Running with the Boys

Everyone knows that girl that only, or mostly, hangs out with boys. It doesn’t mean she’s all tomboy all the time. It doesn’t mean that she’s a huge flirt. She’s a very special type of girl. She may not know how to fix a car engine, but that won’t stop her from showing up in her best guy friend’s garage to help any way she can. She is the girl who is down for anything from watching football to going fishing. She doesn’t always need her fruity cocktails, she’s perfectly content with a beer or some whiskey. That doesn’t mean that she won’t ask her boys what guys look for in girls, or their opinion on her as a girl. Granted her guy friends will likely go one of two ways; they will either tease her a little and give her a non-helpful answer, or they will be direct and tell her exactly what they think. People, especially the girliest of girls, don’t always understand these lovely creatures. Maybe they grew up with a bunch of brothers and learned to embrace wrestling as a form of affection. Maybe her dad wanted a son and she learned to love football as a way to get along with the man she looked up to most. She learned to adapt and it helped form her into who she it. Sure, she played with her barbies when she was little, but she would also play hot wheels with her brother. This type of girl has no issue defying gender stereotypes. She fully believes she can do anything, and acts on it wholeheartedly. She has the best of both worlds, she wears makeup and motor oil. Here’s to these girls, these beautiful, misunderstood girls.
