Important Announcement

After months of hiatuses and attempts to reconnect with this RP community, I must sadly say that I am discontinuing this blog as of today. After I post this, and queue it up a couple times, I will log out of this account and forget the password. This was not an easy decision for me to make, but in the end, it wasn’t worth the stress.

But before I go, I want to explain a little bit about what is driving me off RPing as a whole so expertly: So congratulations the whole Dragon Age fandom for making my experience here horrid and worthless.

Before I explain further, I will amend that there are some of you that made staying worthwhile, some of you that I connected with, and that I enjoyed, and it is you select few that made my decision to leave such a hard one, and one that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

So first of all, let’s address the elephant in the room: why do I hate this perfect loving fandom so much? And that, I think, is exactly why. This fandom is so strung up on how open and accepting they are, and how much they don’t tolerate hate, that they ignore the blatant hate they themselves perpetuate.

On a more personal relevance, I’ve heard people say that a straight Cassandra is disgusting, and that anyone who thought she was straight was disgusting and queerphobic. As many of you know, I played Cassandra as “straight” or hetero-flexible (my Cassandra had the possibility to be interested in all Male Inquisitors but Lavellan, and female Adaar, for my own reasons), and while I play Cassandra mostly straight, as a pansexual woman I find it hard to logic that this some how makes me queerphobic.

In the same regard, there are those fans who swear on their lives that Cullen is Bi And Bi Only (because it was in the writing of course, disregarding that anything that gets cut from the writing is not canon. Sorry) and would lash out, often hatefully and furiously at any one who’s opinions differed. 

That being said, there is nothing wrong with these character’s being portrayed as Bisexual. But you can’t slap a sticker on an old box and call it new; its not representation if you just force your own reality on it.

On that same note, it’s not even really representation that the fandom aimed for. All of it, every single bit, was fetishization. Or the wanting of someone (Cullen) to be Bisexual so he could be paired with another attractive male (Dorian). This in itself is not inherently wrong, but it is wrong when you accuse anyone who calls you out of homophobia. You’re the real homophobe, you are the problem.

And I won’t write too much on Krem, other than it falls under the same sort of umbrella. The fandom throws the word transphobic at anyone who disagrees with them when they say that transmen don’t date women. spoilers: transmen date whoever they want, saying that they exclusively don’t date women is, you guessed it, transphobic.

But now on to the reason I’m quitting.

For the above reasons, most likely, my Cassandra is treated as a second-rate. Forgotten about, mistagged, dropped, passed up… and all because I don’t play her as Bi?

I also know for a fact that I’ve had threads dropped after making it clear that I had no intention of shipping with someone. And that’s fine really; if you’re only talking to me so you can bang my character, I have no interest in you anyway. 

RPing has become more of a chore than it is a joy, and its all thanks to the Dragon Age fandom. Never before have I seen a fandom so adept at making people feel worthless for their opinions, never before have I seen a fandom so expertly send anonymous hate to a person telling them to kill themselves, and then go back to pretending like the fandom is amazing, never before have I seen a fandom with its head so far up its own ass that it can’t see how full of shit it is.

And this fandom is full of so much shit.

And I’m tired of being ignored because I’m not good enough. I’m tired of being tossed aside because I refuse to allow you to fetishize a character I care deeply about; My character. I am not sorry if you find this rude, or offensive, because if you do, you are the person this message is for.

So goodbye Dragon Age RP Fandom.

And Good Fucking Riddance.

He frowned a bit when she took the spot beside the tub instead of the perfectly good one inside it. It was certainly punishment enough for her complaints. 

“I was a mess.” He muttered, tilting his head to kiss the inside of her palm. “Wanted to clean up before I saw you.”

She kneeled next to the tub to fold her arms over the brim and rest her chin on them. She traced circles through the water.

“You know I would not have minded,” she said, tilting her head to look at him. “You’ve been away for quite a while.”

He started just slightly at her head, smiling anyway and turning on instinct to press his nose against her head, resting his eyes for a moment. His thumb smoothed over her hand, and it dawned on him. 

“I… don’t think I’ve told you properly–” he muttered as he rose his head up. He snorts a little at his own words. “I’m… fond of you that is” he stated, unsure of how to go about  these things, since it’s been years since he’ s actually grown to care for someone like he does for Cassandra.

The last time was back in Kirkwall, with one of the women who ran a stall. It sold breads and goods from ferelden… he remembers vaguely she had a Mabari named…. oh he couldn’t remember that. But it never came to fruition due to Meredith’s paranoia.

