If you’re going to be weird, be confident about it.

There’s a line i keep coming back to lately: "If you’re going to be weird, be confident about it. "

It sounds simple, almost like something you’d see scribbled in the margins of a notebook or printed on a poster in a dorm room. but the older i get, the more i realize it’s not just a cute sentence. It’s advice disguised as permission. Because the truth is, everyone is weird. We just don’t all agree on it at the same time. Some people are loud weird. They talk too fast, laugh at the wrong moments, dress like they got dressed in the dark and somehow made it fashion. Some people are quite weird. they overthink the way they say “hello,” rehearse text messages in their head, and feel deeply about things other people barely notice. Some people are soft weird, some are chaotic weird. Some are “why do you know that obscure fact about 18th century shipwrecks” weird. And some of us are mix of all of it, depending on the day. The problem isn’t the weirdness, it’s the hesitation. That split-second moment where you decide your joke is too much, your outfit is too loud, your opinion is too specific, your interest is too niche. So you shrink it. Smooth it out. Translate yourself into something more “acceptable.” But acceptable to who, exactly? The world is already full of people trying to be palatable. You don’t need to compete in that category. there’s no ward for being the most digestible version of yourself. What actually stands out is the thing people remember, the thing that feels alive is confidence in your weirdness. Not arrogance. Not performance. Just the quite certainty that you don’t need to explain every part of yourself before you’re allowed to exist. Confidence in your weirdness looks like: Wearing the thing you like even if no one else is wearing it. Saying the thought you usually swallow halfway. Liking what you like with out adding "i know it's stupid but..." Being fully in your interest even if they don't make sense on paper. It’s not about becoming louder. it’s about becoming less apologetic. And maybe that’s the real shift. Not becoming someone else, but stopping the constant editing of yourself in real time. Letting your personality load fully, even if it takes up space. Because when you stop treating your weirdness like something to hide, something interesting happens, it stops feeling like a flaw and starts feeling like identity. And ironically, that’s when people starts calling you “confident.” Not because you became different. But because you finally stopped disappearing halfway through being yourself.

2025 is over ! It was a very stable and clam year for me :)

I decide to chill with art and progression, try things, learn things, fail at things, and... I liked it ! I think I didn't created my most exciting pieces of art this year, but all of them felt "deliberate", I always had a clear goal in mind doing them ! I tried to get better at rendering, and values, and composition, and characters which overall, I think I achieved to my liking. I also "tried" stuff, even if for now, it is still quite shy, I went in different directions, without focusing to much on style or identity ? I just wanted to explore ? and not worry too much about a brand or anything.

Which overall, gives a pretty incoherent look to this recap, but I see art has having moments of chaos and moments of order, Im very much in a chaos episode, and I think we should not fight against it, just embrace it, and create whatever comes, I trust it will all makes sense in the future !

After leaving 2024, I felt discouraged about my work, I had the feeling something was lost, and I didn't know what, or how to reclaim it. I think 2025 gave me that thing back, I hope in 2026 I get to create more and have fun !

Thanks to everyone here who commented & shared :) reposting on tumblr this last couple of years has been a blast ! I wish a happy 2026 to all !
