Guys, upon actually watching season 7 of Gilmore Girls in full (I usually skip most of it in my re-watches) I have a new appreciation for Logan/Rory.

I’ve always liked them on and off, like parts of their relationship I’ve always love and parts I’ve disliked but after this last rewatch I really am loving them anddd despite being a Rory/Jess fan I do actually think Logan/Rory should have been endgame. I think they were really great for the majority of season 7 and I feel like the proposal and breakup like took them back 10 steps and didn’t make a lot of sense? Idk I feel like they had grown together and were in such a good solid place, it seemed weird to end on that note like one episode before the finale.

Also side note... I’m also realizing that Logan kind of reminds me of my husband (though without the whole coming from a wealthy family part) so that might be part of my newfound appreciation of their relationship.

Hey all! Looking for some fic recs yet again. I’m on maternity leave and watching my comfort shows for the 2434 time. Lol! I tend to watch Gilmore Girls on sections. I’ll binge seasons 1-3 and be really into Rory/Jess and then take a break, then I’ll do some combination of 4-7 and be into Rory/Logan. So right now I’m into Rory/Logan but I’ve never read much fic of them and I’m not even sure if there’s much good fic out there. 

So if anyone has any good Logan/Rory fic recs I’d be super grateful. I’m more interested in canon compliant fic. I’d be okay with fix it fic, fic following season 7 or even AYITL. I also would be into anything that introduces Logan into Rory’s Stars Hallow world a bit more. Any and all help would be super great. I know this couple and this show is older so there may not be much out there but I figured I’d ask.

Here are my Evermore song rankings after one half asleep listen at 2 in the morning. These will certainly change after more listens.

1. happiness (may rank lower later but hit me in the gut on the first listen) 2. ivy (why is everybody sleeping on this song, it’s so good?) 3. no body, no crime (cool vibe, cool story, may rank lower later though) 4. ‘tis the damn season (which I expected to hate based on the title) 5. tolerate it (love the theme of the song) 6. champagne problems (catchy and lyrically fun, might get annoying with too many listens, not sure yet)

So honestly that’s the list of songs that off the bat I LOVED. The rest of the ranking is kind of a toss up because I didn’t feel an immediate pull to any of the songs. 

7.  goldrush (cool story, not sure about the ethereal sections of music fitting into the song for me)  8. long story short (I liked it off the bat because it like woke me up from all the slow piano songs on the album but I may have just liked the change up in music, lol) 9. willow (I don’t know why but this song isn’t doing it for me, there are aspects I like but something is missing the mark for me.) 10. closure (the versus are some of my favorite on the album but the chorus really brings the song down for me, it just doesn’t fit IMO) 11. dorthea (I need more listens for this one) 12. cowboy like me (didn’t love it as much as everyone else off the bat, we’ll see if it grows) 13. marjorie (sweet song, not a stand out for me, but she didn’t write this one for us IMO so I get that) 14. coney island (lyrically very good, musically a bit bland) 15. evermore (the sound effect on some of the vocals kind of ruined it for me, just not my cup of tea) 

Overall I like the album, I can see myself putting it on while I read or mellow out. But for me, after one listen, I do think it felt like an album of songs that didn’t make the cut on Folklore with a few stronger songs thrown in as well. I don’t mean that in a hateful way, it just wasn’t as strong of an album as a whole for me. There were a handful of songs that I loved off the bat and will probably grow to love even more. But as a complete piece of work I connected to Folklore much more. Musically this kind of stayed in one lane for me more than I wanted it to. But some people might actually like that aspect of it. Again, I have to listen more to really form an opinion. I’ll probably listen a few more times today and update the rankings.

Before starting Evermore I kind of already feel like I’m gonna have fun listening but I won’t LOVE it like I do Folklore. That might have more to do with where I was in life when Folklore came out vs now. But I just love Folklore sooo deeply so idk.

I was home from work last week and watched some of my favorite season 1 SPN episodes in honor of the finale, and I just love the magic of the early seasons. The concept was simple and just hit the nail on the head. 

So now, I’m watching some season 2 stuff and that means meeting Jo and Ellen and of course I love the shit outta them. Watching their first episode it just reminds me that I will truly NEVER understand how fandom did them so dirty. Like, girls in general were done so dirty on this show and it makes no sense to me but that’s another issue. Like, fandom bitches about Mary Sue’s all the time and then they get this character with flaws, real FLAWS but also she’s so easy to relate to and root for and they TRASH her. It’s so freaking weird to me watching these season 2 episodes. And Alana did such a great job portraying her so even the acting was on point. 

