Demo Update (April, 24, 2025): Episode 2

Added: +150k (including code + duplicate job scenes with text variations)

TOTAL: 303,452 WORDS

Here is episode 2. The demo is over 300,000 words and since the last update I've learned the trick of separating files so there will likely be errors and maybe some inconsistencies/continuity errors. Please give me a heads up if you do find any error or typo. I will be looking for beta testers in the future. This is my first IF so I'm still learning as I go.

After fixing everything, I remain uncertain about the stats. A large part of me doesn't want visible stats at all since there's so many I can use, limiting myself to a couple is making it difficult to balance them. If anyone has any suggestions from other IFs or from experience, I'm happy to hear them.

The Freshman: first time through I went for James (not white). He was sexy and interesting, but thennn they changed his face and he became a huge nerd/dork instead of mysterious like he was at first. Ended up ditching him for Zig (looks white… except he’s Latino so he ain’t really white)😰 My MC was the medium skinned one and in my headcannon she’s Latina

Verdict: not-white, Zig is latino

TCATF: I got Dom and Kenna together (white, though Raydan (he don’t look that white but he ain’t black) was quite tempting…

#lovehacks: Chose Ben. He kinda looks Asian to me but idk? Anyway my MC was the black one with the red hair.

TRR: Liam. Narrative pushed me towards him. I also chose the standard(?) version that’s on the cover because it was on the cover, and he looks most like his siblings, though at first I found the Asian one most attractive.

Endless Summer: started out with Sean. Got to book 3, hadn’t used any diamonds, and got soo bored of him because he was just so… good and not very interesting. Ended up restarting, going for Jake and spent looootsa diamonds. I was the African American MC.

Verdict: white, Jake, though MC is black

HSS: Went for Caleb. He was the cutest and narrative seemed to push me that way. Never restarted but kinda wish I’d have gone for Michael (kinda like in ES I went for Jake). But it has nothing to do with skin color, I just think they aren’t too interesting. I was the super white MC with blonde hair lol

Verdict: black, Caleb

HSS2: I’m going for Ajay. I was gonna go for Rory (I made him the black one bc I always want to make them black but then they smile and look like a horse. It’s not against black skin but the artists, why do you make them smile like that??? Anyway I was so happy black Rory was just really cute and I was gonna date him). But I found Rory boring and went for Ajay who I love. Ajay looks Indian to me? Is that right?

Verdict: non-white, Ajay is Indian (I looked up the name Ajay and found lots of Indian ppl with that name)

RCD: I went for Matt because well, idk I just did. I’m not crazy about any of those LIs to be honest, though.

AME: I went for the “handsome stranger,” though I also messed around with the “beautiful contestant” lol. Again though, I didn’t get too invested in any relationships here. MC was the black one.

Perfect Match: Damien. He’s human and male and they’re cute together. Though I WAS a little seduced by Hayden sometimes… (he was the dark haired white one) but the whole robot human thing was too weird for me.

Ilitw: meh I didn’t really like many people from the gang. Ended up dating Connor 😂 I didn’t remember him looking so weird when he came back in ILB

Blood Bound: Adrian. Tried to go for Jax but found him dull. I can’t believe I wasted diamonds in that stupid scene where he cooks for you 😩 I have the sexy Adrian, with the middle tone skin. My MC was the Emma Watson lookalike.

Home for the Holidays: WHO CARES?? 😂 I went for the boss dude tho. Can’t remember his name.

BSC: I don’t care about this book and honestly I could go for Dallas or Sawyer at this point. I def find Dallas most attractive and like his personality, but he’s hardly there and there’s kind of a paywall… lame.

Verdict: undecided but probably black (for Dallas)

Elementalists: Haven’t decided. Probably gonna go for the Draco dude though because he seems most interesting to me. MC is the black one.

TL;DR The majority of the dudes I choose are white but it’s because of their personality and nothing against the color. I like having diverse MCs so I switch it up often. Let people date who they want, but folks, don’t be racist.

Oh and also, even if I do mostly date white dudes in the games (partially due to paywalls around non-white LIs and a higher number of white options) it’s just coincidence since I only choose off of personality. Also also, my husband’s black so I think that trumps a choose-your-own story app 😂

LOL Cal's route seems the most chaotic now because it's the one with the most info but dont worry :> every route has its fair share of chaos. Cal's just happens to hit…too close to MC's home :P

Personally I think the Andi/Rainn/MC debacle is the most chaotic. I mean they're all best(former) friends LOL I think Rainn is capable of keeping their composure with every RO but Andi. I think the version of Rainn that the players get in Andi's route is unique to Andi's route only. It's just that different.

Andi is not only your close friend but also your anchor, a confidant you can lean on through everything. Friendly and humorous, Andi is a walking green flag...aside from the fact that their job always has them traveling. Their constant disappearances and sporadic absence makes it hard for them to make any meaningful relationships, both platonic and romantic. Andi hasn't had much in the latter department...not that they're looking. They need someone who understands them. A person they believe is hard to find.

Also Rainn's best friend, Andi is now stuck in the middle of your breakup. Forced to play pacemaker and both sides. Andi doesn't want to but they don't really have a choice,do they? Better not to do anything to make things more complicated. Not that there would be any reason to. Right?

Don't date your best friend. Especially not your best friend who also happens to be your ex's best best friend. That is an easy rule. It should be an easy rule.

Andi has light brown skin, brown eyes and thick black hair. f!A's hair is wavy and falls down their back while m!A's hair is floppy and cut short just above their ears. Their style is loose and comfortable and slightly bohemian.

Oh my god Tyril’s route carries so much angst right now. We meet him in book 1 and he’s been trying to find a way to save Kaya for almost a year and now when he’s supposed to be at peace he has to spend another year trying to get his lover back.

regarding mc’s curse. the choice in which you can either hold back from touching leander’s hand for the first time or just outright going for it really makes me think about the exact nature of mc’s curse. we know that they’ve had it since birth, the basics of its effect and how it manifests on their hands, but because of how guarded mc is about it, we don’t really know much else. however, you can see a great difference in how it works from that single choice with leander alone.

holding back makes leander reach for mc’s hand himself, since he doesn’t want them to back out of letting him find an alternative to the senobium. however, doing so makes leander’s expression darkens, and he even goes as far as to nearly grab mc’s neck before snapping out of it and going: what an interesting curse you have! :D. it reminded me of how the praying traveller from earlier on in the game immediately went for mc’s neck when the curse took its effect on him. so there’s a very high possibility that leander is indeed affected by the curse, but his aptitude as a mage is so high that he’s able to fight back against it.

however, you see nothing wrong when mc makes the decision to hold leander’s hand of their own accord. leander is all smiley, says smth about how interesting mc’s curse is, and once again proves how he’s immune to the effects of the curse. none of that ‘expression darkening’ or ‘hand reaching for my neck’ sort of thing.

and it made me wonder about how all the times i’ve seen mc make bare hand to hand contact with someone (at least in the routes i’ve played so far, which is leander’s) was never of their own accord. the curse took effect on the traveller who took mc’s hand without hearing their warnings, and it nearly took over leander as well before he resisted it on his own.

so what if the worst of mc’s curse only happens when they are unwillingly touched? they’ve mentioned that it’s been years since they were able to touch someone like they can with leander, which suggests that while their curse has existed since birth, there might have been a time where it wasn’t as bad— or at least, the effect of the curse wasn’t at all immediate. perhaps the curse still does take effect when mc chooses to hold leander’s hand instead of hesitating, but it’s similar to how it was in the past, so leander didn’t have to make that immediate attempt to hold himself back.