“I would like to spend more time with you… like this” he glanced briefly at their clasped hands and how her head was pillowed on his shoulder.

Cassandra looked up at him, her lips first parting in surprise, then spreading into a small smile. Much like Cullen, it had been a very long time since she had cared so much for a man; surely not since the termination of her relationship with Regalyan.

Still, it was sweet the way he almost stumbled through his sentences, and Cassandra felt a swell of affection for him.

“I would like that, Commander,” she said simply, smiling up at him, the smallest hint of a blush on her cheeks.

He blinked at her response, expecting her to … run away or something. Sometimes he was surprised that he wasn’t exaggerating when thinking about her reactions. Sometimes he was surprised when she completely surpassed his expectations. 

“You’re never unwelcome.” He said, a bit of amusement in his voice. “Especially not now. Want to join?”

Cassandra opened the door slowly, crossing her arms as she walked over to him. There was a stool next to the bath; she sat herself on it. 

“You didn’t tell me you had returned,” she said, reaching to move some of his damp hair from his face. “I had to hear it from Bull.”

Cassandra blinked. She hoped she did not make the Commander think his company was undesirable, she enjoyed his company very much, and flushed gently at the idea that he might enjoy it as well.

“Of course, Commander,” she replied, smiling and taking his hand again, a bit nervously, as she began to walk with him around the clearing. “The time we spend together brings me joy. I would not object to that.”

He returned a nervous smile to her, but his bolstered confidence slipped when she took his hand. It momentarily stilled inside her grasp before his fingers wound back around her’s. “I’m glad it does…” he replied in a tender tone.

He looked up at the sky, another low sigh leaving him. He looked back over, lips settlingintoa smile as he looked at her.

“It’s nothing to–” He sighed as she shut the door. Anyone else, and they might have just turned around to say whatever needed to be said. Though perhaps he had fancied too much about her joining in. Imagining that would go quite differently and all.

“No harm done.” He muttered to himself, shaking his head. “You could have joined, you know.”

“You seemed busy,” she replied through the door, her hand hesitated on the handle before, shifting instead to knock lightly. “And my presence seemed unwelcome.“

Krem yawned, sinking into the tub. It wasn’t often they got the chance for a hot bath, and even less so when he was actually in the mood to waste his time in dealing with it. Though he had to admit, this was nice.

And the intrusion was very appealing, clothes or not.

“They didn’t teach you how to knock, Seeker?” He teased

Cassandra flushed, staring over his shoulder at the wall instead of at him. 

“I-- I had only wished to see you,” she said, pointedly not looking at him. This was horribly embarrassing. “I did not intend to interrupt; I’ll return when you are through.

She closed the door and leaned against it, trying to calm her beating heart and embarrassed blush.

Some Krem/Cassandra from Dragon Age: Inquisition My friend TC and I played a game where we tried to pair up random DA characters, and what I had in mind for these two was just too cute not to doodle. Will probably be colored.

He smiled softly, though he wasn’t sure he could be entirely assured by that. Pushing it away meant that it might never be done. He had some familiarity with that practice. 

“You need to focus on yourself.” He said, kissing her shoulder. “I’d like to spend many more years after this one with you, you know.”

Cassandra flushed lightly and smiled, bringing a hand to curl through his hair. He worried so much, even if he liked to pretend that he didn’t.

“I don’t plan on dying anytime soon, Lieutenant,” she replied, kissing his temple.

“I am–” he nodded in response, but stayed wrapped around her, “But I am with stunning company right now… and if I’m honest, being alone in that tower–” he sighed quietly. “It’s not my favorite thing in the world” he admitted.

He leaned down, nosing the crown of her head. “And perhaps you… won’t mind sharing your bed for the night” he offered, surprised he had enough courage to get the words out without blushing.

Cassandra, however, was not so lucky, and a small flush creeped up her cheeks. Her quarters were small, but she had no qualm with sharing them with the Commander, she only worried he might not find it comfortable.

“I don’t have much here,” she said, “but I welcome you to stay, whenever you wish. I do not mind.”

He smiled softly, thumb brushing at her hip in a small and comforting motion. “There’s always time to grieve. Hurts you in the long run if you don’t.” The Chargers mourned lost men, evn if it was the smallest of ceremonies. Just enough to feel less hurt and lost, to avoid the distraction from grief. “And you don’t have to … assure me? I know you love me.”

“Perhaps, eventually, I will take that time,” she said, sighing contently at the touch. That he knew her well enough to know how to relax her still baffled her in the stillest of moments. “But not now. Not when there is still so much I need to focus on.”
