Matthew had no idea how she was going to react but to be fair, he did not expect that as a reply. He liked it though, appreciate it too. Seen Hailey like that, so mature about it. He held her hands to his, gently rubbing her hand with his thumb while she was talking. “Yeah” he tilt his head on the side when she spoke. “I kind of know that story. Well, part of it” he replied when she mentioned her ex boyfriend however Matthew could see how relief she felt letting it all out and he was glad that she was finally able to let that part of herself go. “I feel and I am fully over what happened in the past, I’m in a better place and have fully moved on from that part of my life. I just want you to know that” Matthew explained to her. His mouth dropped open a little when he heard her next words but soon it turned into a smile letting her finish her sentence. “You are right” he nodded. “We are both different, mature and I should really not keep my mind busy with the past and focus more on the present” he said. “And” the man gently pulled her closer to him, arms around her body. “I love you too” he finally told her.
"Not my proudest moment” Hailey bit her bottom lip as she though about those days. She was so stupid back then, acting like a high school girl. “I don’t know why I was acting that way” she confessed. “Maybe because part of me knew that I would never feel the kind of love he had with her” that hurt her to admit, being a second choice was no ones perfect idea. “I’m just happy I pulled myself out of this situation” Hailey admitted with a smile. She was much better now, in a way better place in her life. She nodded while listening to him. “I believe you” she told him. “I can see it” she told him again. Looking at his reaction worried her for a bit but his smile made it better. However, Matthew not saying it back made her heart beat faster. She simply nodded with his next words, feeling anxious if she acted right before. When he pulled her closer to him, Hailey smiled and it only turned wider when he said the followed words. “Oh God, I thought you were never going to say it” she giggled before pressing her lips against his. “I love you” she repeated between their lips.
