Study tips from a straight A student who went through a really fuckingg bad downfall and found a way out.
You HAVE to study like your life depends on it, because it fucking does. No one is coming to save you, you need to fit that thought in your mind.
This makes you anxious?scared? Panicked? Terrified?
Good. Use it. Fuel it into your study.
Find out what makes you hyper focus. For me it's usually black coffee. ( yes im addicted but i cant quit right now)
Study ugly. All those tips that tell you to dress up and study? Doeesnt really work. Its a very temporary fix. Wear that washed out t shirt thats almost a rag, shorts with coffee stains, greasy hair wonky glasses and a messy bun.
No one cares how you look. Only your goals matter. Dressing up isn't going to change the results, but studying in the worst possible look of yourself gives your brain a lil prep for when youll actually be super burnout/depressed/ anxious and actually will be in this state. It will help you keep up the momentum even at that time.
This is literally what got me out of my slump. I needed to understand working to achieve my goals doesnt have a "mood" or a "dress code".
Start with your favorite subject to build the momentum, then switch to your least favorite. Confuse your brain into liking it.
Review notes the same day. I cannot emphasise this enough.
Feynman technique. Literally the best thing ever. Teaching it to someone will 100% make you understand it.
Too boring? Argue with the textbook. Make Counter arguments, understand why it can be wrong. Treat it like a debate (bonus because this also builds critical thinking)
Cant focus? Switch subjects every 10 mins. Yes, 10 mins. You might think you didn't get anything done, but it is better than you scrolling. It will increase focus, make you connect the dots better.
Go maniac mode. Phone on dnd, room locked, use your tiles/ mirror.
Active recall and solve questions with a white board marker on the mirror or the floor. Makes you feel like a crazy genius.
Cant understand? Solved examples over and over again.
Pick a character and turn into them. I chose paris geller (you may have gotten an idea from this post)
Im fuelled by stress, competition and toxic motivation. I want it and I will get it.
Messy notes. Not illegible, js not really aesthetic notes. This one specifically works for me. Makes me connect the dots and think better.
1 page chapter trick- fit your entire chapter into a single page. Write tiny, make borders, overwrite idc. Fit it in a page (try to do it from memory)
This give me crazy retention.
Remember, your dreams aren't to be compromised because you chose the bed over books. Get up, get working.
Keep a one track mind, and a one track heart.
[Note: this worked specifically for me and some of the friends I recommended these tips too, not necessary they will work for you.)
This happened to me when I had a bad downfall from a senior in high school to freshman college. I got my ass off by studying and building a new skill set.
