Contact Me
Hello all :) Just letting you know that my email is isobelartist[at]gmail.com, if you wanna contact me at all! Also feel free to send through an ask whenever :)
I've taken inspiration from an absolutely brilliant artist I follow on Instagram - @maruti_bitamin (and as I was tagging their name I realise they're on tumblr too! YES! maruti-bitamin)
The artwork I took inspiration from was called "Giants in the Mountain" and I thought it was beautiful! So I did my own thing with that piece in mind! Give them a follow because their stuff is amazing! Hope you like this :) x
"Personified Landscape"
This video shows the process of me doing this painting from start to finish! Hope you enjoy!
Apologies for the bad quality image.. It was the best I could do.
A bit about this...
This year I have explored the theme of 'illness' though my artwork. This is very personal for me because I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In this piece it shows the landscape to be a metaphor for the human body, incorporating the idea that nature and human beings are together, showing the struggle in parts of the landscape itself, as well as showing hope.
"Held Down"
This painting was done earlier in the year for my year 12 art piece. It explores the effects my chronic fatigue has on me: feeling heavy and weighed down, physically and mentally and how it changes how my brain seems to work.
The middle figure is how the outer world sees me looking tired, but other than that reasonably well. The face on the right shows a partially blurred out face, and this is a representation on what it's like inside: foggy, not thinking straight, unable to put thoughts together. And finally the arm and body being held down, also touching on that sense of being held down and being vulnerable.