I won’t lie I fell out of touch with the show probably around season 6 ish, and only checked back in here and there. It had more to do with me not loving the SL direction. I liked the initial concept and while I get that they couldn’t run with that forever, I just didn’t love the direction it took. Just wasn’t for me. Anyways, that being said I will forever be bitter there wasn’t more Jo in the earlier seasons due to shitty fan response and I will forever wish there was more fic and whatnot too. Like yes I shipped Dean/Jo but even the ship aside, I just thought that Ellen and Jo were great and The Roadhouse was a GREAT concept and probably had the coolest history. Like you could almost make a spin off about a bar where hunters passed through and traded info and left messages etc. I just feel like there was SOOO much wasted potential and I will never be over it.

It’s still so fucking funny to me that the supernatural writers brought deancas on themselves by their own obsession with misogyny, like fans going “hey, love the show but at least 2% of the time could women exist as something other than disposable sexual objects or maternal figures?” and the writers being like “no 🧡” and in so doing accidentally created a portal that released unrelenting homosexuality, just an absolutely Titanic-level romance between two men all bc they couldn’t keep a woman alive for more than two consecutive episodes lmao

A lot of newer fans don’t know what happened in the early seasons. Whenever they tired to introduce a female character they’d get flooded with hate mail and there would be on-line campaigns to get her written off the show

There was so much instant hate for Jo that the network told them to get rid of her but Kripke fought because he loved her. He had to fight the same fight every single season because the execs kept insisting it wasn’t worth keeping an unpopular character. Part of the reason Kripke killed her in season 5 is because he was leaving and he knew the network would make them get rid of Jo once he was gone. He didn’t want someone else handling the death of one of his favorite characters

TV Guide teased before season 4 that 2 recurring female characters would be added to the show. That’s it, no descriptions of the characters or even their names, just their gender. The magazine and the network got so much hate mail over this that Kripke had to do a special interview just to beg fans to give the characters a chance. When he lost the fight to keep Bela he did another interview about how devastated the writers were to lose her as a character and all the amazing stories they’d had planned for her

The actress who played Lisa was sent death threats by fans

This is just a small sampling, but the same thing happened with any female characters who were the same age as the boys

The show became cautious about female characters. They had to, the network wasn’t happy about the hate mail and the show was always on the verge of being cancelled. The hate mail and “write her off” campaigns for female characters didn’t die down until the end of season 7. They still existed, but they weren’t as strong as they used to be. By season 9 we started seeing more female characters, but you can tell they remained cautious. The hate groups still exist, their numbers have dwindled but they’re not gone. All us old timers have been holding our breath every time a new, amazing woman is added to the show because we know there will be hate mail and we worry it’ll be enough to make the network pull the plug on her

You can’t write women into your little show that’s always on the verge of cancellation if the fans complain every time you add a female character

I remember the Jo hate clearly! I loved her and everyone else hated her. I remember a little after she died fans suddenly acted like they loved her and were sad and I was like huhhh?! I also loved ruby and people hatedddd her, that was slightly more understandable though lol. And I don’t think anyone minded when she was gone. But yeah very toxic to females. At least in the first like 6/7 seasons, I didn’t watch much after that so I can only speak for what I saw.

Favorite song to play? Selfishly, it has to be ‘Hesitate’. ‘Hesitate’ is a song I wrote, it’s like my vows before I wrote my vows. It’s my promise to Sophie. ALSOOO can we talk about how Sarah is the MOST extra this season? She has zero chill and while i’m so happy she hasn’t gotten hurt like... she is borderline reckless this season. 

I had to laugh when John told her to stay at his place and he’d be back. And like 5 minutes after he left she bounced and went to find the literal psychotic murderer. She legit was like, “nope not even gonna waste the time arguing with him, I’ll just nod along and then leave when he leaves.” LOLOL

And his face when he finds out she went after Libby. Like “FUCK I should have known she agreed too easily.”

You all already know I was HERE for the Sarah/John sex scene. All of their scenes were great. Like, I love that he actually apologized to her even though she kind of deserved SOME level of what he said last week. But he was so mature about it. 

Also I was DYING as his fiance (I can not for the life of me remember her name) was talking about how he always lights up when Sarah walks in a room, how he basically has heart eyes whenever she’s around or mentioned lol, cause like, YUP. He’s been the LEAST subtle this season. 

Anyway the sex scene was beautiful and lovely and I liked it a lot. I want to see at least another kiss this season though.
