Thanks, jbiz. You’re okay too. Sadly, I don’t think a flight would make it in to Chicago in this weather. But I do agree that I miss being in the same place as you (and all those ladies).

I’m one of those people that actually really loves a beautiful, white, crisp, snowy day. So today I found myself feeling a little homesick for Chicago while talking to my friends/family about the foot of snow and browsing Facebook seeing statuses about tomorrow’s snow day. So, I decided to distract myself by fully enjoying San Diego. Tonight was my very first beach bonfire with friends from work and it was everything I imagined it would be. It’s not the same as a cozy snow day and it’s still completely wonderful. xoxo, A (at Crown Point Shores)

Spent the afternoon at the dog beach. Not bad, January… Not bad at all. (at Del Mar Dog Beach)

When this is my destination, it is easier to motivate myself to go for a run. It was a nice & easy one today. 3 miles. I ran a bit faster than I usually do, which felt good! Happy weekend! xoxo, A

Last night I had the intention to blog about my weekend… But that would have required me to accept the fact that the weekend was ending. I miss it already.

In the last 3 years, I’ve lived in Chicago, NYJ (I classify it that way because I lived in New Jersey right across the Hudson from Manhattan so most of my “living” was done in the city), and Southern California. Needless to say, I’ve acquired the skill of learning how to pack my belongings (mostly shoes) in a hurry. I moved after finishing grad school in Chicago, matching for my internship in NJ, and then landing a postdoc in San Diego.

Having recently made the move to a small beach town from two very large urban areas, I’m acclimating to an entirely new lifestyle. I started a new job, am meeting all new people, and got a new PUPPY (who will be regularly featured, I’m sure)… So I figured this was as good a time as any to start a blog.

I have a number of really great friends from college who have found motivation & support for working out, gotten validation for their professional frustrations and made lifelong friends from tumblr. They’ve tried to talk me in to joining in the past but I was resistant. There was something about this morning that made it the perfect time to spontaneously join— maybe it was the beautiful SoCal sunshine, the fact that it was Friday The 13th or maybe because I decided to go into work later than normal— so I just did it!

This blog likely won’t be about one specific topic— It will be a place for me to just appreciate the moment, wherever that moment takes me. So, thanks for having me tumblr community! xoxo, A
