The situation is catastrophic now in Gaza after the heavy rain and winds this week. Did you know that families in Gaza are sheltered only by some pieces of nylon and that the cold is very severe? My family is suffering from severe cold.
There is no shelter to protect them from the bitter cold. Their help will save my family’s lives from starvation and may help them flee Gaza soon after the crossings are opened soon.

Interactive computer-based reminders to diet and exercise are useless.
I mean, I literally went to Cochrane Reviews, one of the best-respected sources for massive meta-analyses, and I just input the keywords "weight loss" and "exercise," and I'm tooling through the results. Every one of the damn things shows that we do not have high-quality research indicating that exercise leads to weight loss. So no. I'm right, and you need to adjust your worldview--ask yourself, if not for weight loss, then why? Re-read those sources: exercise improved muscle density, insulin sensitivity, and cholesterol. It's good for your blood vessels, it's good for your strength, it's good for your brain.
But it won't make you thin. Maybe two pounds, maybe five, but that's about it. If you're looking at short-term, like a year, sure, you can lose weight--but the effort will almost always result in your body going "oh shit, we're living in a famine" and you will regain it, and now, with your body at a new set-point, losing it will be harder. Regaining will be easier. Welcome to the life-destroying yo-yo.

Exercise and eat lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains because those things will keep you healthier longer, regardless of how much you weigh, and pick up your pick-axe in the ongoing horribly slow and frustrating fight of chipping away at the idea that being fat is a bad thing that means you’re a bad person. I recommend the book Fat Talk for a good place to start.

My children crave vegetables, meat, and fruits; we haven't eaten any of these in one year, since the war started. Our bodies have deteriorated, our bones have weakened, and my son Mohamed's chest bones have become visible, along with the vertebrae of his spine. He also suffers from scabies due to the lack of cleanliness and medicine. Our bodies are filled with rashes from the heat because we are living with 40 people in a smal💔💔💔💔💔

I have a lot of asks in my inbox right now from families desperately pleading for help. For a while, it felt incredibly overwhelming and I fell into an old and inconsiderate coping mechanism.
I've been trying my best to work on this, and today I went to the bottom of my asks. As I clicked on the account of one of these folks, I saw that this person had last posted in July.
A real, and deep horrifying realization crossed my mind, that is now helping me to understand the gravity of this situation. That these human beings in my ask box could one day just be gone. That they'd suddenly stop posting, because they had become a victim of a genocide.
I had understood that this is a very serious situation, and that people are in danger, and I was concerned for those people. But I didn't fully comprehend it, in terms that my cognitive impairments understood.
Ive comprehended it now. Today, I will spend it creating a long post with this backlog of pleas for help that my blog has collected. All these people deserve help, they deserve safety, and they deserve to not be afraid for their lives.
What you, Aya, and countless others like you are going through is a new bar in cruelty humanity has met. Violence beyond measure, all the while othering and trying to dismantle your own humanity.
No matter what, you and all Palestinians are human beings. I challenge anybody who has ever tried to deny that you and your entire country need help; if you replace the word you use to refer to Palestinian people with "human being", suddenly, the reality of what is being said is revealed.
Which you certainly know far too well; everything else after this paragraph isn't for you, it's for people who have convinced themselves that you are not human.
They will not say so in words as direct as that, because that points out the harm.
No matter what you say, the people facing a genocide right now in the Gaza strip are human beings. Both you, I, and them have DNA that is similar enough for us to be the same species.
There might be a day that you're in dire need of a blood donation or an organ transplant.. and you end up dying, because the person who was the perfect match was a human being who was a victim of the Palestinian genocide.
If you or a loved one ever experienced cancer, or Altzimers, or a horrible disease that we have yet gotten a cure or a vaccine; our progress in finding these is halted. Why? Because the person who could've gone into those fields and done that research instead became a casualty in the Palestinian genocide.
Every human being has their own unique lives and has endless amounts of potential. Every time you lament about an invention that you consider to be a part of the future hasn't happened yet; ie; "How come we don't have flying cars yet?" Well, the human being who might've invented that became a number.
Every single one of us is affected by the shear amount of loss being experienced by these human beings. For every single death from this genocide, that's one less person who might've gone on to figure out the answer to climate change. Each and every loss of human life is a loss experienced by everyone, and in our collective progress as a whole.
Part of the reason we are on this website, is because we as human beings invented the computer.
What if Albert Einstein had been a victim of the Holocaust? How much would progress have suffered if he did not have the resources to learn and to refine his theories?
