oh look its me, a spooky october rebecca, ooOOOOOOooooo
me yesterday: i think i’ll pass on arms
me today: i’ll die for minmin
i made this to post on twitter, the idea being that you can’t see the text until you click on the full uncropped version. that sneaky honeypot trick doesnt work on tumblr, though!!
(it also didn’t really work very well on twitter either unless you were browsing on mobile)
for the record, my verdict on camilla is that she has a skilfully put-together design in service of an absolutely dumb and out-of-place character concept, and even having lavishly drawn her im sticking by that. shes the widowmaker of fire emblem and thats not a compliment. get off my lawn and go to church, why don’t ya!!
Here’s my piece for the December page of the 2016 Homestuck Calendar!
Everyone knows about the summerteens, and their romance… but did you know… about winterteens? This… is that story
…I’ve been aching to show this off for a long time…
undertale by toby fox is a game by toby fox and it is available at undertale.com
Here’s a little fanart to accompany a BIG occasion!
Undertale, by the cool and funny and talented Toby Fox, is here! This game is an incredible experience, with hilarious surprises at every turn, gripping gameplay, a stunningly catchy soundtrack, and an often-heartwrenching story.
Undertale is going to become the talk of the town very very fast! If you’re going in totally cold, there’s a free demo you can try that covers the first area of the game. But even if you have played the demo, the game has so much more in store than you’d ever guess!

oh hey its a honey crab
I’ve been drawing ytris a ton (not much that I’ve been happy enough with to share), but I hadn’t really been drawing honey at all or refining her design, and that seems like a mistake since she is the title character and will show up on page one
one thing I’ve really tried to do as I gear up for this project is loosen up my drawing style
It’s cliffhangeriffic! It’s denouement-tastic! it’s done!
You can now read what I am calling the Season One Finale of I Want You to Feel the Pressure, and once you’ve done that, you can start getting hyped for The Thing That Comes Next
dayblog for Big Comic
if the page cuts off at the elevator scene, hit ctrl-f5 or shift-f5. its a lot longer than that I assure you
this is Honey Bun. she is an adventurous bee bunny magical girl and the star of Honey Crab's absolute favourite video game
this was more or less the initial idea for the character who would eventually become Ytris, but she changed and developed so much that the original concept eventually disappeared! including Honey Bun as a video game hero seems like a fun way to preserve her
Honey Crab is 13 years old, and she develops her own superhero persona in the way that kids often do when they come up with OCs; by closely following the pattern of a character she loves :3
oh hey so who's this
wallpaper complete! back down to... two months behind. yikes!!
(this is only a cropped 'n' shrunk thumbnail, the full thing's for patreon backers!)
still tryin' to crank out that wallpaper for patreon backers!! technically this is the april piece, haha I'm so behind on that shit. I will probably also sell this generally as a print, too
originally lily and corinne were going to be on the beach in the background, but that wasn't working out compositionally so I moved things around and now they're gonna be gettin' their cute on in the foreground
WORKIN ON WALLPAPERS I SWEAR
I think I kinda needed to refresh myself colour-ways, a bright daytime scene is hitting the spot for me
half of the outfits from the march IWYTFTP patreon-backer wallpaper!
why is the march wallpaper going out in may?
BECAUSE I FELL BEHIND SSSSSHHHHH
Alright so I made this graph. Note that only the y-axis is relevant; the x-axis does not represent any quantity and only exists for the sake of visual arrangement.
QUICKTERMS:
Hue - The “flavour” of a colour; whether a colour is bluish, reddish, tealish, etc
Value - The lightness of a colour. Maximum value is pure white, zero value is pure black.
Chroma - The strength or paleness of a colour. Having no chroma means a colour is black, white, or a shade of grey.
When working with digital colours, it’s good to have an understanding of the properties that different hues have, especially regarding value. A colour system like Photoshop’s HSB picker will tell you that pure blue and pure yellow have the same “Brightness”, but this is of limited use, since that system defines “Brightness” in a numerically-centric way that doesn’t have much to do with the perceptual value of a colour.
Every pixel on your monitor emits some combination of R (red), G (green), and B (blue). The gamut of your monitor represents all the possible colour combinations these components can create. This is an additive system in which the stronger each component is, the lighter the resulting colour is. When all three are emitting maximally, the result is the colour with the highest possible value, pure white (or at least, the purest white your monitor is capable of).
In RGB, colours have the most chroma when one component is maxed out, and one is at zero (the third component can be anywhere inbetween). The plot above shows every possible colour that satisfies this condition, and how light each one is. The larger dots represent the six cardinal hues (red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, magenta). The smaller dots represent the halfway points between those hues.
One can see on this plot that pure blue is much, much darker than pure yellow. Why is this?
The reason is that the R, G, and B components of a colour don’t all contribute equally to its value. G contributes the most, while B contributes the least. This is reflected in the value calculation formula shown above.
Pure blue has only the B component working for it, so it ends up being quite dark. Pure yellow, on the other hand, consists of both the R and G components at their strongest, making it extremely light.
The two most important practical effects of all this are:
Different hues will contribute differently to the light/dark balance of a piece. Keep this in mind when considering how a chosen colour will impact the weight of your composition!
Some hues are simply not available at certain combinations of value/chroma. It is not possible to lighten pure blue without mixing it with white or grey and reducing its chroma. Similarly, it is not possible to darken pure yellow without mixing it with black or grey and reducing its chroma.
I WASN’T BLUFFING WHEN I SAID I WAS GOING TO DRAW TOUHOUS
