

“here” you smiled softly, taking them from him and walking into the kitchen. you could hear his quiet footsteps following behind you as you filled a vase with water and placed the flowers inside. when you turned back around, he was just standing there smiling. “why are you smiling like that?” you asked suspiciously. he walked closer until your back lightly hit the counter, his hands resting on both side of you. his head tilted slightly as he looked down at you.

“because” he murmured, eyes softer than you’d ever seen them “i love you.” your breath caught — and before you could respond, his lips were on yours. softly not rushing but patient and longing like he was trying to say everything he was scared to say before. you smiled into the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck pulling him closer. when you finally pulled back, resting your forehead against his. “I love you too james”

and now…

just with the boy you love most .
