Me, myself, and I
First of all, you'll have to excuse the way this is written, I write how things come out of my mind, not necessarily how they would make sense to the reader. It's funny how time can change things. A lot or a little. Just yesterday I found it almost physically painful to be in my own skin. I was dead set on writing a post about how I wanted to spend one day in someone else's body, not their life, just their body. I wanted to see what it would be like just to look different and feel different. But today I woke up and I got ready for the class, and up and I was/am so content with who I am and what I look like, and just amazed me how so little time it took to change my entire attitude toward myself. I've been trying to dedicate time toward myself lately, to work on my overall perception of myself. I've also been trying to get back into dating, because I'm not too big into the hookup culture and honestly I hate being alone, but what I've realized in this endeavor is that I am still a work in progress. Because of my efforts to work on myself, and because of my age, I am in a very selfish place in my life. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, actually the opposite, I'm not ashamed of it at all. I'm somewhere where I want to, and ultimately need to, put my needs before someone else's. And what this journey is showing me is that maybe I don't need to be in some kind of conventional relationship. Would it be nice to have someone who was willing to give me everything I need to work on myself? Yes, but I don't know that I've found such a person to do that. I need time to indulge on my more selfish needs, and by that I mean that I need things like plenty of me time, the ability to what I want or need when I want or need it, and really just freedom to go about with myself. People shouldn't be ashamed of being this type of selfish. And I know there have to be other people who feel this way, they want the comfort and companionship of a relationship but also want to work on themselves. Do ya feel me?
