10 Things Nobody Tells You About Leaving A Place (Or People, Or Things) You Still Love.
1. Love is a fickle thing, and it takes new forms on any given day. Somedays you’ll wake up in the city you left, with the person you left on your mind, and you’ll desperately wish for that life back. Other days you’ll want parts of it, and somedays you’ll just be happy with the memories. There’s no rhyme, no reason, no logic to your feelings, like always - the best you can do is honor them, and hope for the best.
2.The things that you’ll miss the most will be weird ones, and the things you’ll be okay without, the memories that will make you laugh instead of cry, will surprise you.
3. It’s okay to be weak, to backtrack, to wonder.
4. A future without that place/person/thing begins to come into view, and it’s terrifying at first, and maybe it will be terrifying always, but you’re going to make it out alive.
5. The what-ifs don’t go away, they just change.
6. No door is ever completely closed, which is both a blessing and a curse as you create something new, and try to have answers to unanswerable questions.
7. You’re never going to have it all together anyways.
8. You’ve spent your whole life being soft, and listening to logic instead of your heart isn’t going to change that. And, side note: soft is different from weak anyways.
9.It’s not easy, but you’ll begin to be happy it isn’t.
10. Life will go on. And it will be exactly what it needs to, but sometimes it’s okay to get back on your tumblr and write messy lists with all your feelings, because it’s okay to still feel things, and wonder, and wish for a future that you’re already working to build.
